West Coast Trip

Strahan

During the first semester holiday (3-4/7/98), we went to the West coast of Tasmania. The trip was organised by Malaysian Student Society (MSS). We went to some small towns for examples Queenstown and Strahan.
The spotlight of the trip was on the river cruise trip to Macquirie Harbour and Gordon River. On the way of the cruise trip. We went to some islands. For instances, Sarah Island which was a hell on earth at 18 century (a place where all crimimal were kept!) and another island with well-protected rain forest and a 2000-year-old houn pine!
In a nut shell, that was a trip to nature.

Strahan is a small fish village. It's pretty 'ulu'. The reason why we were there was because of its river cruise.
See that? On the right hand side.

That's the people who went to the trip. We took this photo before we boarded the cruise.
Sorry, it's a bit small and blur...

It was in the Macquirie Harbour, it was quite tranquil.
I like river cruise, it's cool and refreshing!

This is the 'thing' in the last photo...

This is a fish cage to rare artantica salmon and trout. There are about twenty to thirty cages like this. Each costs $??,???. That's a lot of money there...... (and lots of fish as well)
Wanna fishing? Hehehe....

A photo taken in the rain forest in a island which I've forgot the name. It's no polution in the forest at all.
From left: Jer Min, Li Peng, Me, Tan Kan & Kai Voon.

This was the highest building on Sarah Island before. Now what you see is just 1/3 of it. When people left the place last time, they were ashamed of that and destroyed everything....

Finally, we went in the Gordon River. The water is very dark in colour. It's not because of polution but the soil. The surface is so calm that it reflects like a mirror.
Cool! See the reflection? After the cruise cut through the water surface... It's getting late...

That's on the way back.
Try to act cool... Hehe....

Somewhere we stopped for stretching legs along the very winding and 'mountainy' road. It's closed to Queenstown.
That guy is Jer Min. I stole this photo from his homepage.
