This is Dru, Spike's lady friend. She is approximately 2 years old. Dru was acquired from a private breeder who didn't find the operation to be the money maker he expected and liquidated his collection. He was also an idiot who didn't take the time to learn what he should have about keeping his animals healthy.

Dru had a rough childhood. Due to substandard nutrition and housing, she has brittle bones and some developmental deformations. Her tail was mangled and infected and had to be partially amputated. She is still not in the best of health, even with the best care we can give her. Beardies are normally very hardy lizards but Dru is subject to respiratory infection and dehydrates very easily. Bearded Dragons may live up to 8 years in captivity but we will be very happy if Dru makes it to 4-5 years old.

Dru loves to be top dog, well...lizard. If you hold her on your shoulder she will try to climb as high as possible so she can look down on you. Like all Beardies she is very personable and curious. She has a temper and will give you an eye-full of beard if you annoy her. As you can see, the colors are lovely around her eyes, lips and beard. She would have made a very good, and profitable, breeder if the original owner had just taken the time to get a clue.

Please don't make the same mistake with any animal, whether you plan to try to make money off of them or not. Take the time to learn everything you can about the animals and their habits and care and then do what you're told. Failure to do so can be debilitating or deadly to your animals. Plus, it makes you an idiot.
