Women's Village
Women's Village is a feminist organization dedicated to providing housing to women exiting shelters or abusive/exploitative situations. We do not discriminate based on age, sexual orientation, gender identification, race, religion or means of income. Our goal is to provide every woman with affordable, stable, safe, comfortable and beautiful housing that suits her inherent dignity. We are interested in community-building ventures that will combine the right to housing with the good of working with others for a brighter, safer Ontario.

We believe that housing is a human right. Many women cannot access housing because they live in poverty. This is a problem.

We believe that safety is a human right. Many women are not safe because they live in poverty. This is a problem.

We believe that mental health care, physical health care, education, and employment are human rights. Many women cannot access these rights because they live in poverty. This is a problem.

We believe that poverty cycles are disastrous for personal wellbeing and the Canadian economy alike. This is a problem.

We believe that we can work together to help solve these problems.

While women across the province live with starvation, homelessness, abuse, shame, exploitation, unemployment and fear, we cannot call ourselves a community. While women choose to remain in exploitative or abusive situations because they do not have the financial means to leave, we cannot call ourselves guiltless. While women die on the streets due to lack of health care and housing, we cannot call ourselves civilized. While poverty and abuse are the top predictors that a woman will spend time in jail, we cannot call ourselves just. It's time for a change.
