INTRODUCTION

WHINCONET is a network of NGOs, Associations and CBOs founded in 2002 and recognized by the Cameroon government.
GEOGRAPHIC COVERAGE: North West, West and South West provinces of Cameroon. The Western Highland eco-region according to WWF is a biodiversity hotspot with a chain of mountains (Mt Cameroon (4095m –highest and Mt Oku or Kilum (3011m-second highest peak) and Lakes (Oku, Awing, Barombi, Wum etc).

WHINCONET OBJECTIVES

MAIN:To enhance biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation.
SPECIFIC
Enhance biodiversity conservation & sustainable management of natural resources through networking.
Share experiences & information on biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
Organize workshops,seminars,training etc. for her members in order to build their capacity.
Provide a forum where member organisations can appreciate the capacities available so that collaboration in project planning,implementation and or evaluation can be fostered.
Collaboration with other networks,projects,and organisations having similar objectives be they provincial,regional,national or international.

Community forestry
Ecological monitoring.
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Capacity Building for Member organisation
Conflict management
Information sharing
Facilitation of marketing of Non-Timber Forest Products.
Consultancies (Baseline survey,monitoring,EIA,drawing of SMPs for community forests etc)
Promotion of sustainable farming systems and income generating activities.
