DOOMBRINGERS' SQUAD

IREFS "Reborn"

By now, you must be wondering what “I.R.E.F.S. Reborn” means, huh?  Well, I’ll tell you!  It means Independent Robotech Expeditionary Force Ship “Reborn.”  That may sound funny to you, but it was the result of very careful B.S. and planning, let me tell you!  Below, you’ll find her dubious history, some deck plans and more, so stay tuned!

Subject History: IREFS REBORN

During our last mission to earth, we were tasked with the removal or destruction of a Robotech Master’s Mothership that had somehow remained hidden from the Invid.  Intelligence obtained info that they were nearly done repairing an escape ship with enough protoculture to re-fuel a factory satellite and rebuild their armies.  Division 13 of the Moonbase Copernicus assault force was sent in first, and completely destroyed.  Two weeks later, utilizing special rocket-sleds to protect our VF-11’s, the Doombringers descended to the Atlantic coast of South America.  We were met by one of the few remaining Daedalus class submersibles and immediately taken deep below the surface to avoid detection by the resident Invid.  Using resources found on the ship, Bruce and Bob slaved some of the old VT-01’s to our combat computers as drones.  Using these for backup and as a diversion, we would later attack and successfully destroy the Mothership.  Before that, however, we stumbled upon a nearly intact, crashed Zentraedi ship in the jungle.  I remembered my younger days, when the factory satellite was destroyed, and my own combat team died one by one without a support ship to fall back on and evac on when the time came.  I had sworn to never allow that again.  So, Bruce and Bob, with the help of Katabrie and the other Doombringers that weren’t involved in other projects, managed to restore operability to the ship so we would never have the same problem.  Protoculture was still low, however, so it wasn’t until after the master’s horde of ‘culture was raided that the ship was powered up.

After the final battle at the mothership, involving four of us, Bruce and bob flew the ship over for pickup and we escaped a running battle with a very surprised Invid attack force.  Somewhere among our adventures, the Doombringers actually stumbled upon some of the old Zentraedi crew of the same ship, loyal to Breetai, so the ship was once again crewed by her old friends.

Upon reaching the moonbase with a huge supply of materials, excess mecha and foodstuffs, among other things, I was able to work up a deal with the Admiral to the effect that, the Reborn actually belonged the the ‘bringers and would be maintained by the REF on sort of a lease contract for services to the REF by it’s independent crew.  There was more B.S. to it, but that was essentially it.

Since the ship was obtained, there have been many modifications by our crack engineers…um…I mean drunks..er….

Anyway, Bruce and Bob now have free run of the ship.  They’re finally able to experiment to their hearts’ delight in the hanger they’ve converted to their own research area.  The bridge had micronized decks and escalators installed, much like Breetai’s own ship.  The Reborn is crewed by a mostly full size crew of loyal Zentreadi, and nominally captained by me, Wilfi Te, though while I’m is away, the ship is run by the same man who, it turns out, was the original captain.  In the lower hold, a park of sorts is under construction, with a lake, real trees, etc.  Bruce and Bob have help from some of the robotech engineers on the moonbase during their off times, since they are able to do things much more freely than the REF would normally allow them too.  (I’ve found that motivation does wonders!)

All in all, it’s worked out good.  The ship seems empty most of the time, since it’s present crew isn’t even an eighth her original size, but there’s a lot more room than on the moonbase.  At night, we usually pile into my BMW and Jana’s ATV and head for the bars in town, but we mostly keep to ourselves on the ship.  Helps the whole “Lone wolves” mystique we’ve got going.

Ok, Ok I know, enough the blabbering, tell us about the ship already.  Check it out below!
