We are a non-profit organization of Pharmacy Technicians.  Our members work and reside in Southern Vermont, Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties.  Our Chapter was formed in 1996 to provide Pharmacy Technicians in our area with continuing education programs both locally and affordably.  Many of our members are certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) and many are working toward this National Certification.  By providing continuing education programs, we as Pharmacy Technicians can update our skills to keep pace with the changes in pharmacy services.  To maintain our certification the PTCB requires a total of 20 CE hours during each 2-year certification period.  As a group, we aslo encourage our members to participate in community service projects.
As pharmacists are rapidly moving into clinical and patient counseling roles, technicians are assuming responsibility for sterile products and unit dose preparation and distribution, automation and information systems, purchasing, contracts and operations management.  Our Chapter offers the unique blending of CE programs, an opportunity for members to give back to their community and the chance to network with other pharmacy technicians and health care professionals.
In the summer of 2001 our Chapter was awarded "National Chapter of the Year" at the National AAPT 2001 Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We are very proud of this accomplishment.
