The WHP was not really created, the beautiful, free running Mustangs that inhabit this land have been here for hundreds of years. The area is mainly inhabited by American and Nokota Mustangs. The WHP just sort of based itself around these magnificent animals.

Our goal is to protect the wild horses that roam free on our land, as well as adopt them out when the herds become too large for the forage available to them in the area.

Now you may be thinking, "Why are you adopting horses out if you are trying to preserve their freedom?". The answer to this question is simple: Mankind has prevented these horses, most of them, from being totally free. There are not enough food resources to keep all the herds healthy.

Another reason is that local residents will not hesitate to harm a curious horse. In order to protect these animals, the overflow is adopted to loving, EXPERIENCED, homes.

We have round-ups every so many months, and we do NOT use helicopters or other mechanical tactics. The round-ups are strictly on horseback, and are much like a cattle drive. Potential adopters go along on these round-ups, choose a horse from the herd they like, and that horse is cut out of the herd and brought home.

If you're interested in adopting, see the round-up schedule below for more info and round-up dates.

Instead of the round-up, you might choose to view horses that QCF has rounded-up in the past that were not adopted at the time. These horses have undergone basic ground training, but are still mostly untrained. See the Available Adoptions page below.

If you have any questions at all, you can E-mail the WHP!
