Apart from simply not using Google anymore, on the positive side, you can create your own customized start page with your preferred search fields. You can save such a customized start page offline on your hard disk.

Here you can see such an example I made for my own usage.

Creating such a start page is fun to do and rewarding, and I hope that a lot of people will find how useful a customized start page will be. You will never need to call up Google even once again.

If you find the selection of search engines on that page useful, you can download the file, save it to your HDD for offline usage and then make it your start page.

Hint: all the search engines' logos on that sample page will be loaded from the HDD and not from the Internet. I've replaced all the original URLs that would have made the logos load from the Internet with their relative location on the HDD.

BTW, I plan to open a forum soon where I'll post instructions for newbies on how to create such a start page for themselves and where people can discuss their own creations and maybe offer them for download.
