Just thought I'd share some fairly unusual photos of the Phantom aircraft which I took whilst serving in the Royal Air Force as a Propulsion Technician or more affectionately called sumpy, dipstick or sooty. After a Major servicing the aircrew would do a "beat up" of the airfield. (that was in the days when a blind eye was turned) A couple of the boys were actually stood on the roof of the hangar and were looking down into the cockpit of the "Toomb" which at one point was only about 20 feet of the ground. It was shortly after this that they were stopped from doing "beat ups"
