Have you read the weed control history yet?

Cover those weeds with a TARP

If you are still pulling weeds, or even worse, staying out of the water because of the weeds, we've found a really simple solution. Cover the weeds with a sun-blocking tarp for about five or six weeks. When you remove the tarp, the weeds are gone! Use a few weights, like concrete blocks, to keep the tarp from sliding away. Don't leave the tarp in one place for too long or the weeds will start to grow on top of the tarp and you'll have a hard time moving it. When you move the tarp, you'll find the weeds are gone and there is a fine layer of silt, but that is easily brushed away. Perhaps if we all keep our swimming areas under control with the tarps the annual Sonar chemical treatment in the waters north of 47th Terrace will continue to control the remainder of the waters.

Keep an eye out for Manatees

A family of Manatees was last seen visiting Westwood Lake in 2004. For more information about manatees visit the Save The Manatee Club.

What happened to the
Westwood Lake Holiday Songfest?
2006 was the 23rd, and final Songfest. Only four
boats (from three households) showed up--the smallest
turnout ever. It's time to simply say,
"Merry Christmas to All, and to All, a Good Night!"
