He is a thickset and burly creature, though still young; marked oddly but handsomely in black-and-ivory badger markings, he stands out uniquely from both shadow and family. His eyes are bright, luminous yellow which betray the deepened premature wisdom of his youth, and as he stands he regards you with utter distrust before slipping away, disinterested in anything you might have to say. Name: Jazovac |
[Family]
Jazovac has no special relationship with his mother; he loves her as a son does, but nothing more. Her attempts to close bonding with him in his youth did not affect him, and he pulled away from her and his family early on in search of something else, though he has no clue what it could be.
Jazovac distances himself from his father, despite the loving relationship that is offered between them. Perhaps he doesn't see the need for the relationship, or the value in pursuing it further. Perhaps on a deeper level he is further made jealous by his more handsome, out-going brother. Or, perhaps, Jaz is just so simply intwined with his own affairs that he does not bother placing affections on his father beyond those simply required by their familial relationship.
The brothers are far less aware of each other than siblings generally are, and have been from the earliest stages of life. Kimeron has his own selection of friend and his own set of hobbies, of which Jazovac wants nothing to do. Fundamentally different in every way, Kim's personality does not allow him to be less than friendly to his brother, and Jazovac returns the favor in a quiet, begrudging sort of way. He is simply disinterested in everything Kim stands for.
Although they are slightly closer than Jaz and Kim, Anna is another creature with whom Jaz rarely, if ever, associates. They are simply to different in personality to enjoy each other's company--Bright, cheerful Anna and sullen, brooding Jazovac. Beyond a fond brotherly protectiveness, there is really no relationship between them.
As close to a friend as any in his family, Jaz is pained by her removal from his home, though he does not show it. The two share a thread of similarity in their quiet rebellion, although at heart their essences differ greatly. [Friends]
An older pup, estranged from his peers by an attack which left him cold and largely emotionless. Theirs is a quiet friendship, more a commiserating of their solitude than legitimate intimacy, but they share enough qualities that they may have a future as closer companions ahead of them.
An attractive femme rendered weak by a heart condition, Autumn is estranged from her large family and their friends by her inability to join in their rough-and-tumble play. She and Jaz share an appreciation of nature and the quiet life of gardens and gentle exploration, and have come across each other on their investigations of the territory. When she was lost at the beginning of the Raid, Jaz elected to search for her, and the resulting adventure bonded them closely as companions. |
Born the younger of identical twins, Jazovac never knew his brother; the other pup was stillborn, and their identical large frames nearly killed their narrow-hipped mother. Overcome by grief, Coy and Daverone resolved never to mention their fifth pup, and buried him beneath an old, flame-damaged tree. Jazovac would never realize it, but he would spend the rest of his life searching for his other half, the half that had died alongside him in the womb. Had his twin lived, he may have fared differently; he may have experienced a close bond with his brother, a playful codependency and mischievous interaction of shared souls and minds. As it were, he grew only knowing intense loneliness, only knowing that he did not quite fit in with his siblings. His elder brother Kimeron was attractive, flashy, all bright colors and brilliant, winning personality. Anna, too, older than Jaz but petite and sweetly naive, was naturally friendly and flamboyant, beautiful and attention-loving. Jazovac held nothing in common with them, and shied away from their ever-increasing childish enthusiasm. Arumarna, his younger sister, was similarly quiet and withdrawn, though that was the extent of the pups's similarities; whereas she was antisocial and rebellious, Jaz was merely...lost. He would wander for hours in the wilderness, searching for something he didn't even know he was missing, enjoying his own company and rejecting that of others. No one ever offered the company or conversation that he desired, and he rejected it immediately without wondering why he did so. He matured far too quickly within his puphood. Naturally quiet, he rarely spoke unless it was necessary, and then it was delivered in an unnaturally gruff, low tone with as few words as possible. Childish lisps and vocabulary never graced his white-and-black maw, and his yellow eyes were always bright with an understanding beyond his years. It wasn't that he was unhappy...it was just that he was never quite fulfilled by other people's presence, and he could do just fine on his own, except for that awful gnawing loneliness.
