Welcome to the Friends Page!

This page has a multi-faceted purpose. Its main purpose is to introduce many people who have become friends of mine over the years. While it is intended to range more broadly, many of the people featured on this page are BC students who became friends in their student days and who have remained friends as BC alumni.

In many cases, words are simply inadequate to capture nuances and special memories, and the words "You had to be there!" ring more true on this page than probably on any other within this web site. For that reason, this page will rely heavily upon pictures collected during the years, and there will be a minimal amount of verbage other than occasional captions or comments regarding the pictures (alumni will no doubt be especially grateful since they probably got more verbage than they wanted during their student years....)

Most students will remember that in my office there were numerous photographs "under glass" on my desk. Upon retirement, those photos were carefully removed and placed in a folder, and it seems only fitting that many of those photos should now appear on this web site for all to enjoy and remember! The most sensible approach to this task would be to organize the photos by decades, mainly the 1980s and the 1990s--few pictures are available from earlier decades (although memories are quite abundant!). Another facet of the page will be to present pictures that did not appear "under glass" but which are equally relevant and memorable.

MOST IMPORTANT: it is sincerely hoped that the people who see these web pages will be moved to respond to them by e-mail, thus creating a friendly, interactive atmosphere which will increase the fun factor significantly. If there are additional photos which are available and sent to me by e-mail (*.jpg, please), they will be greatly appreciated and quite possibly will be shared with all by being posted on this web site.

Incidentally, some recent alumni were recently on campus to participate in a concert for the BC Board of Trustees; the idea of this page was mentioned to them, and they thought it a good idea. Who knows what the possibilities are here (and how widely the net could be cast....)!

For the moment, I have elected not to use thumbnails, so it will probably take a while for the pictures to download. Please be patient...I believe that what you see will be worth the wait.
