The Model 11-A Sneezer Filter   It is designed for an automatic backwash, using vigorous reverse flow cleaning with a minimum of backwash water. The filter media is made of aluminum oxide fused together with porcelain. This unique filter element is able to withstand the vigorous reverse flow cleaning of the backwash cycle. It eliminates the risks of screen collapse, as in a screen filter, or the contamination of the clean water by sand particles, as in sand bed filters. A solid state timer controls the fully automatic cleaning program, and can be easily set by the user to accommodate the condition of the source water. A differential pressure switch will imitate a backwash cycle if excessive dirt is accumulated between timed cleanings. During the ten second backwash cycle, there is a brief shutdown of the output, allowing the total available hydraulic energy to be directed to the cleaning of the media. For installations of more than 100 gpm, multiple units may be installed in parallel to increase volume. One control panel sequences the backwash cycles to allow uninterrupted output.

FEATURES: EFFICIENT Vigorous reverse flow cleaning requires only 5 gallons of water Automatic backwash control includes differential pressure switch Cleaning cycle is complete in ten seconds Operates efficiently with as little as 25 psi No minimum flow requirements for effective cleaning. Especially effective in removing fibrous organic materials FLEXIBLE Filter elements can be compared to 100, 150 or 200 mesh screens Available for 24V AC or battery operation Cleaning cycle interval can be set for a few minutes or as much as 24 hours Pressure differential switch responds as a backup to the preset cleaning cycle Specifically designed for small to moderate size agricultural or industrial requirements Up to three additional units can be added to provide for greater flow requirements One control panel can accommodate up to 4 units in order to increase volume (see separate brochure). DURABLE Fused ceramic media for stability and strength Constructed of stainless steel, PVC and hot dipped galvanized for long life Media and housing unaffected by most chemicals HOW DOES IT WORK? Raw water enters the filter chamber through the front opening. It passes through the tubular filter element from the outside to the center, depositing dirt in the filter pores. Filtered water then exits downward through the clean water output. Filtered water also fills the cleaning water reservoir (above the filter element) with the 5 gallons necessary for a cleaning cycle. Cleaning is accomplished by first closing the valves at the output and the input, isolating the cleaning water that is held above the filter element. By hydraulic action this water is released through the quick opening valve) causing an explosive like reverse flow (from center out) through the dirty water discharge opening. Like a "SNEEZE" - this action clears the filter pores of accumulated deposits for dirt. The entire cleaning sequence requires only a few seconds. THE FILTER MEDIA The FAO filter elements are made of finely graded particles of aluminum oxide. They are pressed into tubes, bonded with porcelain, and fired in a kiln, fusing them together into a strong, massive, porous ceramic material. The filter tubes thus formed are the strongest and most resistant to the effects of water and chemicals of all available ceramic materials. Recommended Minimum Flow - none required. Recommended Minimum Operating Pressure .... 25 psi Recommended Maximum Surge Pressure........ 125 psi Recommended Working Pressure.............. not to exceed 100 psi Overall Dimensions - Height 33" - Width 38"
