Overseas New's

Prominent Australian motocross rider, Brett Metcalfe, will join the likes of Craig Anderson and Chad Reed in the USA next year, albeit for a different race team.

The South Australian will be riding for KTM in 2003 in the USA.

Metcalfe injured his shoulder during warmup before the French Round of the Motocross World Championship on May 12 and will have surgery this Friday - his second shoulder operation in two years.

The young rider, who turned 18 only a few weeks ago, will miss the rest of this year's MX World Championship to ensure his shoulder is well and truly up to the task to take on the USA in 2003.

While disappointed about the injury, Brett is looking forward to the big challenges that lie ahead.

Local New's

GTEC - Bourkes Bridge

The Naracoorte Enduro was run on the picturesque farm property belonging to the Middleton's at Bourkes Bridge. Thanks once again to Richie for the use of the land. The somewhat crisp start to the day was worthwhile when the sun finally got through the fog. Great day, challenging track, top ride.

Well done to Fitzy and the Naracoorte crew for a well presented event.

The multi MX track special test kept everyone on their toes….check your times against your mates for possible bragging rights …. at least till the next event !

On checking the results (which were all correct) the number of DNFs and a few DNS were much higher than usual. Many of these were unusual to say the least. One rider suffered a split plastic fuel tank, others mystery engine or electrical complaints. Must have just been one of those days !!

Enduro's do not "just happen" they take a lot of planning and hard work to run, before, during and after the day. To be eligible for GTEC Series points you must at some time during the season "work" at one of the enduros. Contact one of the event organizers to register for work. There are some work tasks that will allow you to ride in the event and work. Eg sweep riders, start of the day entry workers. Series results count your "best 4 results".

Casterton is next on 23 June…….see map and details on back.
