Messages from CJ's Genealogy Corner

World Trade Center/Pentagon mjalyn (31/F/WA) 9/11/01 1:03 pm Off the subject of genealogy, may God be with those that were on the planes, in the WTC, and the Pentagon. May he also be with those in the State Department that was also bombed. And may God be with all those sailors, soldiers, marines, and air force that are deployed. Marea

Re: World Trade Center/Pentagon grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/11/01 1:38 pm Oh Marea, I have been crying all morning and can't stop. I am having a hard time even typing this message. I can't believe what has happened. The U.S.A. is also my Country. My father was in WWII, and I never thought I would ever have to go through anything like that
in my lifetime. I guess I was wrong. What a terrible, terrible thing to happen. I just came online and the first thing I did was come to my family on the internet. I saw your message and just cried some more. PLEASE LET US PRAY FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN INJURED IN ANYWAY. There are too many groups of people to select and I might miss some, so, let's pray for everyone. I will be between my computer and the TV, so if anyone really needs me, try contacting me and I will turn up my speakers. PLEASE, at this time, I cannot handle anything on the genealogy topic. My mind cannot comprehend anything else. grammy

Re: World Trade Center/Pentagon mjalyn (31/F/WA) 9/11/01 2:27 pm It was a phone call from my mom in canada that let me know about the news. The bases here were my dh is stationed are on Threatcon Delta so we don't know if he is coming home tonight or not. We found out that we weren't able to contact his sister because she is at the Air Force
base where the President landed. They have even annouced that Canada is shutting down it's
airports. We can not believe that some person was able to organize the taking over of 4 planes
and crash them into places. They now believe that the plane that crashed in Pittsburg was
headed for Camp David. I hope that they find out who it was (suspicion is pointing to Bin
Laden) and kill him! Marea

From NY...it's too unbelievable... rivileh (33/F) 9/11/01 3:07 pm I live in NYC and I can tell you that this is too much to be believed. The whole city is immobilized. The WTC is GONE! I can't believe that because of a decision I made recently, I was not there. I recently left my job which was right next to the WTC. I've been in there so many times. I am in complete shock! 50,000 people work in that building...they say so far they are estimating 10,000 dead. I don't mean to go on and on but you can imagine the shock we city people are in right now. I can say without hesitation that the people responsible are pure evil. My husband is from Israel and just the other day he was telling me that Americans can't imagine what it is like to live under constant terrorist attacks. I said that was something I hoped we never had to know. I am completely devastated. My prayers to everyone. G-d help us.... Rivi

PRAY ! carsieca (F/Ontario, Canada) 9/11/01 3:45 pm Just Pray for everyone !!

Re: PRAY ! genzoli (44/F/n. ca) 9/11/01 4:06 pm our prayers are with those who are in harms way. If you have to ability please call your local red cross, and find out where you can donate blood or plasma. If you are AB+ please ask to donate plasma if they need it. genzi

To our American members awp_44 (M/Victoria, Australia) 9/11/01 7:51 pm I have been watching the events in America unfold for most of the night on TV and send to all my American Friends and the American people my condolences and to let you know that there are many people in Australia thinking of you at this time. Alan

Hi everyone, Rivi, I'm so glad that you are alright. After reading your message and learning that you live or work right in the middle of Manhattan, N. Y., things must really seem unreal. Just heard of another building that caved in due to the damage it suffered today. Was that the one that you worked in? Oh, wow, whatever your reason for not going into work today, how lucky for you. It is bad enough seeing all the damage on TV, without actually being there. I think I can speak for our American members, including myself, living in Nova Scotia, thank all of you who have expressed your concern. This has not been one of our better days. One thing that I am grateful for today, is how both the U.S. and Canada work so well to help each other. Another thing I am grateful for is our club and the clubs in our ring. It is so comforting to know that you can come here or the other clubs and know that you have friends you can talk to. I always said that it is my home on the internet, and today really proved that. Genzi was in her CGC chat room today, and available for anyone that wanted to talk. I was in there maybe 15 minutes, but I did feel better afterwards. Thanks genzi, I hope we kind of comforted each other. Please continue to post your messages and maybe you will feel better too. Sometimes when people are hurt they may say things that others might think shouldn't be said. But to any that do, please let us vent. Our members depend on each other and this is one of those times. I will continue to check in and if there are other members that are in any of those locations that were hit today, please if at all possible, leave a brief message that you are o.k. grammy Yes, Marea, the Canadian Airports have been closed to all domestic flights, because of making room available for all the planes that were to land in the U.S. St. John's, Newfoundland, and Halifax, Nova Scotia are both airports in my area, and are very busy and full, with all the jumbo planes with hundreds of people. I believe the number of people is in the thousands, who were on these planes. Now, they are trying to find places for these people to stay. This is all so unbelievable.

With Love, From Canada sandiew2000 (42/F/Ft. Erie,ON,Canada) 9/11/01 11:09 pm To all in our group, and to all of our neighbours in the USA, our love and prayers are with you tonight. I live in a town on the Canada/US border, and there is such heartache and disbelief. May God help us all. Sandie

Re: Attack On the U.S.A. breezybray (F/Florida -Oregon) 9/12/01 11:31 am It is the day after.. the lives of all Americans has been changed forever-it is a day of mourning, caring & staying calm. Our borders are closed, our skies are quiet. Our Military is protecting our shores & our skies. I fear the worst is yet to come. I fly our flag in respect for all that have lost their lives not only for America but the World. I read this in this mornings Tampa tribune by Cal Thomas- "Tough words will not be enough. A single retaliatory strike will not suffice. There needs to be a decision by free nations everywhere to rid the planet of people and organizations that engage in such acts." Thank-you for letting me have a spot to express myself & for everyone on this special genealogy board- my daughter is a Staff Sgt. US Army who lost friends & co-workers yesterday. My heart is hurting for her.

Yesterday's Tragedy daisy_the_dog (45/F/Calgary/Canada) 9/12/01 11:55 am My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lost loved ones due to the tragic events which occured yesterday. I am still in a state of disbelief. I want to share with you a part of a letter which was sent home from the principal of our school. This letter was sent to all staff of our board of education from the acting Chief Superintendent of Schools. "As we live through this tragic moment in history, we must all find it in our hearts to reach out to others, to hold fast to that which is pure and good, and to love our neighbours. Our hope as a human race requires mighty acts of unconditional love for others. With this commitment alone will we be able to hew some stones of hope out of this mountain of despair." Riitta

Re: Attack On the U.S.A. grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/12/01 12:05 pm Yes breezybray, it is a new day, and my heart hurts just as much as it did yesterday. I was hoping that today might be a little easier, but I do still find myself in tears. My heart is also with your daughter and the friends that she has lost. Also, to all of those families that have lost family and friends. I have been in contact with my family members and have been told that everyone is safe. My cousin lives on Long Island, but I imagine she has lots of friends who have been lost. My husband also lowered our Canadian Flag, out of sympathy to what has happened. It is still unbelievable. I'm glad you did check into our club and that you also can find some comfort in being able to write what is in your heart on this message board. I found myself, yesterday, that I also felt a little better, if one can, after posting to this club and reading what our other members have written. I think we can see that we are not alone. grammy

our ancestors and generations to come... rivileh (33/F) 9/12/01 12:41 pm well, last night I hardly slept. The sounds of the military planes woke me up repeatedly. I woke up in fear that somehow it was another attack. My husband had to remind me that there are no civilian planes flying and reassure me that these military planes are for our safety. Still, it was hard for me to sleep. This morning I started to think about what will be left for future generations. We have to make this world safer or we will have nothing good to leave them. I also thought about our ancestors, many of whom fought in wars or for social justice or did many other things which have allowed us to have the freedoms and scientific advances that allow many of us to live the good way we live. Will we let the evil people of this earth, whoever and where ever they are, destroy everything????? I do not mean to be overly dramatic. But I am frightened of what the impact of all this is going to be. I got another dose of reality this morning when I watched the BBC news and saw how the markets are being affected around the world. This is something the US news in not reporting right now, except maybe the financial channels which I never watch. I feel helpless and scared. I also feel a vague anger rising up in me. I hope I do not become completely bitter and void of any trust. I want to be a person who has faith and hope. Thank you all around the world who have offered help to us here in the U.S.. It is very comforting, probably more than you know... Rivi

Re: our ancestors and generations to com grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/12/01 1:21 pm Rivi, all the feelings that you are experiencing are normal. You are not alone. As a U.S. citizen, I also have these same feelings as well as other members in this club and others. I hope you can find some comfort in the messages on our message board. I know that I have. I have talked to many members and thank them all for their comforting words. Please keep posting because it does seem to help. grammy

Re: From NY...it's too unbelievable... cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/12/01 10:01 pm Oh Rivi!! Thank heavens you left your job!! We are praying for all of you here! I know that we can not really know what you are feeling totally, but I can tell you how angry I am that these groups sometimes use Canada as a way to make their way to the USA easier. My husband and I hope and pray that those responsible are hunted down and killed! Again I am so glad that you are SAFE! Sincerely, CJ

Re: Attack On the U.S.A. cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/12/01 10:10 pm Please send your daughter our condolences and our prayers and our love! Yesterday's events were horrific and I can not tell you how much it pains me to see the devestation on t.v. and hear about it on the radio. Our local Wal-mart is now taking up a collection for the Red Cross Relief fund and from what I could see while checking out, everyone, even teenagers, were digging into their pockets and purses to give! You're all in my prayers! CJ

So far we are safe....... sandiew2000 (42/F/Ft. Erie,ON,Canada) 9/12/01 10:42 pm Tonight the international bridge near the duty free store where I work was the victim of a bomb threat. Every road into the store..and toward the bridge was sealed off by police. For three hours there was nothing but an eerie silence, and deserted highways and local roads. I have never before in my life, other than on television, seen a bomb squad. I never felt in any immediate danger, but who is safe these days? They even evacuated Canada Customs, and all of the bridge authority employees. So far me and mine are all safe...pray for those who are not so lucky. The world is upside-down tonight. Sandie

Re: So far we are safe....... cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/12/01 11:31 pm Oh Sandie, please tell me you are not at the Queenston Bridge, my hubby is on his way there even as I write this, in his truck! Please say that all is okay, no bombs!! CJ

Re: So far we are safe....... sandiew2000 (42/F/Ft. Erie,ON,Canada) 9/12/01 11:44 pm Cj...I'm so sorry if I frightened you, the Queenston Lewiston bridge is open again, as is our Peace Bridge...There are sick people out there who think such threats are funny...it was scary, but all is well. Your hubby can expect delays, but he is safe..all is quiet and all is well right now. Please don't worry. I'll keep you guys posted from here at the border... Tomorrow I'm right at the bridge from 9-5. Sandie

Re: So far we are safe....... johnhoul (46/M/Perth W.A. Ex Cheshire) 9/12/01 11:50 pm Hi CJ, Sandy said the bridge is closed so he cannot get on it, if its the same bridge. John

Re: So far we are safe....... johnhoul (46/M/Perth W.A. Ex Cheshire) 9/12/01 11:56 pm Hi Sandie, Now we have to worry about you, right at the bridge with lunitics who think threats are funny, the people who get hurt when panic starts. Be carefull and keep your head low. John

Re: So far we are safe....... cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/13/01 12:23 am Thanks for the update! Be Safe!! well at least as safe as you can be!! CJ

Please don't worry..... sandiew2000 (42/F/Ft. Erie,ON,Canada) 9/13/01 7:14 am John, please don't worry. We have faced bomb threats before, and we'll face them again. I have every faith in Canada Customs, the RCMP, OPP, and the regional police, and the Peace Bridge authority to keep us safe. These things are just taken more seriously in light of recent events. And nothing compares to the agony of mind suffered by those who have lost, or whom cannot find, family members and friends. The delays at the border are a mere inconvenience in comparison. CJ and Grammy, may I ask that these messages of the last few days remain on the message board forever? In testimony of the caring that crosses borders and oceans? This caring is stronger than the evils we face. Stay safe everyone! You are all in my thoughts today. There is a bond in our little family in this group that is unlike others. We genuinely care about each other. Sandie

Re: Please don't worry..... johnhoul (46/M/Perth W.A. Ex Cheshire) 9/13/01 8:22 am Hi Sandie, I was born to worry, if I have nothing to worry about I start to worry something is wrong that I have nothing to worry about. Sorry I'm trying to bring a smile in this time of heartache, have you heard from CJ, as she heard from her husband yet, did you give him a quick wave when he went through. I agree with you the messages over the last couple of days should be saved , I'm sure CJ and Grammy will have a special place for them to be viewed for future members to see the concern that the members have for each other.I just hope that the love, prayers and faith in this world are enough to get everybody through this crisis. Goodnight from Australia, John. PS, I couldn't even bring a smile to my own face tonight.

Re: Please don't worry..... cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/13/01 12:06 pm Of course we will save the messages of the past few days and any others that have to do with these horrible events. I think that Grammy and I will be able to come up with a web page of sorts to show our support, our grief, and our love! By the way I heard from hubby this morning and he is alright, a little worn out from the long wait at the border, but he is fine! Thanks for the update last night it really meant a lot to me! CJ

Re: Please don't worry..... grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/13/01 1:41 pm Hi Sandie, yes, I agree. These messages really go to show how our club sticks together in times like this. I still have 45 messages in my mail box. I had already run off 5 pages of messages on this tragedy. I think it would be very nice cj, to do some kind of a Memorial page using these messages so that everyone can see how much we care about each other no matter where we live. I'm sure we can come up with something!! grammy

A Tribute grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/14/01 12:42 am Hi everyone, Here is a URL that pays Tribute to the events that took place in the U.S.A. Thanks genzi, for posting it. http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/IceWalker/ATributetotheVictimsandFamily.html grammy

CJ's Tribute!! grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/14/01 1:14 am Thank you CJ, I came back online late tonight and went to the page that CJ is making to keep all of our messages on the attack in the U.S. When I first saw the page there were 2 messages on it, now there are many, many messages. CJ has been working very hard on this page for us, and I would like to give her a big THANK YOU. It is a very special way to keep what happened that dreadful day as a Memorial, so we will never forget what happened and to show any future members what our club is made of. http://www.oocities.org/SouthBeach/Plaza/3316/terrorist_memorial.html I would like to give you my very biggest THANK YOU, CJ!! I hope you realize who much it means to us. grammy

Re: A Tribute lookn4fam 9/14/01 2:08 am I love this site! I think it is a beautiful beautiful site and it brought tears to my eyes. Angi

News I just received! cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/14/01 10:36 am Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share some news about a personal request that my hubby and I made to the school my children go to and the result of that request. Being the people that we are, we were very upset and angry about the events of September 11th and we know that there really just isn't enough that just one or two people could do. We have tried our best to explain what happened to our children and each of them expressed much caring and compassion. Gary and I weren't really sure at first how our children would be able to express their thoughts to the people of New York until hubby came up with a wonderful idea. Yesterday we sent a letter to the school asking if they would consider having all the children send letters to New York City expressing their sympathy and condolences. So that they would know that we stand behind our Prime Minister when he expressed our country's condolences. We recieved a phone call today and not only are our students going to be writing the letters but our school is also going to donate 10% of the money they make from our fundraiser to the Disaster Relief fund! I can not express how very proud I am right now, that because of an idea that Gary had our school has decided to do so much more than we could have ever wished for! CJ

Letters to NY sandiew2000 (42/F/Ft. Erie,ON,Canada) 9/14/01 11:42 am Hi CJ! I thought it was a great idea! The last 2 days my children's classes have been writing letters to kids their age in NYC. My daughter's cadet group is going to fundraise for the red cross. There is a lot that kids can do...and it helps them feel better, and, I think, a little more in control of their own lives at the moment. My love to all in the group...Sandie

Re: CJ's Tribute!! cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/14/01 8:59 pm The tribute page has been updated! I have added one of my favorite songs which you can turn on at the top of the page. I have also added the names of some of the people who perished, I will be updating it as I get the information! Hope everyone likes it! Sincerely CJ

Re: CJ's Tribute!! johnhoul (46/M/Perth W.A. Ex Cheshire) 9/14/01 10:39 pm Hi CJ, Quick question, concerning the names posted on the tribute page, have you looked at yahoos home page, there is a link to the names of the dead from the four aircraft, I was looking for a list with names of the deceased on, not in a morbid way, but at work yesterday somebody told me there had been a list on the tv of the known deceased and he had seen the name Houlgrave on it and wanted to know if it was a relative. Have you seen any links to pages with names on. Thank you, your tribute page is growing at an exceptional rate and looking good. John.

Re: CJ's Tribute!! cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/14/01 10:52 pm The list that I had came from Newspaper files on yahoo I believe, you have to be careful about other lists and stuff because they can not be counted on for being accurate! I know that grammy has a couple of links perhaps next time she is on she can post them for you! By the way there wasn't any Houlgraves on the list that I have which consists of the people who were on the planes, the persons who were confirmed dead or missing in the Pentagon. Sincerely, CJ

Canadian Help coolrogue1 (M/Arizona) 9/14/01 10:53 pm I know that alot of banter has been going around about Gordon Sinclair's article. Weather or not it applies to now I will not debate here. What I would like to do is Thank all our Canadian friends for their support in our present situation. As most people know President Bush visited NY today and right after he left the news commentator interviewed a fireman from all places Quebec Canada...He was there with a large group of fireman from Quebec..To some people it may be a small thing but to me at least it is a very BIG thing...and I want to thank our friends to the North for the support and the help all of you have given... THANK YOU Cool

Re: Canadian Help cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/15/01 8:14 pm Cool! I'm sure that I speak for the majority of Canadians when I say the US is very welcome, everyone I talk to wishes that they could do more for the you, our blood banks have had so many people show up that they have had to give them appointments to come back usually two weeks later, they are so busy. Our Red Cross is also busy taking donations for the Disaster Relief fund! It seems that right now it is more like we are one huge country rather than two. CJ

Re: New Web Page! cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/15/01 8:18 pm Thanks Grammy! It has been updated again and now contains all the people who I have that were confirmed as being dead! I will do another update when I get more information. I hope everyone likes it! CJ

Re: today's events cjayduke (39/F/Texas) 9/11/01 1:33 pm Now more than ever we need to come together as Americans and fellow countrymen. My prayers are with the families of the Tragedy and with anyone who has lost a love one in this horrendous attack on our Nation. God bless us all.

Re: today's events grammyof9_ca (57/F/Nova Scotia) 9/11/01 1:50 pm Hi genz, I can't believe what has happened!! The only reason I came on my computer today, was to be with my fellow Americans at this time. Our clubs are a comfort. To think that something of this magnitude happened in our Country today, is unbelievable. My father was in WWII, and I never thought that I would ever see something like that in this country, in my lifetime. I have been crying all day and can't seem to stop. PLEASE, LET EVERYONE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN INJURED IN ANYWAY. I am also thinking of spivey today, knowing that she lives in New York, unless she has already left. I hope she will contact this club, just so that everyone will know that she is alright. That also goes for those who may live in any of the areas, that have been hit today. May God Bless Everyone, grammy

Something to do genzoli (44/F/n. ca) 9/11/01 4:30 pm If you are feeling helpless at todays events and feel you can't do anything to help, call your local red cross and find the location of the nearest blood bank. Donating blood or plasma is something you can do that will directly help those who were harmed. If you can't help by donation because of a medical condition or some other reason, you might call anyway and ask if you can help by handing out juice or cookies or screening people for appointments. Many blood banks are overwhelmed today with people comming in to donate. Americans DO know how to pull together! My appointment is Friday. genzi

Re: today's events coolrogue1 (M/Arizona) 9/11/01 7:04 pm I like all of you am horrified by the events of today...Now is the time for us all to remember who and what we are...I have like my ancestors before me have served our country in the military and have witnessed destruction on a grand scale...but nothing like what has happened today...Today I pray for the victims and their families, I also pray for the leaders of this country.... I don't know if I will be on-line tonight or not, if not let me say this.... God Bless this country and it's people in this time of grief. Cool (Sam)

Re: Prayers from Canada cj_31_1968 (F/Canada) 9/12/01 10:51 pm I hope this small tidbit also warms your heart. Canadians across the country have been standing in lines donating blood, and today when I went to our local Wal-mart store they had large cannisters at every check out so that we could give money to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, even teenagers were reaching into their pockets to give! Re: Prayers from Canada genzoli (44/F/n. ca) 9/13/01 11:25 am I have heard there are many other nations also sending medical supplies, medical personel, and rescue teams. It is very hard to sit here and feel like we are doing nothing. It is so helpless of a feeling to know that there is little we can do directly. It is deeply gratifying to hear of those small things happening in other places and countries. As far as the film being shown on television of the palistine people cheering in the street, please keep in mind, this was not photos of a huge crowd blocking the street but a small local celebration in front of a store. The next time they show it, LOOK in the background... you can see people just driving by in their cars with puzzled looks on their faces. I would hope that people do not displace their anger on those who have done nothing here in our nation. There are many arib people here who have come to get away from their own nations. This is why our nation was built in the first place, but our nation has had a tendency to turn against races. Ask the Japanese americans from ww2 how it felt to be the enemy born here. I think we may take small comfort knowing those hijackers who were on the planes are no longer alive, and with any luck at all are burning in hell for eternity. It is now up to the US to find the rest of those cowards and put them in the same place. It seems to me there are 2 very simple solutions to keep hijackers from taking over an airplane. 1. would be to lock the pilots into their cabin, with no keys on the plane, and a remote locking system controlled by the towers alone. 2. Have a simple narcotic sprayed through the O2 system to the back of the plane so that in extreme emergencys a switch may be thrown, and everyone would just go to sleep till landing. I guess there would be problems with systems like this that I am not aware of, but it would give the hijackers a lot less to work with. Again thanks for everyone posting about what is going on in their areas. genzi

Terror, heartache at every turn watching as my country's icons begin to burn. Feeling so helpless so heartsick and sore Wanting the answer to WHY? and so much more. Feeling the beginning of hate in my heart fighting to make that feeling stop, not start. Knowing that hate makes me just like he who had so much hatred to attack ME. from Canada genzoli (44/F/n. ca) 9/13/01 2:21 pm http://boards2.parentsplace.com/messages/get/ppplayapr00n380/27.html I for one have received this in the mail several times, and still choke a bit reading it. If you have not yet had time to go to the site please do now. There is a lot of other messages there to read. I think that we can say today that there are a lot of people standing in line to help us. Here is the text of the message from the Canadian Broadcaster: A Tribute to America (taken from a Canadian Newspaper) America: The Good Neighbor. Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator, gave widespread but only partial news coverage recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record: "This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans. I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world has a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas 10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once - but several times - and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those." Stand proud, Americans.

God Bless America brnagn96 (49/F/Wisconsin) 9/14/01 9:19 pm I was watching the prayer service from the National Cathedral today. I was moved by Billy Graham's message and the President's speech. They have given us alot of hope in this time of destruction and despair. I cried when the song Battle Hymn of the Republic was sung. It was so moving. Continue to pray for our country the victims, their families, the volunteers and everyone who has been helping to get our country back to normalcy. brnagn96 Barb

From: "Sebia" Date: Tue Sep 11, 2001 5:27 pm Subject: Current Events I know everyone in this group are probably aware of the horrible news today. Myself I am in shock. Today as I sat and prayed to my Creator, thanking him for watching over me and begging him to please watch over all the injured and families that have missing or lost loved ones in New York, I realized that in this group we may have members who have people in New York or may live there themselves. I want all members to know that if they need to talk to please email me and I will be more than happy to be in our group room this evening. Also I will be making red prayer ties for my tree. I would like to encourage all members to make prayer ties and dedicate them to the victims in New York and Washington. We of Native American Heritage know how to be strong. Let us be strong for our country. If you feel you need to do something then contact your local blood donation center. Give Blood and if you can't give blood then donate time to help the centers. They will be overwhelmed and will need the extra help. May Grandfather hold you all in the palm of his hand these next tragic days and watch over all the victims today. Love Raven

From: "Nora" Date: Tue Sep 11, 2001 6:59 pm Subject: Re: [Native_American_Genealogy] Current Events Greetings, I wonder how much more it will take to wake this Nation up? The greatest Spirit of all, God above, has been telling us for so long, to wake up, Do His will, love one another, have compassion for our fellow brethren, have peace....Clean up this place and make it good again, but instead, so many are wallowing in the dirt and scum, ruining his mighty creation. So many innocent people pay with their lives, or loved ones lives, for our fellowmen, who are doing so wrong. My prayers are for all the families left here to pick up the pieces that these terrorist have created. I serve a mighty God who alone has the only rights to judge these ignorant people, who take their own lives, and so many innocent ones with them. I feel His judgment will be swift and hard. I pray for our Country, that we will do what is right, and never allow this to happen. We need to make an example of whoever is responsible for this terrible terrible act of violence against our Nation. I Have been working for 2 months to help pick up and put back the pieces of the flood victims of WV. It has been a sometimes sad and tiring job. Other times very rewarding, when I see a young child smile, to have a toy replaced, or his parents able to move back into a home, after living in a garage for months. But how do we pick up these pieces, of so many lives lost.... Well, the only answer I have is this...PRAY....PRAY...PRAY... and ask Him to guide us to do all right things needed to be done,to help heal our Nation and He will lead us all to the very spot where we all need to be, even if it's just to pray every minute of every day, for the Comfort, and Peace that passes all understanding, that only HE can give, to each soul who has been hurt or touched by this senseless act. May the Great Spirit above be with all my brothers and sisters. Peace, Nora
