Customer Service Jobs
"Customer service (also known as Client Service)
is the provision of service
to customers before, during and after a purchase.
Its importance varies by product, industry and customer. As an example, an
expert customer might require less pre-purchase service (i.e., advice) than a
novice. In many cases, customer service is more important if the purchase
relates to a “service” as opposed to a “product".
Customer service may be provided by a person (e.g., sales and service
representative), or by automated means called self-service. Examples of self
service are Internet sites.
Customer service is normally an integral part of a company’s customer
value proposition."

The
Internet has paved the way for many to find customer service jobs from the
comfort of their own home. Where call centers and switchboard were once
the norm for handling customer service related issues, today technological
advances have allowed companies to hire virtual customer service representatives
world wide. There are many benefits to hiring virtual customer service
representatives. First and foremost, customer service representatives that
work from home saves the company considerable amounts of money in the areas of
overhead, rent space, and equipment. By installing a call center system
and by utilizing technology such as VoIP; one main call center has the
capability of routing calls to homes worldwide. These types of call
centers can thereby operate 24 hours per day, and handle calls worldwide.
Companies can hire customer service representatives in their local regions or in
foreign countries if they choose. To begin a career
as a home based customer service representative, you will need to have a
computer that is up to date with the company's technological requirements.
Every company has different requirements as well as their own software that you
will most likely need to download so that you will be able to receive data
from your computer as you work. When working in the
customer service field, you will need to have a lot of patience. Customer
service requires having the ability to listen to customers' needs, as well as
their complaints. A customer service agent must have patience and the
skills needed to listen to even the most unruly or frustrated customer.
This is why many companies require intensive training before you can begin
customer service work, even if you have years of experience. Also,
many customer service jobs require that you will handle customer's private
information, such as their address, telephone numbers, even their credit
cards. Therefore, most applicants for customer service jobs will need to
undergo screening. This often includes a background/criminal check, and
may even include a credit check. Though the general
rule of thumb is that you should never pay a company for a job, you may find
that legitimate customer service jobs will ask that you pay for the background
check. If you don't feel comfortable with this, then you may choose to
apply to jobs that don't require you to pay for the fee. Here
is a list of some of the most prevalent work from home customer service jobs.
