BE GREEN! You can slow global warming, reduce pollution and waste  at school and at home. Here are some easy and effective strategies:
Wellesley's Recycling Center
1. Recycle - You can use recycling bins to sort out these main items: cans (aluminum), plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, and styrofoam. Make sure they get to the closest Recycling and Disposal Center, commonly known as a "dump".

2. Spare electricity - Try to turn out all of the lights and electrical devices in your home before you go to sleep and when leaving the house.

3. Reuse products - Try using tubberware and other resealable containers for storing food. Also, you can decrease the amount of napkins and paper plates you use, by buying reusable plates.

4. Teachers can help too! - Most teachers leave their computers on at the end of the day. Recommend double-sided handouts and sometimes orally delivering information instead of using paper.

5. Use your feet! - Did you know that 45% of journies made in a car are within 2 miles? There are alternative ways to travel - like walking or riding a bike.

6. Save water - Be careful about how much water you waste, freshwater is extremely limited on Earth. Some things you could do to save water is take showers instead of baths, microwaving vegetables and other foods instead of boiling them, and use old "dishwater" to water your plants in the Spring and Summer. Did you know that the average shower uses 35 litres of water?
