About Us Again?
On to the Bands!
Live End
No Dead End Here!

Thought  they were gone did ya? Think again!

Live End is alive and well and rockin' the blues in and around Central Wisconsin once again.

Originally formed as a four piece combo in the fall of 1996, the band experienced a brief break-up earlier this year. The band reunited as a three piece group in June with Amy Ashby from Wisconsin Rapids on bass and vocals, Jason Rabuck of Monroe Center on harmonica, guitar and vocals and Steve Napleone from Sheboygan on drums and vocals.

Take it from someone who has seen the band... it's a good thing!

Live End is a powerhouse group that describes their music as "rockin' blues". Playing music from Siegall Schwall to Koko Taylor to Kid Ramos, SRV, BB King and Albert Collins to name a few, certainly fits that billing.

Having played all over the state in their previous incarnation, from Presque Isle and Mercer up north to La Crosse in the east and everything in between, including a few major bike events like the Wausau Bike Show, Live End , so far since reforming, has been playing gigs primarily in the Castle Rock Lake area including Necedah and Nekoosa.

Pine Cove and Shipwreck Bay are generally some sure bets to catch the band in action, but watch for them to branch out further again soon.

If you haven't seen them for awhile, or you are as yet uninitiated, get to the first show you can find. With a great live show that not only involves the audience, but seems to depend on the audience to bring out it's best, Live End is a band worth checking out time and again.

Amy has promised to keep WBMR updated on show dates so check our Coming Events often for an appearance near you.

Another year, another Waterfest gone by. Did ya catch it? If not you missed a great time at a great event!

The 2nd Annual Adams/Juneau County Waterfest held on Saturday August 4th couldn't have occured on a better day. The sun was bright, the temperature hot, the humidity... not too shabby. The bands were blessed to find the stage set in an area shaded by a humongous pine tree that didn't necessarily keep them cool, but at least comfortable.

Tally's on attendance and financial intake for this non-profit event are not yet available, but from this writers standpoint, this years Waterfest seemed bigger than last years. As the event hopes to grow... this is a good sign.

The Boat Parade, (while slightly behind schedule) and the fireworks were of course spectacular.

However, we at WBMR are about music so... let's get to it.

The event played host to two new bands celebrating their first gigs.

The first was the opener. A young band of three brothers and a friend called Hollow Point. Most probably didn't realize that these guys had never played a live gig.

The musicianship was great, however, all of the members sang and some of the vocal trade offs are destined to become their trademark.

The second band, the first return from last years festival, was  the
Buzz Meade /Thrillhammer group who  once again have a new CD. Quite possibly tighter than ever, the band thrilled the audience and set the stage for the rest of the evening. A tough act to follow to say the least.

That brought us to the second new band. While not strangers to live performance, (
Foolish Pleasure is made up of former members of New Edition, Lost Dog and Liquid Blue), it was their first show togethor. A mix of blues, jazz and some original material went over well despite a few glitches. Foolish Pleasure is a band that should make an impact on the Wisconsin music scene in the future.

Speaking of impact... did you catch
Lost Dog, the event headliner? Wow. Tight as ever and always adding new material. And always bringing their own special twist to good old rock-n- roll.

Playing music from their upcoming CD "Which Side of the Stream Are You On?",
Lost Dog showed once again that not only do they have the area's longest musical history, but they are still the best.

And the most gracious as they provided all of the sound equipment and engineering for the event!

Here's to next year: Bigger and better!
