At the 117th N-SSA Nationals

The  Spring nationals were attended by only 4 members of the 2nd US Sharpshooters Dan Davis, Mike Barnes, Tom Shedd Sr. & Jr. The Ft. was soggy from the rains and most of the target positions had standing water which made the Nationals like an amphibious assault. The Positions the 114the Illinois had on Saturday were ankle deep at the 50 yard mark. The weather was good for the carbine match so scores were high, Dan Davis and Tom Shedd  Sr. shared honors for top shooter at 16 hits apiece .  Mike Barnes and Tom Shedd Jr. each turned in respectable scores also

After the ceremonies were completed the 2nd U.S. and the 56th Virginia had the opportunity to demonstrate to the public what it was like to shoot a musket and Maynard Carbine. The public was also allowed, under direct supervision of one of the team members, to try out one of the muskets or carbines. This was an excellent opportunity for both teams to meet with the public and possibly recruit new members for both units.

Pet Parade

La Grange, IL

The 2nd U. S. Sharpshooters were invited to march in the Lagrange Pet Parade by Battery H. It was the first parades for a few of our new members and a good way to raise money for our team and defer our shooting fees.
