A topic that is often discussed is Christianity and Vegetarianism. Did God intend for us to eat animals or just to befriend them? What is the meaning of DOMINION anyway? Well it is my opinion that the Hebrew word that has been translated to the Bible word Dominion actually means stewardship and protection. Just as parents have dominion over their children. Parents should not eat, harm, skin or force their children to entertain. This should not be done to our animal brothers and sisters. Whatever you translate the word dominion to mean it most definatly does not mean TO EAT.
In Genesis 1:28 God says "Have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." The next Genesis 1:29 God states "Behold I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food."
Why was such a distinction made? Because God did not want man to murder and eat his brother and sister animals but to protect them.
It is my belief that God has given man such diseases as cancer, heart disease, Crohns disease, Crutzfeldt Jacob disease and many other illnesses cause by the consumption of animal flesh and by products to punish man for his abuse of animals and to try to prove to him that doing this is wrong.
It is hard to believe that people who harm animals don't feel guilt, don't feel pain, but it is probably because they have never thought about what animal flesh is really about. The murdur of another of God's creatures. Once someone really sits down and looks at this he or she will begin to feel guilt and begin to ponder the meaning of every life on earth and eventually accept passed sins and decide to change his or her life. He will then make the change to the life of compassion.
