#144 Mark Kruger did a good job Saturday of getting to the checkers (or to
the chequers, as my pal Denzil in Portsmouth would say). When Steve Dick
crashed out of the first superbike race, Mark finished first by a healthy
margin. Then he won the Pro 600 Supersport race. Then he won the
Open Supersport race. Then he won the second leg of Open Superbike.
Four for four made it a great day for Mark and his Kawasaki.
#125 Oliver Jervis finished second in both Open Superbike legs and
third in Pro 600 Supersport. Jervis is getting faster on his Kawasaki every
time out, it seems.
#69 Paul Ludwig on his CR500 won the Clearbrook Motorsport Formula 3 race AND
the Formula 2 race. Paul seems to be in a class of his own. As the holeshot
master, Paul gets great starts and nobody bothers him up front. #26 Tom Fayle
was the next fastest in round 2 of Formula 3 on another Honda supermoto
machine. Tom is of the foot-out-forward school of cornering and it
obviously works for him.
Ludwig won in Formula 2 and #51 Brian Steidle finished second.
#100 Misti Hurst took third, a good finish after missing the qualifier
for SV Cup in the morning due to a bike that wouldn't start on the
pre grid. Once the starter motor and clogged carb were dealt
with, Misti got down to business and got on the podium in both her races,
with a second place in SV Cup.
Brian Steidle won the SV Cup race with #93 Kathy Hubble in third.
The SV Cup is run simultaneously with Open Twins, which makes the starting
grid a challenge. #38 Rick Earle was the winner of the House of Buell Open
Twins class, with #99 Andy Bishop on his RC51 in second. #17 Rick Johnson,
WMRC prisident, finished third, bettering his fourth place finish in
Round 1. The Open Twins class is beginning to swell, with more entrants
every event.
In Amateur 600 Supersport, #6 John Parker won with #36 Jonathan Jeske in
second, same as Round 1.
The Sportsman class saw #799 Eddie McNaughton easily take the win.
The Novice class was dominated by #771 Steve O'Toole, a definite mover
through the ranks.
