In the underground world of hip-hop music, many artist will not get as far as their local nightclub. But in Detroit, James (Jamie) Lowery, a native of the Lumbee tribe has taken his music career much further than just the local night scene. His parents, Clemmie and Myrtle (Chavis) Lowery, were born and raised in Pembroke, NC by their parents Clemmie and Ada Lowery, and James and Pearlie Chavis, then made their move to Detroit. He is also the nephew of the well-known artist, teacher, and legend teller of the Native American Culture, Mardella Lowry. One of Jamie's biggest influences as a child to becoming a performer was the very well known outdoor drama- Strike at the Wind. He has participated in the SEMI POW-wows and when he was younger he was a flag leader for the Lumbee Homecoming Parade.
Jamie started his music career back in 1995 forming a group of himself and a childhood friend, known as the Krazy Klan. In that year they released their first album titled Fustrationz then in 1999 released another album titled developMENTAL. In the year 2000, the Krazy Klan broke up. Jamie went solo, changing his name to Native Funk, releasing his first solo album Rain From the Sun. Native Funk started a lone, but original style to the hip-hop game, as he pioneered Native American rap, an experiment into his roots, produced an album of this nature. After the album was released he then met Blaze, and from there became his partner in crime, changing his name once again to Anybody Killa, also known as ABK.
In 2001, ABK began touring the country with Blaze being an opening act for the famous rap duo I.C.P, and the group Twiztid. That year he was signed to Psychopathic Records and then has been featured on many of Psychopathic Records releases. On April 8th, 2003, ABK will be releasing his first full-length album Hatchet Warrior on Psychopathic Records that will be in stores everywhere across the country.
