SEATTLE - This is his third shot, so to speak.
Bob Sura has been selected to compete in the AT&T Shootout on All-Star Saturday Night during All-Star Weekend, Feb.11-13, at The Arena in Oakland.
Sura was tied for third in the league with 78 3-pointers and was ranked 14th in 3-point percentage at 41.9 (78-186) before last night's game against the Sonics. He has taken part in the rookie game and the Slam Dunk contest in previous years.
Ironically, he's 0-for-7 from 3-point range in the past two games.
"Since then, they told me I haven't made too many," he said, laughing. "So I don't know. We'll see what's going to happen. But All-Star Weekend is a fun time. It's going to be a good time out there."
During the Slam Dunk competition in Cleveland in 1997, Sura had a false start, used up all his adrenaline and fizzled.
"I was a little bit nervous for that," he admitted. "You're on display out there all by yourself. I think I'll be a little bit better off having gone through it."
Sura is one of five players who have competed in the slam dunk and shootout. The others: Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith and Ray Allen, who will compete this year." |
