The trip to Wogstock for me began in Fitzgerald,GA.  The night before I was up late boiling 40 lbs. of peanuts. I had to make sure that I had everything... diet cokes, my clothes, toothbrush, towels, cooler, lawn chair, and of course the peanuts. My kids said I acted like a kid going to camp. My wife thought I was crazy. She said as far as I knew the guy (Briny) I was meeting in Atlanta might be a serial killer. I said he certainly doesn't write like a serial killer and besides he had my autographed Prine album.

I arrived at the Atlanta airport and was at the Budget Rental Car counter, our assigned meeting place at 12:25 PM. We were suppose to meet at 1, but since I was riding with him I wanted to be early. I spent my time checking out the incoming and outgoing scenery at the airport. Hey, I think I am alright guy.  Around 1:15 I saw a bearded fellow that matched his description and he certainly looked like a college professor.

We met and raced to the car, loaded my things in his truck and took off for Indiana.  Briny drove all the way and we had a long conversation getting to know one another.  The time passed quickly and before you know it we were at WOG's. I had met Jerry previously in Jacksonville and Briny and him met at Birmingham.  Jerry met us at the door.  We chatted and watched videos, of Prine of course until 3:30. We fell asleep and WOG left to go pick up Jimmy from the airport without waking us. What a nice guy.

We met Jimmy. He was a real fine fellow. Just as neat in person as he is in the chat room.  Later we met Rick and Jane, Redbeard and Ricky, Mr. and Mrs. Space Monkey, Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Bear, Joel, PMS*red and Terry and their two young ladies, Kathy47 and hubby, JaniceKC, Bear, Rainbow and a bunch of other fine Prine friends. It was a unique experience and one I'll never forget. It reminded me of old college days, just sitting up talking and drinking. Diet cokes for me.

We all followed WOG to the concert. A caravan of Prine nutts rolling down the highway. John put on a great show as always. I have never been disappointed at any of his concerts. He puts all he has into the show. We all followed WOG back to his house. It was a rather long ride. It had been storming. When we got back I was dead tired. The 3 or 4 hours sleep I had gotten in the previous couple of days had finally taken their toll on this old man.  I stayed up as long as I could and finally found a dark corner and went to sleep.

People began to slowly leave and I said goodbye to my new friends. It was finally time for Briny and I  to leave. We said our good-byes and thanked WOG for a truly remarkable weekend.  Briny and I headed for the south. It was along ride with thunderstorms and carwrecks delaying us. We finally made it to the airport and Briny helped me unload. We said quick good-byes as both of us were tired and anxious to get home.

Jerry, I thank you for opening your house up to us. You were a gracious host. I had a wonderful time. It was fun. Thanks for all you did to make my stay enjoyable.

Briny, thanks for the ride. I don't know if I would have gone alone. You are one great guy.

Reeda, I appreciate all you do on this page, putting all this together. Keep up the good work.

Maybe next year we can meet again. I certainly want to meet Crusher, Mungo, Lost Bear, Squirrel and the others who couldn't make it.

One day y'all might even get as far south as Georgia.

See you then.
