She was walking by the pool of ice in her burlap tunic dress in the wilderness. Legs emaciated under the too large garment. Her long hair tangled and stringy, hardened with frost, in the gusts of damp cold wind. No wreaths of flowers entwined her wrists. No mad nursery rhymes twisted round her lips. She would not open her mouth for anything. The people did not want to see her. They did not want to hear her when she appeared before them in soft flowing circles not sharp dark angles that could pierce some light, however harsh into their shriveled eyes. They could not see her luster so the wanted to devour her. To suck the flesh off her body and drink the sounds bleeding out of her. |
And so she ran away to the frozen lake to mourn. I wanted to fight her fight for her with those evil vacuum people but the defeat had dulled in her eyes. She was just too tired. I told her she would die if she did not stop this fast. But the ice had formed on her lips till they were frozen over. I cried as she wrenched her brittle body away, collapsing into shards and her silver blood ran to the lake to freeze. She lives in the lake now. Her voice was so lovely. But I can't hear it through the ice if she sings at all anymore . . . |
