WCW UK Tour Report, Birmingham, England, November 13 2000:

World Championship Wrestling exploded into Birmingham's NEC on Monday, November 13 2000. The group promised a great card of action, and that's exactly what it delivered. Just like in London, fireworks erupted around the arena and David Penzer entered the ring. He welcomed the fans to Birmingham and a night of WCW action. Then it was time for The Nitro Girls! Chae, Baby and Syren danced in the ring to the delight of the fans. Then it was show time!

1 The Cat with Miss Jones pinned Cruiserweight champion "Above Average" Mike Sanders in a non- title match:

"Above Average" made his entrance first, to a chorus of boos. He insulted the Birmingham crowd by saying, "In America, we have a thing called after- shave". He then said that many people in the audience could certainly use some, the women included. Then, The Cat made his entrance, along with Miss Jones. Cat was the crowd favourite with most people, but Sanders was the real star. The Cat got a "*** hole" chant going, and Sanders responded by asking the audience, " What did you say?" In a great opening match, "Above Average" choked The Cat into the canvas, and pulled off some great moves. Unfortunately, The Commissioner responded with a bang- on- target Feliner, and secured the 3- count. Sanders wasn't best pleased with the decision. He claimed that The Cat cheated, and that the whole thing was "bull s***".

2 Norman Smiley and "That 70's Guy" Mike Awesome defeated The Boogie Knights:

Disquo and Alex Wright weren't over in the slightest with the Birmingham crowd. However, Norman and "That 70's Guy" sure were. In an entertaining tag- team match, both teams looked great. During the bout, Disquo tried in vain to get the crowd behind his partner by starting an "Alex" chant. Following some high- flying manoeuvres from Awesome, Norman got the tag and tied Disquo up in The Norman Conquest while Alex Wright was out on the floor.

3 "Prime Time Elix Skipper with Major Gunns beat Kwee Wee with Paisley:

The worst match of the night, this was a pitiful effort by both men. The crowd weren't interested either, so these guys had their work cut out anyway. In fact, the only good thing about this match was the managers, who barley got involved. Following some awful attempts at knocking up a decent wrestling match, Skipper nailed Kwee Wee with that ring of his for the 1-2-3. Nobody gave a toss. Why should they? "Prime Time" and Kwee Wee quite frankly, sucked.

4 Mark Jindrak and Sean O' Haire retained the Tag Team titles against The Filthy Animals (Rey Mysterio Jr and Kidman):

The Animals emerged first, accompanied by Tygress and Konnan. Then the champs made their entrance. Just one minute into the match, Konnan left the ring side area and never returned, for some reason. Meanwhile in the ring, there were some great exchanges between The Animals and The Thrillers. Rey and Kidman hit some amazing high- flying moves, and the NBT looked great as well. The finish came when O' Haire caught Mysterio with a "Seanton Bomb" from the top rope.

5 General Rection defeated Lance Storm with Major Gunns by DQ in a U.S. Title Match:

Storm was accompanied to the ring by Major Gunns, who had turned heel on General Rection and the MIA just three days earlier on Nitro. Storm asked if he could be serious for a minute, and said that he'd only been in the U.K. five days, and he was already sick of it. "Does it always rain here?", he asked. Then he asked everyone to rise for the playing of the Canadian National Anthem. (Some people did). Then, Rection made his entrance to a huge response. When the bell rang, the two had some smooth exchanges (although at one point, Storm stepped back like he'd just been hit, and Rection was no where near him!). Towards the end of the bout, Major Gunns stepped onto the apron with a chair, intending to interfere on Storm's behalf. Storm nailed Rection with the title belt, and locked on The Maple Leaf. When the bell rang, many thought that the General had tapped out. But Storm had been disqualified. Unhappy at the decision (he didn't win the belt because he didn't pin Storm or make him submit), Rection grabbed Major Gunns and gave her a pile- driver! Lance Storm escaped and carried the Major over his shoulder.

After the interval, it was more Nitro Girls! Chae, Baby and Syren danced in the entrance way for the fans.

6 Kevin Nash and Sting defeated Kronik:

The wolf howl was heard, and the music began to play. It was obvious to many people who this was: Kevin Nash! The huge guy stepped over the ropes and awaited his challenge. Then Commissioner Sanders arrived! "Above Average" bragged about selling "Coach Kevin" down the river and using him as a stepping- stone for The Natural Born Thrillers' success. Sanders introduced Nash's opponents: Kronik! Nash suggested making the odds fairer. So, he introduced HIS partner for the evening, Sting! Sting emerged to a huge response and tried hard in this match- up. Kronik did their best as well, but Nash was a little lazy. One of his Big Boot's missed the opposition totally. Still, this was a great match. Sting pulled off some great moves, and turned Bryan Clark's Meltdown into a Scorpion Death Drop for the 3 !

7 Goldberg downed Bam Bam Bigelow:

This heavily- hyped match- up was eagerly anticipated by all. After all, if Goldberg lost, his wining streak and his WCW career would be over. Earlier in the evening, Bam Bam boasted that he would be the man to end Goldberg's career in Birmingham! Yeah, right. Goldberg emerged through his famous pyro, and wiped the floor with Bigelow. The shortest match of the evening, it was over and done with in a matter of seconds. Still, we did get to see The Spear and The Jackhammer. As Goldberg left the ring, it was obvious who the star of the show was.

8 Booker T retained the World Title against Scott Steiner:

"Big Poppa Pump" emerged first, along with his "favourite freak" Midajah. The champ made his entrance to a tremendous response. At the start of the match, Steiner was reluctant to get in the ring. He was too busy jaw- jacking with the fans to pay any attention to Booker! In an entertaining main event, Steiner went through his usual routine and Booker fought back with some high- flying moves. Towards the end of the bout, Midajah attempted to interfere on Steiner's behalf. However, Booker nailed Steiner with a Book-End for the win! Following the decision, Steiner grabbed the microphone and said, "I don't care! I'm never coming back here!" The crowd roared with relief!

WHAT a show WCW put on that night. Apart from Kwee Wee and Skipper, everyone tried their best and made sure that WCW put on the best show possible.
