CHAPTER 1

The sun was shining in the Irish town of Sligo during a hot day in June, and the two Norwegian friends Heidi and Janne were going to spend the next weeks of their holiday there. This was the town where Shane, Kian and Mark from their favourite band Westlife grew up. The girls walked along the road in the lovely citypark, and then into the centre of Sligo. They had a really great time, and everything was fine until Janne suddenly collapsed in front of Heidi. Heidi got worried, and didn't know what to do. Luckily, they were not far from the hospital, and therefore, Heidi ran over there to get help. At that moment, she didn't have a clue what would happen afterwards. She went as fast as she could, because she knew it was very serious. A few minutes later, she was almost at the hospital. Then she got shocked, because Shane from Westlife was standing right in front of her! She found out that he was working there. For a while, Heidi just stood there glaring, but once she had cleared her mind, she begged him to come and help her friend, who was still unconscious. "You've got to help my friend! She collapsed all of a sudden! There she is," Heidi said before she showed him where her friend was. Shane reacted quickly, and ran to Janne. He gave her mouth-to-mouth to make her conscious. But after a couple of tries, he still hadn't made it. Therefore, he brought her to the hospital. At the hospital, he did everything he could. Then he went back to Heidi, to tell her about the situation: "She isn't conscious yet, but we're hoping the best. That's the only thing we can do right now. We don't know why she collapsed." After this, he talked a bit more to Heidi. She wanted to know why he was doing this job, and how long he'd been doing it so far. "I've been doing this for about a year now. I started to study right after the end of Westlife. I love this job, but I loved the band even more. It was really fantastic!", he said and smiled to her. Heidi was smiling back, and she really couldn't believe that she finally got to meet one of her five greatest heroes. In the middle of their conversation, a female nurse interrupted them. "Janne is conscious now! Hurry up!", she said. "Heidi, stay here. You may come and see her afterwards," Shane said before going. Heidi was relieved that her friend was awake again. When Shane came to see Janne, she was very confused and tired. She was so tired, that she couldn't figure out who was standing right beside her. Shane tried to tell her who he was, but it was useless. Janne was exhausted, and her condition was still very serious. A little later, Heidi turned up. She got scared when she saw all the equipment Janne was surrounded by, but she looked somewhere else. Then she began to explain her friend what had happened: "You're in hospital. Are you all right? I was so worried about you. Look, I know you're very tired at the moment. But can you guess which person who is responsible for you while you're here? He's standing right beside you," Heidi said while smiling secretively. "I don't know, but maybe you can tell me?", Janne said. She whispered weakly, and had big trouble talking. "Shane from Westlife! He has been working here at the hospital for about a year. I got very surprised when I first found out about it, but he loves this job very much," Heidi explained. For a few minutes, Janne was absolutely quiet. Then she said: "What are you saying?! Shane?!?" She was so shocked. She spent several hours in the intensive section, but then they moved her to another section. Heidi was with her friend all the time, and they talked about different stuff.

CHAPTER 2

A few minutes later, Shane came in to see Janne. "Hi, Janne. How are you doing? I'm here to examine you. Heidi can stay if she like.", he said while smiling. "What are you going to do?", Janne said nervously. "It's not easy to say exactly, but we'll just wait and see," he replied. Heidi, who sat in a chair next to Janne's bed, took a magazine and started to read it. "Oh my God, he's going to TOUCH her! Wow!", she thought while her eyes were rolling. "OK," Shane told Janne. "The first thing you have to do now, is to take off your clothes." For a while, she just looked at him and got a bit embarrassed, but she didn't say anything. She had to do what she was told. A few seconds later, she felt something cold on her back. When she tried to say something, Shane prevented her immediately: "Don't speak now. Just breathe and be quiet, and it'll be over." After that, he had finished the first phase. The two friends looked at each other, and they still couldn't realise that Shane was now a doctor. "Oh dear, I can't believe he really touched me! It's far too good to be true," Janne thought for herself. Heidi sat with her friend all the time, and she found it very hard to believe that Shane was actually doing this job. "That's it for now. I'm leaving now, but I'll be back soon," she heard Shane telling Janne. When he had left the room, Janne exclaimed loudly: "I really can't believe this! He touched me!! It's so unbelievable. It's fantastic that I finally got to meet him!!!" "Yes, this is incredible. It's very unaccustomed to see him like this, isn't it?" Heidi asked while she was smiling hugely. Janne agreed, and before she managed to say more, Shane turned up again. "Here I am with someone who's going to give me assistance," he told Janne. She looked curious at him: "What are you going to do now?" "That'll be a few things, I guess," he replied. Just then, someone opened the door. Now, the girls got another shock, because Kian was standing there! "This can't be true! Can you believe he's doing the same job as Shane!!", Heidi thought quietly. Both she and her friend were very happy, but they didn't say it. "OK. I guess it's unnecessary to introduce this guy to you, because you know that already, right?", Shane asked while he was smiling. The girls replied quickly: "It's Kian. We know that. We've been huge fans of Westlife from the beginning, and so far, we've been to Ireland four times. Two in Dublin, and two in Sligo. I have to say it's very unaccustomed to see you doing this job," Heidi explained. "I enjoy this as well as Shane, but neither of us will ever forget the time when the band was going on. It was such a great time, thanks to all of you Westlife fans in the whole world," Kian replied. Both the girls looked excitedly at him and Shane.

CHAPTER 3

Now, Shane and Kian had to concentrate on helping Janne. Heidi continued to read her magazine, but there was a big smile on her mouth. She was so proud because she finally had met her dear Kian. Suddenly, she heard Janne say: "So, what's up next?" "We have to do different stuff. What do you say if we give you a needle in your arm?", Shane asked. "Oh no! Please, not that!", Janne thought for herself. She hated the thought of needles. "Do you really have to do that?", she wanted to know. Shane said they had to, but added it would be over soon. "OK. Let's get it done, then," Janne said as she was shaking nervously. Heidi put the magazine back on the table, and came over to Janne's bed, to give her friend support. When Janne saw the needle, she thought: "Oh my God, I don't like this at all!" But as long as she knew it was absolutely necessary, she didn't protest against it. A few seconds later, Shane and Kian were finished. Now, they were about to leave the room. "We're off now, but are coming back later this evening. Promise me that you rest," Shane told Janne. "This is great! But it is still very unaccustomed, right?", Heidi asked. Once again, Janne nodded in agreement, and she was blushing extremely. She looked down on the arm that Shane had just touched. It hurt a bit, but that didn't matter as long as it was Shane who had done the job. Again, Heidi spent all day with Janne, but in the evening, she left the chair and started walking to the door. "I have to go back to the hotel now, but I'll be back tomorrow. I'll see you then, and sleep well," she said. Then, Janne was left alone. Before leaving, Heidi said that she was going to tell Janne's parents what had happened. For a few minutes, Janne had the room for herself, and then Shane came back again. Now, Janne got another surprise, because he was not alone. He had brought Nicky - also a Westlifer. "No! This can't be true! This must be a dream!!", she thought. "This is Nicky. He chose to do the same as me and Kian when the band was over. I was expecting you to be very surprised, heh-heh," he said merrily. "Yes, I'm really surprised by this. Did all three of you start to work here at the same time?", she asked. Shane said yes, but added that he was the first one to study. The others came along after a while. When they had finished talking about that, Shane explained that Nicky was going to sit with her all night and watch over her, so that nothing serious happened. "See you tomorrow. Sleep well," Shane said. Then he left the responsibility to Nicky, and went home.

CHAPTER 4

That night, Janne had big trouble sleeping. It was two reasons: she was still in a very serious condition, and she was very confused. "Are you doing fine?", Nicky asked. He looked very worried at her. "No, not quite. The pain is unbearable," Janne replied. Nicky decided to help her the best he could, and then it got a bit better. But he stayed with her all night anyway. When Janne woke up early the next morning, Shane came back. "Hi! How are you today?", he asked while he pulled the curtains in the window. There were light green walls in the room, and they were decorated with different pictures. There was a picture of Westlife on Janne's desk next to her bed. Outside, the sun was shining, and the weather was lovely. Shane continued: "I spoke to Nicky before I came here to see you. He told me you had a painful night." Janne nodded. "Yes. But I'm not feeling any better today," she said, before adding: "Any plans for today?" "We'll see, but I'm afraid I have to 'bother' you again," he said while he was smiling. Janne looked at him and smiled back. She was happy. Not because of what had happened, but because she was in close contact with the big love of her life. She had been in love with him for a very long time. But she didn't dare to admit it yet. She wanted to wait for the right moment to come. Just before Shane was going to give Janne some more medical help, someone knocked at the door. It was Heidi. "Hi! I'm back to visit you again!", she said with a merry smile on her mouth. She went straight to Janne and gave her a hug. Then she sat down. "Are you OK today?", Heidi said. Janne shook her hair, but Shane explained that everything would be fine. "I still don't know why you collapsed, but we'll probably know that very soon," he said. Janne and Heidi were relieved to hear that they finally were going get the answer. After a while, Shane said he had to examine Janne once again. He checked her carefully, and then he was on his way out. "I'll be back later," he said. Then he left the room. "I don't dare to tell him that I'm in love with him," Janne said laughing. "No, I can understand that. Take your time, and you'll make it eventually," Heidi said encouraging. Suddenly, Janne looked excitedly at her friend, and said: "Do you know who was sitting here with me all night?" Her friend said 'no', and then Janne began to explain: "You'll be very shocked! Nicky has been with me all night to watch over me. Can you imagine how shocked I was when I found out that he's working here, too. Isn't it great?", Janne said happily. Heidi just sat there glaring for a few seconds, 'cause she couldn't believe this was actually true. "Nicky too?! You must be joking, right?!", Heidi said. She was in shock. "No, I'm not joking. Just ask Shane if you like," Janne said, while she was humming her fave song 'Flying Without Wings'. Suddenly, Heidi finally realised that her friend was actually telling the truth. "This is crazy. Now we know what kind of job the three of them have, but what about Bryan and Mark?", Heidi asked. Janne said she didn't know that yet, but added that Shane probably would tell them later.

CHAPTER 5

For a few minutes, the two friends were talking about different stuff. But then Janne suddenly became pale and descended in her bed. Heidi got very worried, and had to react immediately. "I'll call Shane!", she said, and grabbed the alarm clock which was placed on Janne's table. Right after the call, Shane came running into the room. Heidi immediately began to explain: "Everything happened so fast! We were talking to each other, and suddenly she became pale and quiet. Then she descended in her bed." She was very nervous. Shane tried to calm her down, before saying he was going to get Kian. "I'll be back very soon!", he promised. In the meantime, Heidi sat with her friend, hoping that everything was going to be OK. When Shane and Kian came in to the room, Heidi was still very nervous. She took a magazine and tried to read it, while she was thinking: "Oh my God, I don't dare to think about what has happened to her! Please say she'll be OK!" Suddenly, she heard Shane say: "We have to take her back to the intensive section. Come on, we have to hurry!" Heidi hid the face in her hands, but she noticed that they moved her friend. "What's going on?", she asked. "I'm sorry, Heidi, but there's no time to explain. We're in a hurry. I'll be back later to explain everything. Stay here," he said. For two hours, she waited for someone to come, and when Shane turned up, she left the chair. "What is it? You look so serious! Say something! Please!", she begged. Shane began to explain: "Sit down, Heidi. There's something I have to tell you. Janne's condition is very serious. She got a very strong reaction, and fell in coma just a few minutes ago. We still don't know why she collapsed, and neither why she's in coma now. We won't know that until she wakes up again, but that can take a long time. No one knows when she wakes up." Heidi was shocked. Everything went so fast. First, they had a nice walk in the city. Then Janne collapsed, and now she was in coma. The whole thing was so unreal. Shane placed his hand on her shoulder to give her support. Then he said: "You may go and see her now if you manage. But she can't hear you. He followed her all the way. Janne was not far away from her own room. She was surrounded by a lot of equipment. Heidi sat down next to the bed, and held Janne's hand. She was totally aware that Janne couldn't hear her, so she didn't say anything at all, she just sat there quiet.

CHAPTER 6

Heidi sat with her friend for several hours. Shane turned up very quickly. He looked very worried, and said: "You've been here for ages. You look absolutely exhausted. How do you feel?" Heidi looked at him, and replied: "Yes, I am really exhausted, and I don't feel well at all." "Oops, that doesn't sound good. I think I'd better examine you just for sure," he said. Heidi said it was OK with her, and then Shane brought her to another room. He talked to her for a couple of minutes, before he examined her carefully. "There's nothing else but an exhaustion. Look, I think you should take a walk. If anything happens to Janne, I'll let you know immediately. Give me the number to your mobile, and I'll call you. as soon as possible. OK? I'll stay with Janne all the time," he promised. At first, Heidi didn't want to leave, but she knew Shane was right. She gave him the number to her mobile, and then she went to the city. Shane watched over Janne all the time, and he was hoping that she would soon wake up. He was keeping a big secret. He kept looking at her all the time, while he held her hand. In the meantime, Heidi walked along the streets in Sligo, and she was very excited if Janne would ever become fully recovered again. Shane was still sitting with Janne at the hospital when he suddenly felt her hand moving. Slowly, she opened her eyes. The first she said was: "What happened?". "Be quiet. It's very important that you don't speak now. You've been in coma. Heidi sat with you for several hours, but she went to town three hours ago. I'll give a call and tell her that you're conscious again," he said. "Good," Janne said with a weak voice. In the centre of Sligo, Heidi waited nervously for the call to come. Suddenly, the phone rang. "Hello?", she said. "Hi! It's Shane. Hurry back to the hospital, Janne is awake!", he said in a happy mood. "Is she? That's great! I'll be there very soon!", she said. Then she ran fast back to the hospital.

CHAPTER 7

Ten minutes after Shane had given Heidi the good news, she arrived at the hospital. Then she went straight to Janne's room. "Hello, how are you feeling? I was really worried about you when you were in coma," she said. Janne replied back, with a very weak voice: "I think I feel better now. But I don't know what happened. I can't remember anything." Heidi turned to Shane, and looked very worried. Shane told her it was normal that Janne couldn't remember what happened before she fell in coma. "It'll take some time. But now we'll soon know why she collapsed," he added. After a while, Heidi decided to stay with her friend all day. "I'm glad you're here. I need your support," Janne said. Then Shane said: "We'll keep you in here till tomorrow, and then you'll be brought back to your room." Janne and Heidi talked to each other about so many different things, but after a couple of hours, Janne felt very exhausted. Therefore, Heidi decided to leave earlier than she had planned. "I'll see you tomorrow. You better take a rest now," she said. When Heidi had left, Shane sat with her all the time - included the evening. "Are you doing fine?", he asked. "Yes, I feel fine as long as you're here with me," she replied. She gave him a huge smile, but still kept the secret to herself. The next day, Shane took her back to the other room. "It'll be great to get back to that room," she thought quietly. She liked her own room better than the room she had spent this night in. When they were half-way, Kian came running towards them. "What's going on? Has there happened anything?", Shane asked. "Yes, it has. Heidi will soon arrive at the hospital. She was involved in an accident. I need your help when she arrives," Kian explained. "OK. I'll just take Janne back to her room first," Shane replied. Janne got nervous, and said: "I really hope there's nothing serious with her." Shane looked at her. "No, I'm sure it's not. But it's very important for you to take it easy," he said strictly. When Janne was brought safely back to her room, Shane left her. He promised to get back as soon as possible. A bit later, Heidi arrived. One of her legs was broken, and she also had some wounds. Apart from that, she was OK. Shane and Kian took her to a room down the corridor. "Heidi, is everything OK with you?", they asked. "I think so, but it really, really hurts!", she said. Shane and Kian quickly understood that they had to do something about it, and examined her carefully. "Heidi, you have to take off your clothes," Kian said. Heidi looked at him for a while, and blushed. But she had to do it. She managed to be quiet when Kian examined her. "This is very embarrassing," she thought. When he had finished that part, he got some help from Shane. "Now, we'll just give you an injection and sort out the rest," Shane said. "OK," Heidi said nervously. She wasn't to keen on getting needles, but it was necessary. Therefore, she remained calm. After a couple of hours, Heidi's leg was plastered. Then they sent her to Janne's room. Janne was in bed thinking about Shane when Heidi arrived. "Hi, how are you?", Janne asked. "I'm fine, I think. But as you can see, my leg is broken. What about you?", Heidi asked. Janne said she felt a bit better now, but she really wanted to know what had happened to Heidi. "I was hit by a car when I was on my way to visit you," Heidi replied. Shane and Kian made sure that both the girls were doing fine, and then they left. "Have you told Shane you're in love?", Heidi asked. She was excited. Janne blushed, and gave her an answer: "No, but when he gets back, I will."

CHAPTER 8

In the middle of the day, Shane and Kian came back to see the girls. "Hope you're OK!", they said. "Yes, we are. Especially now, and that's because you're here with us," Heidi and Janne said happily. A few seconds later, Janne became very impatient, and decided to tell Shane what she felt. "Shane, there's something I have to tell you. Please come closer," she begged. He accepted the invitation, and went over to the bed. Then he sat down beside her. Finally it was time to reveal everything: "Shane, I'm deeply in love with you. I have been so in love for a very long time. So far, it was only Heidi who knew about it. I didn't know when I was going to tell you this. But I felt this was the right moment," Janne explained carefully. Shane looked very surprised at her. "What are you saying? Do you really love me?", he said while laughing. Then he added: "I sort of knew that already, because I've noticed how you've been reacting when I came to see you. Actually, I understood it when you woke up from coma." Janne kept looking at him. "God, he knew about it all the time," she thought quietly. Shane quickly interrupted her. "Janne, this was really great news. I'm so happy you told me about it. You see, I'm in love with you, too." Janne nearly got shocked when he revealed his feelings for her. She was so happy. It was unbelievable, but very true. "I must be dreaming!", she thought to herself. A few seconds later, she noticed that Shane was leaning towards her. Suddenly, he gave her a big kiss on her mouth. Janne immediately repaid his kiss, and now she felt like being in heaven. Heidi was happy that her friend finally got to kiss the big love of her life. "I really hope that Kian will be back soon," she said to herself. While she was waiting for him, she saw how Shane and Janne kissed each other. After the second kiss, Shane said: "Oh, that was absolutely lovely. Well, it's time to examine you again." Janne said it was OK with her, and did exactly what she was told. After a couple of minutes, it was over. "It looks much better now. By the way, now we know what caused your collapse the other day. It was an extreme poisoning. And you fell in coma because of a strong relapse," Shane told Janne. Heidi heard everything, and both she and Janne were happy because they finally knew it. It was a big relief.

CHAPTER 9

When Shane had explained what caused Janne's collapse, someone suddenly knocked at the door. Then Bryan and Mark came in. The girls looked very surprised at each other, but Shane just kept smiling all the time. "Hi, guys! I'm so glad you were able to come here. Let me introduce you to Heidi and Janne, two Norwegian girls. They're spending their holiday in this city, but as you can see, both of them have had an accident. That's why they're here with us now," Shane explained. "Hello! Nice to meet you girls," Bry and Mark said. "Bry? Mark? I don't believe this!", Heidi thought to herself while looking at both of them. "These guys are our assistants. So, now you know," Kian said. "Wow, I think it's amazing that all of you got the same jobs after the end of Westlife. And it's also amazing that you work in the same hospital. I'm really impressed!", Heidi said. Her friend nodded in agreement. Suddenly, Kian looked at Heidi. She was pale, and he got very worried about her. "Heidi, do you feel well? I think you look a bit pale," he said. "I don't know... My wounds are aching," she replied. When Kian heard that, he got even more worried. Therefore, he decided to examine her immediately and give her help. After a while, she felt a bit better, but it still hurt. As the time passed away, Nicky came to join the others. Shane had given him a call. The girls and the guys were talking about everything: the band, the new job and the girls. Suddenly, Heidi and Janne got very eager, and said: "Can you sing a Westlife song for us? Please??" The guys looked at each other, and decided to make the wish come true. Heidi and Janne were very happy, and they really enjoyed it when the guys were singing "Flying Without Wings". When they had finished the singing, they got plenty of positive comments. "It was absolutely beautiful!!!", the girls beamed. Shane, Kian and the other guys kept smiling to the girls. "Well, I'm afraid we have to leave soon, to check on the other patients in this section. But before we go, I'll just make sure you're OK," Shane said to Janne. Then he examined her. "Wow, he's touching me again," Janne thought during the examination. When it was over, he confirmed that so far, everything was fine. Janne's condition was not any worse. A couple of seconds later, Shane and the other guys were on they way out. "Please let us know immediately if anything happens to you," they told the girls. When the two friends were left alone in the room, Janne said: "Despite the fact that both of us have an accident, something positive happened as well. Don't you agree?" Janne was smiling. Heidi totally agreed with her best friend: "Yes, it sure has. I'm really looking forward to tell Kian that I love him. I want to share my life with him. And I know you want to share your life with Shane," Heidi said. Janne looked at her friend, and she knew very well that Heidi was right. She was excited about how Kian would react when Heidi gave him her message. The two of them were left alone in the room all day, but Shane turned up again in the evening. Heidi looked disappointed. "Why is he coming alone? Where's Kian?!", she thought quietly. Shane looked quickly at her. He understood that something was going on, because he noticed that Heidi was blushing. "Tell me Heidi, you're waiting for Kian, right?", he asked while laughing. Heidi had to admit he was right. "Yes, I am. Do you have any idea where he might be at the moment? There's something important I have to tell him," Heidi explained. Shane replied that Kian was somewhere else in the division, but added: "Kian will be here very soon." "Great," Heidi said happily. She could hardly wait till he got back.

CHAPTER 10

Shane was now on his way to Janne's bed. He sat down, and kissed her for a long time. They were hugging each other, and they had a very romantic time together. Heidi kept looking at them. Suddenly, Kian finally showed up. "Hi! I'm so happy to see you again! I have to tell you something really important. Sit down next to me, please," she said. For a moment, Kian just stood there looking at Shane, but all he said, was: "Don't look at me, I have no idea what she's trying to tell you." Then, Kian turned to Janne. She was very secretive. "So, what do you want to tell me, then? You're blushing!", Kian told Heidi. She got embarrassed, and figured out that she had to tell him her secret as soon as possible. "Kian, I love you. I fell in love with you a long time ago. I never thought I'd meet you, but now I finally have. I'm so happy we met and got to know each other. I'm also very happy because you know my secret now," she said. At first, Kian just sat there looking at her, and then he said: "Are you in love with me? That's.... That's great news!!!" Heidi was surprised because Kian was so delighted. "Are you happy?", she asked. "Yes, I am very happy about this. You see, I love you, too!". He was smiling. Janne and Heidi looked at each other, and they were talking loudly while the other guys were still with them. "They really, really love us! This is absolutely great!!" Then, Kian leaned towards Heidi. He gave her a warm and lovely kiss. She placed her arm round him, and they both enjoyed every second of what they were doing. A bit later, Shane and Janne did exactly the same as their best friends. With that, the room was suddenly transformed into a real lovepad.

CHAPTER 11

The girls were so happy because their sweethearts had told them exactly what they wanted to hear. It was absolutely brilliant. Because of this, both of them wanted to stay at the hospital a bit longer. Suddenly, Shane gave Janne another kiss. After that, he said: "Janne, I've got some very good news for you. You can leave the hospital soon. At the moment, it's impossible for me to say exactly when you can leave. But I'll make sure you get to know it as soon as possible." He kept smiling to her. For a while, Janne looked at him without saying anything. She was thinking very hard: "I don't want to leave the hospital. I want to be with my love." As the time went by, Kian gave Heidi the same message. She was hoping to stay a bit longer, to spend some more time with her new boyfriend. Suddenly, Shane exclaimed: "Janne, I love you truly and deeply. You're the best that have ever happened to me!". Kian and Heidi were saying the same things to each other. After a couple of hours, the guys had to go home, because their day at work was over. They promised to get back early the next morning. Both the guys told their girlfriends how much they loved them, and everyone was hoping that the night would pass by quickly. Early the next morning, Shane and Kian came back to wake up their girlfriends. "Hi! How are you today? We've really been missing you," they said. Heidi and Janne replied that they'd miss their boyfriends, too. Everyone was happy to see each other again. "Janne, you can leave tomorrow. But someone has to look after you and you'll also need a few check-ups, to prevent any more relapses," Shane said. Janne looked quickly at him. "Are you coming to visit me while I'm at the hotel? Heidi and I won't go back to Norway yet," Janne said. "Yeah, sure. I have to do that. I have to make sure you're OK, and also because I'm deeply in love with you, my sweetheart," Shane replied. Once again he was smiling to her. Janne was very happy to hear that. A few minutes later, Kian turned to Heidi. "Your damage seems to grow fine. You can leave the hospital at the same time as Janne, but I'll also come to visit you at the hotel." Heidi was relieved to hear that he was going to visit her. The four of them were together in the room all day, and Shane and Kian gave their girlfriends some help to prepare the discharge. They were talking a lot during the packing. "This is great!", the girls beamed to each other. While Kian and Shane were there, they kissed and hugged their girlfriends. Everything was really romantic. Suddenly, Kian said: "By the way, Heidi, your leg has to be plastered for the next two months." Heidi sighed when he told her that, but she knew it was absolutely necessary. Therefore, she didn't protest. Like the other days, this one went very fast, and then there was another night.

CHAPTER 12

The next day was the day when Heidi and Janne finally were allowed to leave the hospital. The guys promised to get the hotel as soon as their day at work was over. Heidi and Janne were very pleased because of that. A couple of hours after the girls had left the hospital, Kian and Shane came to visit. "Hi, sweethearts! We have an announcement to make. We're taking a holiday now, to go to Norway with you," Shane said happily. Kian looked very happy as well. The girls couldn't believe it. "What are you saying?!? That's fantastic news! Let's hurry up, then!". Heidi and Janne shouted with joy. When Shane and Kian had finished their packing, it was finally time to go. The girls could hardly wait till their parents met the guys. Kian and Shane were going to spend 3 weeks in that country, and the four of them were looking very forward to that. When they arrived at the airport in Norway, they were met by Heidi's and Janne's parents. Janne was very eager, and began to explain immediately: "Mum, let me introduce you to my boyfriend, Shane. We met at the hospital in Sligo, and now we are a couple." For a few minutes, her mother just stood there. She was confused, but when Janne had told her everything, it was much easier to understand. Then, it was Heidi's turn to tell about the incredible holiday. She was just as proud as her best friend. "Mum, I've been waiting so long for this. I'm so happy!!", she said. Both the couples had a very romantic time. One day, the guys decided to prolong their stay with a couple of months. The girls were shocked, and jumped up and down because they were so happy. "Are you really serious? That's great!!", they screamed. After another couple of days, the big surprise came: the boys proposed. "Janne, will you marry me?", Shane asked excitedly. He was hoping for a 'yes', and he got it. "YES! I want to marry you!", Janne replied. Afterwards, Kian asked Heidi the same question. "Yes, I want to marry you!!", she said. One month later, the couples got married in the Norwegian capital Oslo. They had been talking about a double-wedding for a long time, and were so satisfied because it went that way. Each couple had a lovely, big house. Later, they started talking about having babies. "Of course we want babies with you," the girls beamed happily. Luckily, it went that way. Ten months later, Heidi and Kian became parents to a lovely girl. One month after that, Janne and Shane had twins - a boy and a girl. Everything ended very happily for both couples. "It's great that our special dream finally came true! Marriage and kids with each our Westlife heroes! This is amazing!", the girls beamed.

CHAPTER 1

"Goodbye, sweetheart!" Shane said to his wife when leaving the house early in the morning to go to work. He and his wife moved to her native country a year ago. Their two children, the twins Cathy and Thomas, were now 1 year olds.
Since moving to Norway, Shane had been working at the hospital nearby their home. Kian worked there as well. Kian, his wife Heidi and their daughter Mairead lived in the house next to Shane and his family.
"Goodbye, darling! When will you be back?", Janne asked her husband while smiling. She was in the kitchen, and the twins were sitting in their chairs.
"Kian and I go together, because we start working at the same time today.
We'll be back in the afternoon. Have a great day, everyone!", Shane replied as he gave his family tons of winks.
Then Kian and Shane went by Shane's car.
Ever since the children were born, Heidi and Janne had been staying at home with them. But now, the three of them were old enough to stay with other people during the day. Heidi and Janne wanted to work.
Today, Heidi and her daughter were going to visit Janne and the twins. They hadn't arrived when Janne suddenly got a phone call.
"This is Janne," she said politely.
"Hi! It's Nicky. I'm at work, but I have a break at the moment. Bryan and Mark suggested that I could call you, because they couldn't do it themselves. How are you doing?", he asked happily and friendly.
Janne was now in a very happy mood.
"Hi!!! It's great to hear from you, Nicky! We're doing fine. Shane and Kian went to work not long ago, while I'm at home with the twins. Heidi and her daughter will be visiting us today. Besides, Heidi and I are thinking of getting us jobs soon. We've been thinking about you all the time, so I think it's great you're calling," Janne replied.
"Yes, I understand. We've had a lot to do recently, and that's why it took so long before we gave you a call. But now I finally found the time to do it. We hope you come down to visit us soon, that would've been really nice!", Nicky said.
"Yeah, sure. But I guess we'll have to do it during a vacation or something, because the guys are sometimes working during the weekends as well as the week. Maybe you do that too?", Janne asked, still in a great mood.
"Yes, we do. But you may contact us whenver you want to," he said while smiling, before being interrupted by a colleague.
"Oh, Janne, I'm so sorry, but I have to go now. I need to take care of a young girl. But Mark and Bryan told me to give you loads of hugs. We promise to write you a letter as soon as possible!", Nicky said.
"That's OK. Loads of hugs from my family and the others to all of you down there. Catch you later, goodbye and thanks for calling," Janne said before quitting the conversation.

CHAPTER 2

Half an hour after this phone call, Heidi and Mairead finally arrived.
"Hi! Come on inside! Heidi, there's something I have to tell you. I got a phone call from Sligo a couple of minutes ago. Nicky rang from the hospital.
He and the other guys are at work, but he was the only one that had a break at the time, so he thought he was going to give me a call. I was told to give you loads of hugs. They're all doing just fine, but they really miss us," Janne explained.
"Hi! Wow, that was great! Yes, of course we miss them, too. But it's not easy going to Sligo when our guys are working that much... Let's hope we can figure it out eventually, because it would've been great fun to see them again. So, where are the twins?", Heidi asked as she went inside with her daughter.
They're sitting in their chairs in the kitchen. I'll go and get them. Just go to the living room," Janne said smiling.
The three children were overjoyed to keep each other in company. Heidi and Janne had a nice time too, talking about everything.
"Erm... I think it's time to get us a job soon, we've been staying at home with the children ever since the birth. What do you think?", Janne asked her best friend.
"Of course. I'm looking for work now, actually. Yesterday, I saw this advertisement in the newspaper. The guys' section needs more people. Isn't it great?", Heidi beamed happily.
Janne beamed too. "Yes, it sure is. Are you going to apply for the job, then?"
"Yeah, you bet I will. What about you?"
Janne sat thinking for a while, before replying: "I've got plans to work in a kindergarten, because that's what I want to do."
The conversation between the two of them went on, and their children seemed to have a great time together.
Meanwhile, it was a busy time at the hospital in Sligo.
"Nicky! Can you please come over here?", a woman asked. It was a colleague of his and the others.
"I'll be there. So, what's this, then?", he asked when coming over. A 19-year-old girl was standing next to Nicky's colleague. This girl tended to be really shy, especially when it was revealed that she had been a huge fan of Westlife.
"I'm not biting," Nicky reassured as he shook her hand politely.
Nicky's colleague explained the problem.
Then he looked quickly at the girl, before he started talking to her.
"OK. Look, I know you think this is very embarrassing, but I have to do something for you. Come with me, please."
The girl started blushing. Nicky smiled, before repeating that he just wanted to help her. Afterwards, the girl finally went with him.
The female nurse let Nicky and the girl alone in the room.
When Nicky's colleague left, he said: "You're not that shy now, are you? I promise to do my very best. Trust me, you're as safe as you can be."
The girl looked down on the floor, before looking at him. Then she said: "No, I'm not shy anymore. I know you just want to help me. By the way, my name is Catherine," she replied.
Nicky kept smiling. "I know. The female nurse told me."
Then, Catherine suddenly got embarrassed again.
"What's up now?" Nicky looked at her. "Well, I have to examine you. Like I said before, I know you find this quite embarrassing, but I have no choice," he explained.
Catherine blushed again. "I know."
She laid down on the bench, and let Nicky do his job. At the same time, she kept thinking how unaccustomed this was to her.
Half an hour later, he had finished the examination.
"You've got an infection, which means we have to keep you here for a few days. The female nurse will take you to your room," he said.
Catherine looked at him again. "OK," she said.
At the same time, Bryan and Mark were kept busy taking care of other people. No doubt they had a lot to do as well.

CHAPTER 3

In Norway, Heidi and Janne still had a cosy time with their children.
"Let's try to figure out when we can go to visit the other guys in Sligo. I am so excited about how they're doing down there," Heidi said.
"Me too. But I guess they have just as much to do as Shane and Kian," Janne replied.
Cathy, Thomas and Mairead seemed to have a great time. They were all able to say a few words.
"C...cute," Mairead grinned while looking at Thomas.
Heidi and Janne started laughing too. "I think she's trying to say that Thomas is cute," Heidi said.
While the five of them had great fun at home, Kian and Shane had a lot to do at the hospital.
"Kian, I need your help," Shane said.
"Of course. What's going on?", Kian asked.
Shane pointed at two girls who suffered from damages caused by a big fall.
"Oi, let's help them," Kian replied as he and Shane went to the girls.
The two girls were taken care of immediately, and despite the fact that both of them suffered, they were happy when realising that it was Shane and Kian who helped them.
After about 1 hour of careful examinations, Shane finally concluded: "Girls, you have to stay here for a couple of days."
The rest of the day wasn't that hectic for the two mates. But still, they had enough to do. Heidi and her daughter Mairead were still with Janne and the twins when Shane and Kian got home.
"Come with me inside," Shane offered. Kian accepted the invitation, and went inside his best mate's house. The twins beamed happily when seeing their dad.
"Dada", Cathy managed to say. Thomas was overjoyed as well. Mairead was happy to see her dad Kian.
"Did you have a nice day?", Shane asked his wife.
"Yes, we have. Oh, I was told to give you loads of hugs from Nicky. He gave me a call from the hospital in Sligo just before Heidi and Mairead arrived. He and the other guys are doing just fine, but they have enough to do. During our conversation, he was interrupted by a nurse because he had to take care of a young girl. But he promised that they were going to write us a letter soon. They all miss us," Janne said.
"That was great. We'll see if we can go to visit them in a weekend, but I don't know that for sure yet," Shane replied happily as he and Kian sat down in the sofa next to their families.
"Honey, I am so happy to have you back home. Did you have a nice day at work?", Janne asked.
Shane smiled, before giving his wife a warm, lovely kiss on her mouth.
"Yes. It was a bit hectic, but everything went just fine," he replied.
Heidi, Mairead and Kian stayed with their friends a little longer. But they had to go back home late in the afternoon.
"Mairead, are you coming?". Heidi stood watching her daughter sitting on the floor.
Suddenly, Heidi got a worried _expression in her face.
"What's the matter with her?", she asked.
Shane and Kian looked at Heidi. "Maybe she's tired?"
Heidi was a bit calmed down, because it seemed like her husband and his mate was right. When she had picked up Mairead from the floor, she left the house together with Kian.
"Goodbye! See you tomorrow!", Kian said before leaving.

CHAPTER 4

Back in their own home, Heidi placed Mairead on the sofa. She was going to get something, but stopped walking all of a sudden.
"Kian....look at her... She's very pale!" Heidi got nervous.
Kian reacted immediately when he noticed that his daughter was pale and had rash all over her face.
"She's ill. Hang on, there's something I need to fix. Stay here with Mairead," he replied before running to the entrance.
As the little family in Norway had an uncomfortable time, Bryan and Mark had a lot to do in Sligo. Nicky had left the hospital for a little while, and the other guys were kept busy.
"I better go and see how the children are doing," Bryan said.
"OK," Mark replied. Then Bryan went to the children. They seemed to appreciate his arrival.
"Hello, kids! Are you OK?", he asked while looking at them. He reassured himself that the kids were fine. They nodded, and then Bryan felt it was safe to leave them for a while.
A little later, Nicky came back to the hospital. Mark had already gone to Catherine's room to keep her in company.
"Hi! Do you have much work to do?", he asked.
"Yes, I have. By the way, Mark went to talk to Catherine," Bryan explained.
"That's good. I'll go and see her later tonight before going home. She's my resposibility in the first place, but I think it's good that you stay with her too," Nicky replied, before he had to work.
The situation in the home of Heidi's family was not good at all. Mairead was ill, and someone had to do something for her as soon as possible. Kian came back to the living room after a few minutes. He had collected some stuff, and given Shane a call.
"Shane will be here any minute now. I think it's best to let him take care of our daughter. We stay here all the time," Kian explained.
Heidi nodded in agreement. "Yes, that's fine with me. I really hope she'll be OK soon."
Shane arrived at their house five minutes later.
"I came as quickly as possible. What happened?", he asked.
"When we left you, I placed Mairead on the sofa. I thought she was tired after playing with your children for several hours. But then she became pale, and then we had to do something," Heidi said nervously.
"I see. You did the right thing. Kian and I will do our best to help her, but he told me it's best to let me take care of her, because she's his daughter too. I promise to do my best. Let me do my job, and I promise you that she will be fine," Shane reassured.
Heidi nodded, still very nervous.
"Honey, listen. I'll give Janne a call to ask her and the twins if they can come over to our house. Do you want me to do that?", Kian asked.
"Yes, I'd really love you to do that."
He went to call Janne, and Shane was busy examining Mairead. A little later, he said: "We have to take her to the hospital immediately."

CHAPTER 5

Heidi was shocked to hear what Shane said, and she was very upset. Kian went to comfort her the best he could.
"Everything will be just fine. I know Shane can help her," Kian said as he embraced his nervous wife.
Janne turned up at the house about five minutes later.
"The twins are staying with the neighbour. They stay there as long as necessary. What's going on?", she asked.
"When we arrived back home after spending the day with you, Mairead suddenly fell ill," Heidi explained. She didn't manage to say much more.
"We have to take Mairead to the hospital now. Go with us," Shane told Janne.
Then they all went with the ill child.
"Everything will be fine, Heidi. Trust me," Shane said while stroking her on the shoulder.
The situation was temporarily unsure, but they had to find out why Mairead suddenly fell ill.
"I love you, Heidi. I'll stay with you all the time. Mairead is in good care," Kian said as they drove.
They arrived at the hospital not long after. Shane went quickly inside with Mairead in his arms. Heidi got even more nervous.
"What are you going to do?", she asked. Janne looked at her, and told her to sit down.
"She's going to be just fine," she reassured her best friend. Heidi had been told that a few times since her daughter fell ill.
"I have to check her condition. But I know for sure that Mairead is not coming home today," Shane replied.
Heidi didn't say anything at all. Instead, she placed the hands before her mouth, and then she and Janne went to the corridor to wait. Kian stayed with Shane and the little girl.
Nicky, Bryan and Mark had a much easier time in Sligo. As Nicky came walking into Catherine's room, he found Mark still sitting there with her.
"Hi! How are you doing, Catherine?", Nicky asked.
"Well, I don't feel any good, actually," she replied while looking at the two guys, who used to be two of five Westlifers.
"I see. We better do something about that, then. By the way, do you know why I am here now?", Nicky asked.
To start with, Catherine was a bit confused. "No?", she said.
"There are two reasons. Firstly, I want to keep you in company for a little while to cheer you up. The second reason is this thing. Can you see it?" Catherine looked quickly at Mark, then at Nicky.
"Yes, I do," she said a little unsure.
Nicky held the thing in his hand. It was an inject. Catherine suddenly got a scared look in her face.
"What's wrong?" Mark asked. He had noticed her scared _expression, but Nicky hadn't seen it yet. He was too busy preparing the next thing to do.
"I hate stuff like that," Catherine whispered in Mark's ear.
Mark tried to calm her down immediately. "There's nothing to worry about. I might stay here with you while Nicky give you the injection. Do you want me to stay?", he asked friendly.
Catherine was quiet for a few seconds. "Yes, I really want you to stay. Please hold my hand," she replied afterwards.
Mark did exactly what he was told, and then Nicky was allowed to do his job.
It wasn't supposed to take long, but Mark already started humming one of the Westlifesongs. Catherine's mood got better because of what he did.
Bryan was incidentally nearby. He had finished a conversation with the parents of a little child.
"Hello, Catherine! I was nearby, and heard Mark humming. How do you feel?"
Catherine suddenly managed to smile.
"To be honest with you, I don't feel that well. But I think it's great to have you here with me. Ouch!", she said afterwards. She hated getting the injection.
"There you go. I am finished. I promise not to do that anymore today," Nicky concluded. He was smiling.
Catherine knew very well that she had to stay at the hospital for a while, but she was very happy that she didn't need more injections that day.

CHAPTER 6

It was hectic times at the hospital in Norway. Two hours had passed since Shane brought the ill girl to the emergency section.
"Oh my God, it must happen something soon!!!!", Heidi said, still nervous.
Janne did everything she could to comfort her best friend. They had been best friends for so many years.
"I am sure Mairead will be well soon. I know that Shane does everything he can," Janne replied.
Heidi nodded. "Yes, I know that too. But it's not funny not to know anything."
The two of them still sat talking when Shane finally turned up. Heidi left the chair immediately.
"What's going on?", she wanted to know.
"Heidi, sit down, please. Your daughter is not in danger. But like I said: She's not coming home today. Actually, she's not coming home for a while yet. She has a strong sort of chicken pox, and she can catch other people. So we need to isolate her. Has any of you had it before?", Shane asked as he was looking at his wife Janne and Mairead's parents.
"Yes. We had chicken pox as kids," Heidi and Janne replied. They were both still upset because of the situation.
"Me too," Kian added.
"Good. There's no chance of getting it once again, then. But all of you need to protect yourselves. I need to protect myself as well," Shane explained.
Heidi was relieved that Janne's husband managed to find out what was wrong with the little girl. But now, she was totally exhausted.
"Heidi, would you like to take a walk, or do something else nearby the hospital? There's no need to sit here, the time doesn't pass faster then," Janne said.
Heidi sat thinking for a few seconds. "Yes, I'd like to take a walk. I want to hear how the guys in Sligo are doing, so we can give them a call."
Janne got a huge smile on her mouth. "Good. Then you come with me while the others are taking care of your daughter."
Shane and Kian sat with the little girl, and Heidi and Janne left the hospital.
In Sligo, Nicky was still staying with Catherine. Bryan and Mark had left long time ago because they had to look after other people.
"There's a few things to be done before I go," Nicky told her.
"Like what?", she asked while smiling. She was used to the guys' new job now, but she was absent now and then.
Nicky looked at her for a little while. She sat in her bed, and he was standing next to her.
Before Nicky even managed to give her an answer, she'd already figured out what he wanted to say. She understood what he wanted her to do.
"Oh, I get it. You want me to take my clothes off, don't you?"
Nicky kept smiling. "Yes, exactly."
Catherine started blushing. She was still blushing when he examined her.
Mark and Bryan were in the corridor by chance, when a colleague asked Bryan to come over to her.
"It's a phone call from your friends in Norway," she said.
Bryan grabbed the phone immediately.
"Hi, you're speaking to Bryan. Oh, hi Heidi! How are you?"
"Hi! Actually, things could've been better than they are at the moment," she replied.
Bryan wondered what she meant by saying that. "What are you talking about? Has anything happened?"
"Yes. My daughter has got the strongest sort of chicken pox. I brought Mairead to visit Janne and her twins earlier today, whilst the guys were working. When they got back home, it was quite late in the afternoon. Therefore, Mairead, Kian and I had to go home to our place. But Mairead suddenly became pale, and had rash all over her face," Heidi explained.
"Oh my God! What happened afterwards, then?" Bryan was shocked.
"We decided to let Shane take care of her, and he told us that we had to take her to the hospital as soon as possible. When we arrived, me and Janne had to wait in the corridor for a few hours, before Shane came back to tell us why my daughter fell ill. She's isolated because she's able to catch other people. She's not coming home for a few days," Heidi continued.
"Oh my God. I really hope she'll be well soon. I'll inform the other guys about it. Mark is standing nearby, and Nicky is talking to a teenager girl in her room right now. But I promise to let them now. Please give Janne and the other guys hugs from all of us. Hugs to you too, of course. We hope that Mairead will get better soon!", Bryan said.
"I'll tell them. I have to go back to the hospital now. Goodbye," Heidi said before she hung up.
Then she and Janne went back to the others. They met Kian in the corridor.
"Relax, honey. Her condition is stable. She'll be fine, I promise," Kian told Heidi as he put his arms around her neck.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. We have been told to give loads of hugs from the guys in Sligo. I just had a conversation with Bryan," Heidi explained.
"Oh, that was nice. Now let's go back to our daughter. Shane is sitting with her."
The four of them sat with Mairead for a while.
At the same time, Nicky was still in Catherine's room at the hospital in Sligo.
"There you go. Now you need to get a nice sleep during the night, and I'll be back tomorrow morning to see how you're doing. Sleep well," he said to her.
Catherine was blushing and smiling. Then she decided to reveal her secret: "Nicky, wait. I love you."

CHAPTER 7

Nicky turned immediately. He was a bit confused. "Excuse me, what did you just say?", he asked while going back to the teenage girl.
"I love you," she repeated.
"But, Catherine.... Are you really being serious about this?"
She looked at him. "Yes, I am."
Nicky didn't know what to say. It wasn't expected at all.
"I really appreciate that you seem to like me, Catherine. But you do understand that I need to think carefully through this? There's so many reasons why. I really hope you understand that.
She kept smiling. "Oh yes, I do. Don't worry. I didn't expect you to react any different than you did now. But I didn't want to keep it a secret, because I think it's best to be honest about things like that. That's why I told you the truth," she explained.
Nicky looked at her again. "Good. Thanks anyway. But now I think it's time for you to get some sleep. It'll be a hard and long day tomorrow. You remember that, don't you?"
"Yes, I do", she said while thinking about the operation she was going through the next day.
"See you tomorrow morning, then. Goodbye," Nicky said before leaving her room.
He met Bryan and Mark in the corridor.
"Catherine is now asleep. I'm going home now, but will be back tomorrow morning. What about you?", he asked.
"I'm finished in about 1 hour, and then I'm going home as well," Bryan replied.
"Me too," Mark said.
Nicky and his mates stood talking for a few minutes, before he headed back home. Then Bryan went to see how the children were doing.
When Nicky got home, he couldn't stop thinking about his friends in Norway.
He was very worried about Mairead, but decided not to call them that late in the evening.
The situation for the two families in Norway was still the same. Heidi and Janne were still at the hospital with Kian. Shane was there too, of course, because he was responsible for taking care of the ill girl.
"Heidi, you've spent so many hours here now, and it's getting quite late. Are you sure you don't want to go home and get some sleep? I'll go with you," Janne offered.
Her best friend hesitated. "No. I want to stay with my daughter."
"But there's nothing you can do for her now. The guys will look after her."
Heidi looked at Kian, Shane and Janne for a long time. She was very unsure about doing what she was told. She eventually made a decision.
"Ok. I'll go home. But promise to let me know if something happens! And give us a call when you're going home!", she told the two guys.
"Yes, of course we will. Don't worry. Now go with Janne. Goodbye, sweetheart," Kian said as he kissed his dear wife.
Then she and Janne left the hospital. They decided to stay at Heidi's house.
When the two friends finally arrived the house, Heidi feel asleep immediately. She was totally exhausted. Janne gave the neighbour a call to tell her that the twins had to stay there longer.
While Janne sat reading a book, the phone suddenly rang.
"This is Heidi's and Kian's phone. You're speaking to Janne," she said politely.
"Hei! It's Kian here. I just wanted to hear how you're doing. Me and Shane are still staying with my daughter," he said. His voice was still a bit shaky.
"Hi there! We're doing just fine. Heidi is asleep. How's Mairead?"
"She's stable for now. We just have to see how it goes. Shane and I will be sitting with her for another hour, and then we go home. Give Heidi a hug from me if she wakes up before we get back. Shane told me to say hi. I have to go back now. Goodbye," Kian said.
Then he hung up, and went back to Shane and his little girl.
"Did you speak to anyone?", Shane asked when his mate turned up.
"Yes. I spoke to Janne, and she told me to greet you. Heidi is asleep, because she's very exhausted," Kian replied before he sat down.
"I can understand that. But everything will be OK, we both know that," Shane replied from where he was sitting.
Half an hour later, they noticed that something suddenly happened. Mairead seemed to be restless. Shane touched her.
"I thought so. She's very hot. Someone has to look after her during the night," he said.
The time passed away, and Shane and Kian had to go back home to their loved ones. A new colleague was asked to take care of the girl. Then Shane and Kian went home.
Heidi and Janne were not the only ones who worried. Catherine was lying at the hospital in Sligo, and dreaded for the next morning.
"Nicky.... Please come back as soon as possible!", she said weakly to herself. She was so in love with him, and couldn't stand the thought of him not being there with her. A little later, she finally fell asleep.
Nicky was now at home. He rested after a tough day at work, and had a nice time all evening.
Mark and his fiancèe Yvonne did also spend the night at home. She had met his friends many times, and because of that, she knew them all very well.
She wanted to be informed about the situation in Norway.
"When you speak to them again, please tell them I think of them all the time," Yvonne asked her boyfriend, before giving him a lovely kiss.
Bryan had someone waiting for him at home as well. He and his girlfriend Louise had been together for 6 months, and they were planning to get married.
When Kian and Shane arrived back home, they immediately went to Kian's house where Kian and Heidi lived with their daughter.
"A new colleague of ours is taking care of Mairead all night. I'll look after her tomorrow," Shane told his wife before kissing her. Heidi were still asleep, but you could tell that she was very exhausted.
"I hope she gets enough sleep," Kian told while looking nicely at his wife.
Not long after, Janne and Shane went back to their own house. They were ready to get some well-earned sleep after what had happened. The twins were going to stay with the neighbour till the day after.

CHAPTER 8

The next morning, Shane went to Kian's house. They were going to the hospital together. Janne and Heidi planned to arrive a bit later in the day.
When they arrived at work, they walked straight to Mairead's room. Their new colleague was still sitting with the little girl.
"Did she have a good night?", Shane asked.
"No, and she's still very ill. I sat here all night," the colleague replied.
"Thank you so much for looking after her. Kian, I think we need to keep your daughter at the hospital for a while," Shane concluded. Kian nodded in agreement.
Then their colleague left the room to do other stuff.
Heidi and Janne arrived at the hospital about two hours later. Of course, Heidi was still stamped by the situation.
"I'm sure your daughter will get well soon. Please remember that me and Shane will be there for you and Kian whenever you need us," Janne said comforting her best friend. They walked straight to the little girl's room.
When they were almost at the door to the room, they got another shock. A male person was standing a few metres ahead of them, and the girls both seemed to know him. But they didn't say anything, because they were still unsure about him. Therefore, they just went straight to Mairead's room.
"Hello, sweetheart," Janne said when she saw her husband. He kept smiling to her, but had to sit with the ill girl.
"Hi, Janne and Heidi! It was great that you could be here," he replied.
"A new colleague of ours has been taking care of Mairead through the night.
Would you like to meet him?", Shane asked.
Heidi and Janne looked at each other in excitement.
"Yes, of course we want to meet him," they said.
Shane left the room and closed the door behind him. The door had to be closed because of Mairead.
A few minutes later, he returned with the new colleague. Heidi and Janne got yet another shock.
"KENNETH?! Is that really you?!"
He was shocked himself. "Janne? Heidi? What are you doing here? Do you know those guys, and what about that little girl?"
Shane and Kian looked at each other, then at their wives.
"Do you know each other?!"
"Yes, we do. We attended the same upper secondary school. Heidi and Kenneth were in the same class for a year, actually," Janne said.
Kenneth sat down. "And how do you know the guys, then?", he wanted to know.
"I am actually married to Shane. We've got to kids together - twins. We met in Sligo a year ago," Janne replied.
"I am married to Kian. The girl in that bed is actually our daughter," Heidi said as she looked at her former schoolmate.
"Wow. I don't know what to say. But how about you? I presume that you were surprised to find me here?", Kenneth asked while smiling.
"You bet we were, We thought you were doing something different, but this....," Heidi said.
The chat between them went on, and they were also looking after Mairead.
In Sligo, Catherine was awake when someone suddenly opened the door to her room.
"It's me - Nicky. May I come in?", he asked.
Catherine beamed. "Yeah, sure. Is it just you?"
"I am alone right now, but Bryan will be here soon. You know what will happen today, don't you?"
She glanced nervously at Nicky when Bryan suddenly turned up.
"Yes, I do," she said weakly.
Mark was still at home at this time. He wasn't due to start working until later that day. Therefore, he wanted to give his friends in Norway a call.
"Come on, answer the phone!" He couldn't stop thinking about the little girl, who was still ill. After all, that was why he decided to call.
After trying three times, he gave up. "They might be inside," he thought to himself.
Shane and the other still sat talking together when Mairead suddenly reacted strongly.
"Oh, my God! What's going on?" Heidi suddenly got nervous again.
"Take it easy, she will be fine," Janne and Kenneth said, trying to calm down their friend.
Shane left his chair, and tried to figure out why the little girl reacted so strongly.
Kenneth looked at Heidi. "Look, I know this is hard for you, but there's nothing you can do about this. Shane takes care of her."
Heidi calmed down, and Janne brought her to the corridor to talk.
Meanwhile, Shane, Kian and Kenneth stayed with Mairead.
"Your daughter will be fine, Kian. But I have to check her condition and give her an injection. Can you please tell Heidi, so she knows what we're doing?", Shane asked.
"OK. I'll let her know straight away," Kian replied before leaving the room.
Heidi beamed when she saw her husband coming towards her, but she was still worried about her daughter.
"How is our little girl doing?", she wanted to know.
"Shane is examining her at the moment. But then we need to give her an injection. It's your decision whether you want to stay with her, or if you and Janne want to do something else. But there's nothing you can do for our little girl right now, honey," Kian explained before giving his wife a lovely kiss.
Janne decided to take her best friend outside for a walk. They both needed it.
While the situation for the little girl in Norway was still difficult, Catherine dreaded for the operation.
"It will be fine, you can make it," Nicky and Bryan told the frightened girl.
"I wanna grow old with you, I wanna die lying in your arms," Catherine sang while she was still in her room.
"You know what, honey? We have to make you fall asleep," Nicky said while looking at Catherine.
"Hm? I love you," she replied.
Bryan looked at both Catherine and his mate in disbelief. "What? Did you know that from before, Nicky?"
"Oh yes, I did. But I told her to think carefully through the whole thing. OK, Catherine, it's time to get some sleep again. I know what you think about injections, but I really have to do it," Nicky said as he looked at her.

CHAPTER 9

"Do you really have to do it? OK, then. But then I want Bryan to stay with us as well," the girl begged. Bryan decided to make her wish come true, because she needed to be completely calmed down.
When that was done, she was prepared for the thing that she had been dreading for.
Mark arrived at work at the same time. It was really quiet at the time, so he decided to give his friends in Norway another phonecall.
Heidi and Janne had gone for a walk outside, and their mobiles were turned on, in case someone sent them text messages or gave them a call. And that did happen:
"Hi, this is Heidi. Who am I speaking to?"
"Hi! It's Mark. I just arrived at work. It's really quiet here at the moment, so I wanted to give you a call to hear how you're doing, especially your daughter," he said politely.
"Hi, Mark!! Well, she's a bit worse now, but Shane's got everything under control. There's something I have to tell you. Me and Janne were shocked when we arrived at the hospital this morning. You see, a former schoolmate of ours has now started working with Kian and Shane. His name is Kenneth, and he sat with my daughter all night to look after her," Heidi replied.
"Wow, it was great to hear about your former schoolmate. But we want you to know that we're all very worried about Mairead. We keep thinking about you all the time, and we really hope she'll get well soon. Bryan and Nicky are really busy right now, and I'll go to find out how the children are doing. Please say hi to the others from me. Remember that we're hoping for the best about Mairead. I have to go now. Goodbye, and take care," he said.
"Thank you for calling. Give the guys lots of hugs from us. Goodbye," Heidi replied. Then the conversation was over.
Mark immediately went to see how the children were doing. When he was on his way to them, he met his two mates and Catherine. She was about to fell asleep.
"I was told to give you lots of hugs and greetings from Heidi and the other guys. I just had a talk to her on the phone. Her daughter is not any better, but the situation is under control. And how are things going here, then?" Mark asked while looking at the sleepy girl.
"Tired...", she sighed.
"Good luck," Mark told Catherine. Then Bryan and Nicky brought her to the operationsection, and Mark went to see the children. They beamed when he arrived.
The situation in Norway was still not good. Heidi and Janne had just come back to Mairead's room, when something unexpected suddenly happened. Heidi fainted.
Kenneth, who was in the room at the time, ran to her immediately to help.
"Heidi?", he said. She didn't give response.
"Probably a sign of exhaustion. We have to do something for her quickly," Shane concluded. He saw everything from where he was sitting.
"I can take care of her. What do you say, Kian? Is that OK, or would you like to do it yourself?", Kenneth asked. He looked at both his colleagues, then at Janne.
"I would've done it myself, especially because I'm married to her. But I think it's better that you or Shane does it. And because he's already taking care of my daughter, you're the only one to do something. So yes, Kenneth, it's OK with me."
Janne was now blushing. "Kenneth in this job?! That was the last thing I thought he would be doing!", she thought to herself. She sat there thinking about it for a little while, before reality suddenly hit her.
"Janne, would you like to come with me? I think Heidi needs you. The others have to stay here with her daughter," Kenneth said.
"I'm coming with you," Janne replied.
She followed Kenneth, who had now placed Heidi in a bed. She was still not awake.
Janne had two persons to worry about: Heidi and Mairead.
Kenneth closed the door behind him, to avoid noise from outside the room.
"I really have to do something for her. You might have to go home by yourself today, Janne," he said as he looked at her.
She sat there while her mate checked her best friend carefully.
Everything went well in Sligo. Catherine was deeply asleep, which meant that Nicky and Bryan were able to do their job. The operation was finished about two hours later.
Catherine was moved to a place where someone could look after her all the time Nicky got a nurse to sit with her, but he promised that he was coming in to see her now and then.
Nicky was sitting with the teenagegirl when she finally woke up.
"Nicky? Is that you? Everything is so foggy. Where am I? I can't remember what I have been doing for the last couple of hours...", Catherine mumbled before closing her eyes again.
"It's OK, honey. You did very well, the operation was done in two hours," Nicky said to her as he stroke her cheek to show that he cared about her.
"Oh, I see. Thank you," Catherine said happily as she opened her eyes. She was really happy to have Nicky beside her.

CHAPTER 10

"You have to rest now, and will stay at the hospital for a couple of days," Nicky continued.
Catherine looked quickly at him. "OK. That's fine with me. You are so nice to me, as are the other guys. What's going to happen for the rest of this day, then?", she asked. Her voice was very weak.
"Thanks for liking us. Yes, it will happen more things today, but not now.
I'll be back in a few hours, and then I'm going to do something," he said while smiling to her.
"But now I have to go. Make sure you get to rest well."
Catherine nodded. "Yes, I will. See you." Nicky closed the door, and the girl fall asleep again.
Nicky met up with Bryan outside the room. "She's asleep now, but she wanted me to tell you and Mark what she thinks of us," Nicky smiled.
"That's nice to hear," Bryan replied. Then he and his mate went to work more.
In Norway, Janne commuted between the two rooms at the hospital. She wanted to stay with her best friend, but also with the little girl.
"I'm done. Now we have to let her rest. She'll be fine, but you have to go home by yourself today, Janne," Kenneth said as he looked at his friend.
Janne nodded. "Yes, I am totally aware of that. What will you do to Heidi meanwhile, then?"
"Like I said, we have to let her sleep. Then we have to see what to do in the continuation. She doesn't know that I'm here with her. When she wakes up eventually, she'll ask what happened to her," Kenneth explained.
A little later, both he and Janne went back to the other guys.
"She's asleep in the room next door. How are things going here then," Kenneth asked.
"Mairead needs supervision all the time. But we think she'll be fine," Shane replied. He and the others sat thinking for about half an hour. Then they suddenly heard sounds from the other room.
"It looks like Heidi is awake now. Kian, would you like to come with me?", Kenneth asked.
"Yes, I will," Kian said. He was excited about his wife's reactions to the happenings. Shane told a nurse to look after the little girl, and went with the rest of the guys to visit Heidi.
When they arrived in her room, she was very confused. She had just woke up, and didn't know anything at all.
"Where.... Where am I?", she asked.
"You fainted when your daughter got worse. You need to spend much time here now. We want you to stay at the hospital for one or two days," Shane said. He knew that very well, because Kenneth had told him earlier.
"Oh, I see. So, who's taking care of me, then?", she asked weakly.
"I do. If you want me to or not," Kenneth smiled.
"Oh my God!" Heidi thought to herself while blushing.
Janne had to leave the hospital half an hour later, to pick up her kids. They couldn't stay at the hospital with her, so she had to spend some time with them at home.
As the hours passed away, Shane decided to do something more with Mairead, because her situation was still very difficult.
"Kian, tell Kenneth that I'll come over to him afterwards to help him. I just have to finish with Mairead first. Your daughter is stable at the moment," Shane explained.
Kian nodded. "Yes, I'll tell him. I think your kids are happy to have their mother at home now," he said.
Shane smiled. "Yes, I think they are, too. But Janne said she's coming back later today to see how it goes."
Half an hour later, Kenneth was assisted by Shane. Kian went to be with his daughter in the room next door.

CHAPTER 11

"Heidi, Kian is with your daughter now. Shane's here to help me," Kenneth explained.
"What are you going to do with me, then?", she asked carefully.
"We have to make sure that you are OK. We'll stay with you for a while," Shane replied.
"OK," Heidi said. She was very tired, but trusted her former schoolmate Kenneth and Janne's husband Shane. She let them do their job. Kian came in to the room every now and then.
Nicky and the other guys in Sligo had a lot to do as well. It was very quiet for a few minutes, but suddenly something happened.
"PLEASE HELP ME!!!", a girl screamed desperately. She was alone in her room. Nicky and Bryan ran to her immediately.
"Oh my God, Donna, what happened?", Bryan asked.
"I was just going to get something from my bag. When I tried to walk, I suddenly fell down on the floor," the girl explained.
"You should be careful when walking, because your leg needs to rest. Did you get hurt?", Nicky asked.
"Yes, I am hurt. Look at this," she said sadly. She really scared.
"We have to do something about this," Nicky told Bryan. They lifted the girl back in her bed, and promised that everything would be fine eventually.
In Norway, Kenneth and Shane were still with Heidi.
"Are you ready?", she heard Shane say all of a sudden. She was so foggy that she didn't notice that much.
"Huh? What?", she said in a low voice while looking at the two guys.
"I am going to check your condition. But before I do that, I'd like to ask you something. I know you still hate getting injections, but do you mind me doing it? I really have to," Shane explained.
Heidi sighed. "OK, then." She reached out her arm, and turned away. Kenneth was standing next to her, but Heidi thought it was so embarrassing to look at him. She'd rather look at the white walls.
"There you go. You did well, didn't you?", Shane said after the injection had been given. Then he started examining her carefully.
Janne turned up at the hospital two hours later. She had had a great time with the twins at home, but the neighbour was told that Janne wanted to go back to the hospital because Heidi and her little daughter were having quite a difficult time. The neighbour offered to look after the twins for as long as necessary.
"Hello, sweetheart!" Shane beamed when he saw his wife entering Heidi's room.
"Hello, my love! The twins were so happy to spend some time with me, but they did say 'papa' a lot. They'll stay with the neighbour as long as they have to. How are things going here, then?", Janne asked.
"The twins were sweet who said that. Well, Heidi will be fine. She has to stay here till tomorrow. Her daughter is still ill, but everything is under control," Shane explained.
Heidi was very happy to see her best friend again. She asked Janne to stay with her for a while, because she needed her as well. Shane and Kenneth had to check how Mairead was doing, so they left Heidi's room a little later.
"Kian! Heidi and Janne are talking together in the room next door. She's fine, but I think she wants you to be there," Shane said as he smiled. He didn't have to tell his mate that Heidi had to stay there till the day after, because he already knew that.
"I'll go to her straight away," Kian said. Then he left his daughter's room. Kenneth had gone too, because he had to take care of other people.
The hope about Mairead getting well, was now stronger than ever. Things went really well in Sligo too, despite the fact that there were some hectic periods. Bryan and Nicky had spent much time with the hurt Donna, and they'd also plastered her.
"I'll come back later, OK?", Bryan asked while looking at her.
"OK. Thank you for helping me," she said friendly. Then she tried to take it easy. Nicky and Bryan left her room, and then went each to their own.
"I have to go and see how Catherine is doing," Nicky explained. When he was on his way to her, he met Mark. He was very busy, even though it was not that hectic for him as the other guys. He had heard Donna's desperate scream, and wanted to ask Nicky how she was doing at the time.
"She's fine now. She's getting some rest," Nicky replied.
A little later, Mark had enough to do, and Nicky was able to go to Catherine's room.
He knocked on the door, because he didn't know whether she was asleep or not. He didn't want to walk straight into her room without knocking.
"Who's there"?, she asked.
"It's Nicky. May I come in?"
Catherine's face lit up. "Of course you can!" Nicky went inside, and found her sitting in her bed reading a book.
"Are you doing fine?", he wanted to know.
"Well, I think so," the teenagegirl replied shyly. "You're not here just to talk, are you?", she added while looking quickly at her biggest love of her life.
"That's right. I didn't come her just to talk. I'm going to do a few things as well. Are you ready for that?", he asked as he came closer to her.
Catherine nodded. "Yes, I am ready."
Nicky was now able to do his job. Catherine was calm and quiet all the time, but sometimes she got so embarrassed, that she didn't dare to look at him.
"Now, there's only one thing left, before I'm done. OK?", he asked smiling as he looked at her.
"Yeah, that's fine with me," Catherine said. She was still embarrassed, and therefore didn't ask him what he was going to do now. She kept reading her book.
Nicky smiled. "Catherine, what's the matter?"
"How come?", she asked.
"You're reading the book. I just said I have to do one more thing before I live you, but then you have to move your book a bit," he laughed.
"Oi, of course I will. What do you want me to do?" Catherine was excited. She wanted to ask him if he had been thinking about what she told him earlier, but chose not to ask him about it just then.
Nicky was still smiling. "Take off your clothes."

CHAPTER 12

As Nicky examined Catherine, Bryan and Mark still had a lot to do with other children and teenagers.
"Mark, can you please go and find out how Donna is doing? I'm worried about her because of her accident," Bryan explained. Mark went to Donna straight away.
In Norway, the situation was a bit different now. Shane had just left Heidi's room when Kenneth met him in the corridor.
"Mairead gets better and better as time passes away. She isn't that hot anymore," Kenneth said. Shane immediately went to Mairead's room. Kenneth followed him.
"You are right. She looks much better now, but I think we should keep her in here for a while," Shane said after checking Mairead's situation carefully.
In Heidi's room, the chat between her and Janne went on for ages. Kian was there, too.
"Thanks for being here with me. How are the twins?", Heidi asked her best friend.
"You're welcome, Heidi. The twins are doing just fine. They're still staying with the neighbour, but I will go and get them when I leave the hospital later today," Janne said.
Heidi suddenly looked at her husband. "Kian, how is our daughter doing? I am still worried about her."
"I do understand that, because I am worried as well. But you have to remember that you just fainted, and you need to take it easy. Listen, I'll go to her room right now and have a word with the other guys. OK?", he said. Heidi nodded, and Kian left the room.
When Kian entered his daughter's room, he found the other guys making the situation a bit more comfortable for her.
"Heidi asked me how Mairead is doing," he said.
"She's a bit better now, but we still have to keep her in here," Shane said.
Kian seemed relieved. He, his wife and their friends thought all the time that Mairead was going to get well as soon as possible, but he was relieved that it finally seemed to work out.
"Good. I'll go and give Heidi the news afterwards. I'd like to spend some time with our daughter first," he said.
Not long after, Shane left to do a mission. He had to give the guys in Sligo a call to find out how they were doing, and he was also told to tell about the situation in Norway.
A nurse at the guy's section in Sligo answered the phone. "This is Sligo General Hospital. You're speaking to Lynn. May I help you?", a friendly female voice asked.
"Oh, hi Lynn! It's a been a long time, hasn't it? It must be at least a year since we last met each other. This is Shane. I'd like to speak to Nicky, or one of the other guys," he said politely.
"Hello! Nicky is busy at the moment, but I'll go and get Bryan for you. Hang on," she replied. Shane waited patiently.
"Hi, Shane! It's Bryan," he said.
"Hi! I found some time to call you. We just wanted to say that Mairead is gradually getting better, but Heidi has had an accident as well. She fainted early this morning, and now we have to keep her at the hospital till tomorrow. But apart from that, we're all doing just fine. How about you?", Shane asked.
"I'm glad to hear about Mairead's development. But it wasn't funny to hear about what had happened to Heidi, of course. Well, there's pretty much for us to do. Nicky and Mark are kept busy, and I was the only one free to answer the phone. Me, Nicky and Mark all have time off the next weekend. We really want to come and visit you then. But that might be a problem because of Heidi's and Kian's daughter?", Bryan asked.
"It would've been nice of you to visit us, I'm sure that everyone would appreciate that. But I'll tell the others about it, and give you a call when I have spoken to them. OK?"
"OK. Let's do it that way, then. Look, I have to go back now to see if anyone needs any help. Thank you so much for calling, and please give everyone hugs from all os us down here. Goodbye," Bryan said. Shane told him to give loads of hugs to the other guys too, and then they finished the conversation.
Bryan immediately went to Catherine's room, because he knew that Nicky was still there with her.
"Hi, Catherine, how are you doing?", he asked.
She was smiling. "I'm fine," she replied politely.
"Good. Nicky, I need to speak to you for a moment." Bryan told his mate to go with him.
"No problem. I was done here anyway. Catherine, remember to take it easy. Please let us now straight away if anything happens. OK? See you later," Nicky said before leaving her room.
Nicky and Bryan went to a room where they could talk without being disturbed.
"I just spoke to Shane on the phone. Mairead is getting better now, but Heidi fainted and has to stay at the hospital till tomorrow. I told him about our plans to visit them the next weekend, but he was going to discuss it with the others first, because of the situation," Bryan explained.
"Good," Nicky said. He was happy that Mairead gradually got better, but he was worried about Heidi at the same time. She and her husband had been through a tough time because of their daughter.
Nicky and Bryan met Mark a little later.
"Hi! I had to take care of a boy for a couple of hours, but hopefully he's doing well now. How about you?", he asked. Nicky and Bryan told him about the phone call, and added that they would soon be able to know if they could go to Norway as planned.
As the guys in Sligo stood chatting to each other, Kenneth, Kian and Shane sat with the ill girl in Noway. Heidi was still very exhausted, and fell asleep pretty quickly.
"Thank you for taking care of my daughter. Heidi and I are really happy about that," Kian said gratefully to his two mates and colleagues.
"That was the least we could do. We had to do something for her," Shane replied while smiling. He was looking after the little girl all the time, and she was still stable one hour later.
The hours passed away, and Janne turned up in Mairead's room after a while.
"My dear Shane, I think it's time for me to go home to pick up the twins now. They really need me to be there. When will you be home?", she wanted to know.
"Yeah, that's OK. You can go home now. My day here is finished in about one hour. Kian, you look quite exhausted. Would you like to stay here with your family, or go with Janne?", Shane asked.
Kian sat thinking about it for a few minutes, before he decided that he wanted to stay. Then Janne left the hospital.
The guys' day at work was finished a few hours later. But before they went back home, they had to find out how Heidi was doing. Kenneth carefully opened the door to her room. He found her sleeping in the bed.
"She's just fine. Let's get the nurse to look after her and her daughter," he said. When that was done, the three mates were finally ready to go home.
In Sligo, Nicky had already left the hospital. He quit early this day, but Bryan and Mark were still there.
"Let's go and check the children and teenagers before we leave," they told each other.

CHAPTER 13

Donna was the first one to receive a visit from the two guys. She had big trouble sleeping. Therefore, she lied in her bed reading a book, despite the fact that she was a bit tired.
"We thought you were asleep?" Bryan seemed to be surprised.
"I can't," she replied weakly. She was pale, and couldn't do much but reading the book.
Bryan looked at her. "Is that because of your fall, or is it something else?", he asked friendly.
"Both because of the fall and what I came here for. It's really aching," she explained.
"You're a bit pale, do you know that?", Mark asked while looking at her. Donna nodded to confirm that he was right.
"Yes. I had a look in the mirror a few minutes ago, and got worried. What's going on?", she said. Her voice was nervous. Mark and Bryan did everything they could to calm her. Donna had hurt her foot in a cruel accident, and her fall at the hospital made her situation and the pain even worse.
"Let's find out what's going on," Bryan said while preparing to help the girl. A little later, she felt a bit better, and the two guys could continue visit other people in the section. Catherine was the next one to receive a visit.
Meanwhile, Janne and the others in Norway were now asleep. They were all really tired after everything that had happened. Heidi and Mairead were taken care of at the hospital.
The next morning, Heidi woke up before her husband and his mates arrived at work. She gradually felt better after fainting the day before, she had to take it easy anyway.
When Kian and the others eventually turned up, they found Heidi in her bed looking around. It was quite obvious that she sat there waiting for them.
"Hello, my love. How are you doing today?", Kian asked as he went straight to his wife. Then he gave her a lovely kiss.
"I feel better already, and I am really happy to see you again, honey. Where's Janne?", she wanted to know.
"She'll be her later. The twins need her at home," Shane explained while smiling. Then he added: "Later today we'll be able to find out if you can go home. I know we said that yesterday, but let's wait and see."
A little later, Kenneth and Shane went to the little girl, while Kian stayed with his wife to keep her in company.
When Shane and his colleague entered the little girl's room, they had to find out how she'd been doing through the night. The nurse had written a note for them.
"She's been asleep all night, and has not been warm," it said. Shane was very satisfied with that. But to be completely sure, he decided to check it himself.
A few minutes later, he told Kenneth: "She's not warm anymore. And the chicken poxes are about to go away. It's been a long time now, and I see it as safe to send her back home. But somebody has to look after her at home, too."
Kenneth was very pleased too. "Good. I'll tell Heidi straight away," he replied.
Heidi and Kian were overjoyed when their mate gave them the good news. "That's great! Do you know for sure if she can go home today?", Heidi asked as she sighed relieved.
"We have to see how she's doing through the day, but both me and Shane are pretty sure that she can go home today. She's been here for a qhile now, and she's not warm anymore," Kenneth explained.
Heidi and Kian gave each other loads of hugs to celebrate the good news. A few hours later, Janne came to visit them. She had brought the twins with her. They could stay at the hospital with her as long as they were protected.
With that, the situation in Norway was now much, much better. Besides, it happened a lot in Sligo as well.
"Catherine? I've got some really good news for you." Nicky was standing in the door.
"Really? Please come closer, and tell me all about it, then!" She got more and more excited. What did he want to tell her?
"You can go home tomorrow. Besides, I've been thinking about what you told me the other day." He kept looking at her, and tried to figure out how to tell her. It just had to be right, no matter what it was.
"Well, I've concluded that the age different between us is not that big in reality. It can not prevent us from having a relationship. Do you love me?", he asked.
To start with, Catherine was shocked. She didn't say anything for a few minutes. But then she suddenly exclaimed:
"Yes, I really do. Do you love me, too?"
"Of course I do. But while you're staying at the hospital, there has to be another relationship between you and me. I'm sure you understand," he said. Catherine nodded. But she was very happy that Nicky had told her what she wanted to hear.
However, Donna's situation was not good at all. Bryan went to have a chat with her while Nicky stayed with Catherine.
When Bryan entered Donna's room, he said: "I'm afraid that I've got some bad news for you. Your accident led to more damage, as you already know. But that damage forces us to do another operation. I know you don't like it, but that's the only option we've got. We just want you to be fine," Bryan explained while trying to encourage her the best he could.
Meanwhile, in Norway, Heidi was really happy to have Janne and the twins with her at the hospital. But she suddenly realised that Janne wanted to know where Shane was.
"He's with my daughter. You can go to see him if you want to, it's fine with me," Heidi smiled.
Janne let the twins stay with Heidi, before going to the other room. Shane beamed when he saw his wife again.
"Hello, sweetheart. How are you? Did you bring the twins with you to the hospital?", he asked.
"Oh yes, I did. They are staying with Heidi in the room next door. Is Mairead OK?"
Shane nodded. "Yes, she is. She might be allowed to go home later today."
Janne sat in the room with her husband and Kenneth. But after a while, she and the others went back to Heidi's room.
The twins were overjoyed when they saw their dad coming into the room. "Dada," Thomas mumbled before grinning.
"Before you go home, Heidi, there's something we have to do..." His former schoolmate immediately interrupted him.
"What?", she wanted to know.
"Guess three times," Shane said. Of course, Heidi understood everything.
"OK. But I want Janne to stay here as well," Heidi said. Shane fulfilled her wish, and went to the room next door to get his wife.
He returned with his wife not long after. Then he could do his job, but before that, he had to make sure that someone stayed with Mairead. Kian went to be with his daughter.
Heidi was told to be quiet during the examination. But she stared at her best friend many times:
"Janne?", was all she had to say. For some reason, Heidi's best friend quickly understood what she was told to do. Therefore, she sang "Evergreen" and "Don't Say It's Too Late". Kenneth was smiling. Shane was standing with his back in front of Janne, so she couldn't see that he was smiling too.
Shane finished the examination fifteen minutes later. The only thing left, was to discharge Heidi from the hospital.
When that was done, she was allowed to go and see her daughter. Kian and the others went with her.
At the hospital in Sligo, Bryan took plenty of time to talk to Donna. She was very upset.
"When will it happen?", she asked nervously. She knew that there was no other choice, but still, she was not happy about the situation at the time.

CHAPTER 14

"We have to do it within two hours. We can't wait too long. You're not supposed to suffer through this. I promise you that everything will be fine. Just take it easy," Bryan said while trying to comfort her.
Mark had a day off, so he didn't turn up at the hospital. He brought his dear Yvonne to visit his family.
A couple of hours later, Heidi and Kian were finally given the message they had been waiting for:
"Mairead can go home today. I've been thinking about it, and my conclusion is that it's ok, because you can look after her there," Shane told Kian.
"Great!!", Kian beamed happily. Heidi was very happy, too. But their daughter couldn't go home yet, they had to wait for a while.
Kenneth was happy for his friends, and said: "It's great that your daughter seems to be well again."
Shane had to do some formalities to let Heidi and Kian take their daughter home. When that was done, he had a chat with his wife.
"Janne, I quit working in 1 hour. Then we can take the twins with us back home and have a great time." He beamed.
"Yes, let's do that," Janne replied happily.
They left the hospital one hour later. Heidi and her family went with them. They were all looking forward to get back home.
Donna was now having her operation done at the hospital in Sligo. Bryan and some other guys did everything they could to help her. The operation was finished about two hours later. Luckily, it was successful.
Catherine was doing fine. She and Nicky met several times in her room, and her last night at the hospital turned out to be very special for both of them.
"Nicky, will you marry me?", she asked while sitting in her bed.
Nicky didn't seem to be prepared for the question, although both of them had declared their love for each other.
"YES!", he said a little later. After all, Catherine was in her last year as a teenager. The couple got engaged, but so far, they hadn't decide when to get married.
In Norway, it still happened a lot. Both Heidi's and Janne's families experienced many events.
When Shane, Janne and the twins had gone to sleep after an evening with plenty of cosy stuff, Janne discovered something totally unexpected. While her husband was asleep, she moved gently to the bathroom. She had had a feeling for a long time. It told her that something was about to happen. Still, she was very unsure.
A little later, her acceptance was finally confirmed: She was pregnant again.
Because Shane was deeply asleep after long, tough days at work, Janne decided not to tell him until the next morning.
Heidi, Kian and their daughter were also deeply asleep this night. They didn't have a clue what Janne was going to tell them.
When Janne woke up the next morning, she suddenly became eager. She shook her husband carefully, saying:
"Shane, there's something I have to tell you. I found out about it this night, and I have suspected it for a while now. Luckily, it was confirmed. I am pregnant!"
For a few seconds, Shane just lied there without saying anything. But then he hugged his wife with tears of joy. He was happy that he and his wife were having another baby.
Heidi and Kian woke up a little later, but Mairead had to get loads of sleep, especially now. Kian looked after her all the time.
The phone rang while Heidi was standing in the kitchen. Heidi was shocked to hear Janne's happy voice that early in the morning.
"What's going on? Did you just win a prize or something???", she asked.
"Heidi!! I'm pregnant!!! I found out about it by chance this night!!! Me and Shane are so happy," Janne exclaimed.
Of course, her friend was very happy to hear about the good news. She told Kian to come to her immediately. "Janne and Shane are expecting another baby," she told him. Kian was smiling, and told his wife to congratulate.
Catherine was happy too. Today, she was finally allowed to leave the hospital and go home to her parents and her siblings. She told Nicky that her parents knew all about the engagement. That way, there was no doubt about their relationship.
"I'll come to visit you later tonight. See you then, and remember that I love you so much," Nicky said before kissing Catherine. They were still in her room. Then he followed her outside to the car that was waiting for her.
The months passed by, and a lot of things happened. Janne's stomach got bigger and bigger, and she really enjoyed being pregnant again. She loved being a mother. Mairead spent a lot of time with the twins, and was doing just fine.
However, the biggest event took place in Ireland: Nicky's and Catherine's wedding. Catherine was now 20 years old. Family, friends and relatives were there to take place in the wedding.
"I ask you, Catherine Drummond. Do you want Nicky Byrne, standing next to you, to be your husband? Do you promise to love him till death parts you?", the priest asked.
"Yes," the beautiful bride said happily. Shane and Kian were there with their wifes and their children. Bryan had brought Louise with him, while Mark came hand in hand with his lovely Yvonne.
"I ask you, Nicky Byrne. Do you want Catherine Drummond, standing next to you, to be your wife? Do you promise to love her till death parts you?", the priest continued.
Nicky was smiling proudly. "YES!!"
The tears of joy were many. Family, friends and other people cried happily. The bridal couple was also crying happily.
"I love you, Catherine," an overjoyed Nicky exclaimed.

CHAPTER 1

"What a great day", Catherine beamed from where she was sitting outside the beautiful house she and her husband owned in Sligo. It was a lovely day, and the married couple had a great time together. They married two months earlier.
"That’s right, my love," Nicky replied happily, before giving her a well-earned kiss.
Nicky was still working at the hospital, while Catherine was a student at the university. He was due to start late today, and Catherine had a day off.
The nice idyll faded away after one hour, because Nicky’s bleeper went off.
He looked at his wife.
"I am sorry dear, but they need me at the hospital. I have to go right now. Then I will stay there all day long as usual, and then I come back," Nicky said as he left his chair.
Catherine was smiling, because she understood everything.
"It’s alright. I’ll just stay here and have a nice time. See you later, honey. I love you," she said. Then Nicky went.
There were a lot of things going on in Norway. Janne was seven and half a month pregnant by now, and because of that, she had decided not to start working until after the baby had become older. Janne’s husband Shane was kept busy every day at the hospital. Kian and Kenneth were still colleagues of his.
The twins Cathy and Thomas - Janne’s and Shane’s children - attended a kindergarten. Mairead, the daughter of Heidi and Kian, attended the same kindergarten as her friends.
Heidi had been working for a month by now. She worked as a children’s nurse.
Shane, Kian and Kenneth worked at the same section as her. Today, Heidi was enjoying a day off work and stayed at home.
Shane was on his way upstairs to his section at the hospital when a nurse suddenly came walking towards him.
"I need to talk to you right now" she said.
He started listening to what the nurse had to tell him. It sounded really important, and he wanted to find out what was going on.
"A woman arrived to our section just before you came back upstairs. She’s in the middle of her twenties, and needs help immediately. I promised to find someone to help her. Come on, I’ll show you where she is" the nurse explained.
The nurse brought Shane to the room where the young woman was. The nurse decided to let Shane enter the room by himself, and then she left.
Shane opened the door, and smiled at the shy, young woman. She was shocked to reveal who the male person actually was.
"Hello, my name is Shane" he said friendly.
"I know. I recognised you straight away. I presume that the nurse told you about me" the woman said, whose name was Celine.
"Yes, she did. That’s what I’m here for" he replied.
Celine told him why she had come to the hospital. She sat in a chair and kept giving him looks. Shane was looking at her as well.
"I see. There’s only one thing to do, then. I will have to examine you" he replied.
Celine was now blushing, but she didn’t say anything at all. She had to do exactly what she was told.
At this time, Nicky finally arrived the hospital in Sligo. Bryan was there to meet him immediately.
"I am so glad you managed to be here very quickly. There are two teenagers that need our help. They were involved in a car accident about three blocks away from the hospital. None of them have damages that will cause death, but the situation is still very serious for them" Bryan explained. He brought Nicky to the room where the teenagers laid in each their bed.
Nicky was very serious and worried when he looked at the teenagers, a boy and a girl. It was very obvious that they needed medical help immediately.
"Do you remember what happened?" he asked the young girl. She didn’t reply by words, and didn’t give him any other signs as a reply either.
Nicky looked at his mate.
"It looks like she suffers from a concussion of the brain. Let’s find out, shall we?" he said.
He and Bryan faced quite a tough job. Nicky took care of the girl, while Bryan took care of the boy. They examined the boy and the girl for more than one hour.
"Do we know who their parents are?" Nicky asked.
"Yes, we do. I found a card in the girl’s bag, and the parents’ names are on it. The boy and the girl are siblings. I gave the parents a call not long ago, and they are on their way to the hospital right about now" Bryan replied. It later turned out that the siblings were on their way to a party when the accident happened.

CHAPTER 2

Mark was about to fulfil his holiday this day. He and his girlfriend Yvonne had been spending a whole week together on the Irish coast, but the holiday now came to and end and they were going back to work.
In Norway, Janne was in her house when the phone suddenly rang.
"Hi, you’re speaking to Janne" she said while smiling.
"This is Heidi. Are you OK? Listen, I’ve got a day off work and was wondering if you would want me to come over and be with you?"
Janne was still smiling.
"I’d love you to do that. It’s quite silent here now because the children are in the kindergarten. Why don’t you come straight away?"
The conversation came to an end, and Heidi went to her best friend immediately.
They spent the day doing something nice together.
At the hospital, Shane had finished his examination of Celine for now.
"You know what? You will have to stay here overnight. It’s necessary" he told her.
The young woman accepted it, and was told what to do now. She was also told that someone would take care of her for the next few minutes.
"Later today, I will come and see how you are doing" he said, before going to get the nurse that had spoken to Celine when she arrived at the hospital.
Shane met Kian in the corridor.
"Hi. Do you have a lot of work to do? I’m on my way to get one of the nurses" Shane said.
Kian was smiling.
"Yes, there are plenty of things to do, but everything is fine so far. I better go and see the children. See you soon." Shane nodded, and went further.
Back at the hospital in Sligo, it was very hectic. The two siblings were still in the acute section when their parents finally arrived. Bryan explained the situation to them.
"We’ve examined them both, and our conclusion is that none of them remember anything at all from the accident they were involved in. Besides, they’ve got broken legs and other damages. They do not have damages that will cause death, but they will have to stay in hospital for a while."
The parents nodded. They were allowed to stay with their children for a while, although it was quite difficult achieving contact.
A little later, the siblings were taken to the intensive care section. They were kept under observation all the time.
Nicky had been telling the parents that he was going to come back later to see how everything was. The parents were grateful for everything that was done for their children.
Then Nicky left for a while to check other patients. Bryan had left as well.
Nicky’s wife Catherine was still in their house, making decorations in the living room. She and her husband were going to have an inauguration party a few days later, seeing as they had just moved there.
While decorating the living room, she was interrupted by the phone.
"You are now speaking to Catherine Byrne. To who am I talking?" she asked friendly.
"Hello, this is Heidi. It was nice to attend yours and Nicky’s wedding. It was a great wedding, that’s for sure. Listen, I was wondering if Nicky is at home?"
"Hi, Heidi. Thanks for telling me, it was a great joy having all of you as our guests. I am so sorry, but Nicky is not at home. He had to go to the hospital earlier than scheduled, and will be back this afternoon. May I give him any message from you?"
Heidi asked Catherine to say that she had given him a call. She was also asked to tell him that Heidi was going to give him another call later. With that, the conversation was over.
Janne was sitting in the sofa and could feel the baby being active. It kept kicking and boxing inside her stomach, but it didn’t matter that much. The big event was due to take place soon, and because of that, Janne had to take it easy. Luckily, Heidi spent much time with her best friend.
Kian was on his way to the children’s section when he met Kenneth by pure chance.
"Hello, Kenneth. Would you like to come with me to check on the children?" Kian asked. Kenneth said yes, and then he and Kian went together.
One of the children, a six-year-old girl, was overjoyed when she saw Kian coming. She kept smiling, laughing and saying "Ki, Ki". But she was standing erected in her bed, and almost lost her balance because of it.
"Oh, take it easy, little girl. We don’t want you to get hurt, do we?" Kian said. Kenneth laid the girl back in bed.
Kian and Kenneth were staying with the children for a while, to see how things were. Kian went over to a very little girl, and suddenly became very worried about her. The little girl was lying in her bed, pale and without possibilities of doing anything at all.
"Kenneth, I think we have a problem here. Look at this girl" Kian said. He decided to check the girl’s condition immediately.

CHAPTER 3

"Take it easy, my little friend. You will be just fine. I just want to see what’s the matter with you." The little girl was crying when Kian examined her.
She hated the thought of him doing this to her. Kenneth stayed there to cheer her up the very best he could.
Meanwhile, Shane went to take care of other patients in his section. He wasn’t due to come back to Celine until a few hours later.
A little later, he decided to give Janne a phone call. He wanted to be absolutely sure that she was OK. She was highly pregnant, and he wanted her to be OK.
"Hello, this is Janne" she said.
"Hi, my dear angel. How are you?" he asked.
Janne put a huge smile on her face when she heard the voice of her husband.
"I am fine, but the baby is very active at the moment. Heidi came to visit me and we are having a great time together. When will you be back home?"
Shane told her that he was to leave the hospital in the afternoon. He also told her how much he loved her. They were both looking forward to see each other again.
"But I have to go now, there’s a lot of things to be done. See you later. I love you" he added.
It was still pretty hectic at the hospital in Sligo. In the middle of all this, Mark suddenly turned up. He and Yvonne were on their way back home from their vacation, and he had decided to see how things were at the hospital.
"Hi, how are things in here at the moment?" he asked when he met Bryan at the main entrance by pure chance.
"Everything’s fine, but I have to go back soon. Two teenagers, who are siblings, were involved in a car accident and they arrived not long ago. How was your vacation?" Bryan asked.
Mark was smiling happily.
"Oh yes. It was a perfect love vacation. The weather was beautiful every day, and thank God for that. We did so much during the week and we really enjoyed ourselves. Listen, I can’t sty much longer, because Yvonne is waiting for me in the car. But I’ll be back at work tomorrow, so I’ll see you then" Mark said.
"It’s OK. Give her greetings from us, and see you soon. Goodbye for now" Bryan replied.
With that, Mark left and Bryan went back to work.
While Bryan was on his way back to his section, a nurse came running towards him in a hurry.
"You have to come with me right now. The teenage girl is really suffering. Her condition has changed dramatically" she said.
Bryan asked her if Nicky was there as well, and the answer was yes. Then he ran to the girl in a hurry.
When he entered the intensive care section where the siblings were, he could see the girl lying in real pains.
"This is not good at all. We have to do something for her right now. Where are her parents?" Bryan was really worried about the situation.
"They’re outside the hospital, but has given us their mobile number. I’ll get the nurse to give them a call immediately" Nicky replied. The girl’s situation had now changed from stable to very dramatic in a short space of time, and something had to be done for her really quickly.
Things were a lot easier in Norway. Heidi and Janne had just started knitting clothes for the baby and they still had a great time. They sat talking about how it would be when the baby finally arrived.
"It will be great. The twins do understand that something is going to happen soon, and Shane and I have been telling them about it. They are smiling and it seems like they are very happy about it" Janne said.
Heidi gave her best friend a smile. She was going to stay with her every time it was required, because the situation made support and help necessary.
The hours passed away, and it was time to pick up the children in the kindergarten. Heidi offered to pick up the twins as well. Janne was supposed to take it easy.
"Thank you so much for your help, Heidi" Janne said gratefully.
"It’s my pleasure. I’ll be back soon. See you" she said, before going to pick up the children.
Shane was still at the hospital, and he kept the promise he’d given Celine earlier that day. He went back to her room straight away. She sat in her bed reading a magazine when he turned up.
"Hi. Are you OK?" he asked friendly as he walked over to her bed.
"Just a little" she said without being shy.
"OK. I am here to talk to you and to do another examination. Are you ready for that?" he wanted to know.
"Yes" Celine replied quickly.
With that, Shane was allowed to start.

CHAPTER 4

Kian was still taking care of the little girl. He worried about her a lot.
"What’s going on?" Kenneth asked.
"She is suffering from a bacterium disease" Kian concluded.
Kenneth got worried immediately.
"Then we will have to keep her under observation all the time" he replied. Kian nodded. The little girl was suffering and had big trouble.
"We should let her be in another room, a smaller one, where she can be taken care of all the time. Besides, we have to isolate her from the rest of the children. I’ll take care of that" Kian said before leaving. Kenneth stayed in the room to cheer up the little girl.
The situation was still very dramatic for the teenage girl at the hospital in Sligo. Her parents had just came back to the hospital, and they were very upset because of all the events.
"If it continues like this, we will have to consider an operation. We constantly look after her" Nicky explained to the parents. The girl’s brother was not suffering that badly, but he had to be taken care of as well.
A little later, the girl’s situation suddenly became stable.
"Right now, it seems like she will be fine. But we have to pay attention anyway, seeing as the situation can change quite quickly" Nicky explained to his mate. Bryan nodded in agreement. After this, Bryan and Nicky went to check on other patients in their section.
Mark and Yvonne had finally arrived back home. They thought it was great to be back, despite the fact that their vacation had been successful.
"It was a perfect vacation, no doubt about it. But tomorrow we have to go back to work" Mark said while smiling at his dear girlfriend.
"Yes. I am sure there are a lot of things to be done there at the moment" she replied smiling. Yvonne was a teacher in a children’s school. She was very popular with the pupils.
At the Norwegian hospital, Shane was now in the middle of his examination of Celine.
"There’s only one thing left before I have finished. The last thing I have to do, is giving you an injection" he explained. Celine gave him a vague smile as a reply to what he said.
"It’s OK with me. I don’t mind. Just do what you have to do" she said bravely.
Shane prepared the injection, and Celine turned away. She couldn’t stand the thought of looking at the needle.
"Reach out your arm, and I promise it’ll be done in a few seconds. I really promise" Shane said in a try to calm her down. He noticed how unsure she was being, but knew very well that she was not that afraid of what he had to do.
He gave her the injection, and she made a few grimaces to signalise that she could feel the needle quite well. But she didn’t say anything. She had to deal with these things.
"There you go. I’m done. But now I really need to talk to you about something important. You will stay at the hospital for a few days, because you are suffering from a strong pneumonia" Shane explained.
Celine looked at him.
"Is it serious?"
"No. But you need to stay here just in case. You’ll be fine" he reassured her.
The young woman smiled at him, but he had to leave her after a little while to continue working.
Not long after this, Kian re-entered the room where the little, ill girl was.
"We will move her to another room now. She will be taken care of all the time" he told Kenneth.
"Good" Kenneth replied. He took the little girl in his arms and brought her to the other room. When they got into that room, he put her in the bed. A nurse entered the room immediately.
"I’ll come back to check on her later. Call me if something happens" Kian invited.
It was full activity at Janne’s and Shane’s house. The twins had a great time with Mairead, while Heidi and her pregnant friend sat in the sofa talking.
"The baby is still very active. I am so excited about this" Janne said. She put a smile on her face.
"Of course you are. Who is taking care of you at the hospital during your pregnancy?" Heidi asked.
Janne looked at her best friend. She knew that Heidi didn’t know about it yet.
"Kenneth is the one to take care of me during this. Shane can’t do that, and Kian’s responsibility is with the children."
Heidi was smiling.
"Yes, I know. Listen to me. I’m going to the kitchen to make us a nice meal, and we can have a great time. You just sit here while I take care of everything" she told her best friend.
Catherine had now finished decorating the house in Sligo. She wanted the time to pass away quickly, and started reading her school book. Just then, the phone suddenly rang.
"This is Catherine, who’s there?"
"Hi, my love. How are you? I gave you a call to tell you that I will be back home when I’m finished. It s really hectic here at the moment, but I’ll be home as scheduled" a smiling
Nicky told his wife.
"Hello, Nicky. It’s fine. I’m doing great, I sit reading my school book. I love you. Greet Bryan from me, OK? See you soon" Catherine replied.
As the conversation ended, Nicky went back to Bryan. A few hours had passed by now, and it was time to find out how the siblings were doing. A nurse looked after them all the time, and the situation was stable for both the siblings, for now.
Nicky and his mate went to the intensive care section to talk to the nurse.
"Their parents have left the hospital to take a break. They will be back later. Everything is under control and the situation has not changed" the nurse explained.
The guys were looking at each other.
"Good. But I still need to check her condition anyway" Nicky said as he gave the girl a look.
While Nicky was kept busy examining the girl, Bryan went over to have a few words with the boy. A conversation with him was possible, because his situation was much better.
"You will be fine, don’t worry. I’ll be right back" Bryan said. He left the room to sort something out.
Nicky remained to examine the girl. She was very weak, but could feel that he was there.
"Take it easy, Monica. Everything will be OK" he said in a try to calm her down. She didn’t move, she just stayed in bed. The nurse asked Nicky if there was something he needed.
"Yes, I do. Monica is stable for now, but the situation is difficult. She needs an operation right now. Can you tell her parents to come back to the hospital as soon as possible?" he asked.
The nurse ran out of the room to give the parents a call. She had to tell them what was going to happen.
They turned up at the hospital a little later, and Nicky was given the mission to tell the parents about the operation. But he reassured them that their daughter was not going to die.
The hours passed away, and the two mates faced a tough job giving Monica a better life after the dramatic accident. Luckily, they succeeded. The operation lasted for four hours.
Mark and Yvonne were still at home, and they quickly decided to visit Catherine. They knew that she was all by herself.
Catherine beamed when her friends arrived.
"Hello! It’s great of you to pay me a visit. How was your vacation?"
Mark was smiling.
"It was great. We went to the hospital before heading home, to see if your dear Nicky was there. We didn’t see him, but Bryan was there and we had a nice, little chat. He was very busy" he explained.
"I see. It seems like Bryan was the one asking Nicky to come to the hospital in a hurry. Nicky was due to start later, but his bleeper went off at an early stage because of a serious accident. But he will be home at the normal time" Catherine replied. She and her friends sat talking together for a long time, and they really enjoyed themselves.

CHAPTER 5

Back at the Norwegian hospital, the situation had calmed down for now. The little girl that Kian and Kenneth had to take care of, was now sleeping in her room. Someone watched over her constantly, and Kian decided to check on her after a while.
"Is she OK?" he wanted to know.
"It’s still the same as it used to be earlier. She is still pale" the nurse said.
Kian kept looking at the little girl, whose name was Natalie. He realised that he had to check her condition once again, because the situation was difficult.
Shane was now having a well-earned break. He’d worked really hard for the past few hours. He sat thinking about a big surprise that he wanted to give his wife, their children and their friends. He knew that they would be very happy about it. It wasn’t the right moment to reveal it now, though. It was still too early.
He had to wait for the right moment to come.
While he sat thinking about this, Kenneth suddenly turned up. He wanted to talkabout Janne.
"Is she fine?" he asked.
Shane looked at him.
"Yes, she is very happy to be pregnant again, and we are both looking forward to the big event."
Kenneth was happy for his friends.
"I’m glad to hear."
"But" Shane said. His smile suddenly faded away. "There is one thing that keeps bothering her. She hasn’t felt quite well lately. I keep telling her that it’s normal, but the baby has been very active recently. It’s way too early, Janne has only been pregnant for seven and a half month."
"Yes, you are right. It’s quite normal. But I think you should tell her to come to the hospital, to let me help. I presume that you tell me this because you want me to help, don’t you?"
"Yes, exactly. I want her and the baby to be fine. Listen, I’ll soon finish my duty for today, and when I get back home, I’ll make sure she gets to know what you just told me" Shane replied. He was grateful that his mate and colleague offered his help.
The activity was still on a high note at Janne’s house. The children were playing with each other, and Janne was sitting in the sofa. Heidi was just about to re-enter the living room, when Janne suddenly felt that something was wrong.
Heidi was carrying a dish, and she placed it on the table immediately. She went straight to the sofa where her friend was sitting.
"What’s the matter? Are you alright?" she asked in a worried voice.
"I don’t know. Please call Shane right now. I know he will be home soon, but I think I have to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Ask him if Kenneth is there, he is the one responsible for me during the pregnancy" Janne said. She wasn’t having a great time at the moment.
Heidi gave the hospital a call. She was panicking.
When someone at the guy’s section finally answered the phone, Heidi asked if she could have a word with Shane. She didn’t have time to wait. After all, it was Shane’s wife that suffered.
"This is Shane, who’s calling?" he asked friendly.
"It’s me. Janne is sitting in the sofa and it seems like she’s going into labour already!! It’s way too early for that! Where’s Kenneth? I think we should go to the hospital right now" Heidi said. Her voice sounded very nervous. The children didn’t take much notice of the events, but they did understand that something was happening.
"What?! It can’t be possible, she’s only 7 ½ month pregnant! You HAVE to get Janne to the hospital immediately. Kenneth is with me now. Get someone to look after the children and bring Janne here now. Hurry!" Shane begged. He was very worried about his wife.
When the conversation was over, he looked at Kenneth.
"They’re on their way now. It seems like Janne’s going into labour!"
"I see. I’ll take good care of her, you know I will do that" Kenneth reassured his colleague and friend.
Janne and Heidi arrived at the hospital about half an hour later. Heidi had driven her friend all the way, and despite the fact that she was very nervous, she had to stay calm for the sake of Janne and Shane. It was really important.
Kenneth ran towards Janne in a hurry.
"I’ll do my very best. I have to check if she’s really giving birth now, or if the alarm is false" he said.
Heidi remained in the corridor, while Kenneth had asked Shane to come with him.
Kian was still with the little, ill girl, so he didn’t have a clue what was going on at the time.
Everything went fine at the hospital in Sligo. Monica was asleep after the operation, which had given her a better life. The only thing she would feel after the accident, was weak legs. Apart from that, she was very lucky. Nicky and Bryan had done a fantastic job to help her.
"We are very relieved that the operation was successful. Thank you so much for your help" Monica’s parents said gratefully. Their son wasn’t as hurt as his sister, but he couldn’t go home yet.
"It’s our duty to help people when they fell ill or get hurt. And when it comes to Tom, he will be just fine" Nicky said.
After the two mates had spoken to the teenage parents, they left the room. They had to do more work. Nicky was going home in one hour, while Bryan had three more hours of work before he’d finished. After that, he was free to go home to his dear Louise.
The time passed away, and when Nicky had been to see the teenage girl, he finally went home. Mark and his fiancée were still visiting Catherine.
Catherine couldn’t help but beam when she saw Nicky’s car in the drive. She and her guests were sitting outside the house, so they could easily see him straight away.
"Nicky, my dear love. It’s great to finally have you back home. Did you have a lot of work to do?"
"Yes, I did. But everything is under control, and Bryan takes care of it. Well, I’d like to hear what Mark’s and Yvonne’s vacation was like. Come on, tell me" he said while smiling.
The four of them sat outside the house, talking about the vacation. They were laughing and having a wonderful time.
Bryan had everything under control at the hospital. Monica and her brother were taken care of by a nurse, while he was helping other patients. He was very happy that Monica and Tom were OK for now. After all, they’d been involved in a serious accident. But they were in good hands at the hospital.
A little later, Bryan was nearly ready to leave work. But when he was on his way to get the bag and go home, a nurse suddenly wanted to have a word with him.
"Dr. McFadden, I’ve got something to tell you. Your girlfriend Louise has got very good news for you. She gave the hospital a call and wanted to tell me immediately, because she could hardly wait till you got home. Hurry up, because it’s a very pleasant piece of news she wants to give you. She is looking very forward to tell you about it" the nurse said.
Bryan put a smile on his face, and thanked the nurse for giving him the message. He took his bag and left the hospital. He was very excited about what Louise wanted to tell him.
In Norway, Kenneth was working really hard to find out why Janne’s baby had caused pains all of a sudden.
"Like I said earlier, I find this very strange. But it seems to me like the alarm was false for now. But that is pretty serious, especially because of the pains it causes. But the baby will be born at the right time. Everything is fine, and you can take it easy" he told Janne and Shane after a little while.
The married couple smiled at each other.
"I am so happy that you are OK, my dear Janne" Shane told his wife as he kissed her gently. She nodded back and returned the kiss.
Meanwhile, Heidi sat waiting nervously in the corridor. She was waiting for news about her best friend. She left the chair when she saw Shane coming out of the room.
"She’s doing just fine. The alarm was false. But Kenneth and I agreed that we should keep Janne at the hospital overnight, because she seems to be very stressed out. It’s very normal being stressed out during a pregnancy, you know that very well yourself. But I promise, she’s fine. You may go and talk to her if you’ve got time" Shane said.
Heidi was relieved.
"I’d like to talk to her. Are you coming with me?"
"Yes, of course I am. She’s my wife, you know" Shane said as he smiled at his friend.
CHAPTER 6
They went together to Janne’s room. She was very happy that her friend was still there.
"Luckily, I will be fine, as will the baby. But they told me that I have to stay here overnight just in case" Janne said.
"Yes, Shane told me about it. But it’s just a routine, you know. Listen, I can take care of your children afterwards. They can stay with Kian, me and Mairead tonight. It’s alright" Heidi said.
Janne managed to smile.
"Thank you, Heidi. I really appreciate that."
While Shane was with her wife that was expecting their third child, he was told to go back to Celine as soon as possible.
"I am sorry, honey. But there’s a young woman who needs me. Her condition is not good" he explained.
Janne understood what he was saying, and let her husband leave. He hurried to Celine. She was pale and didn’t manage to do anything at the time.
"How do you feel?" he asked her. He was very worried.
"I feel so slack" was all she managed to say. Her voice was very weak, but Shane could understand every word she said.
Shane realised that there was only thing to do.
"I have to examine you again, and then I’ll give you something to make you feel a bit better. You will be well, I promise" he told her. Then he started.
"Just breathe and you’ll be fine" he said after a few minutes. He noticed that Celine was looking down at the featherbed as he examined her.
Her face was extremely pale, and she wasn’t healthy at all. She was hoping that Shane could do something to help her quickly.
A few minutes later, Shane concluded that her condition was a bit worse. He reassured her that she was not suffering from a death disease. She needed supervision and much sleep. He was going to look after her as often as possible.
"Thank you, dr. Filan." She was interrupted immediately.
"Oh please, call me Shane" he said while laughing.
"Shane, there’s something I want to ask you. I will be very pleased if you want to do it for me. Do you have time to stay here for a while? I want you to perform a song for me. Please sing ‘I Lay My Love On You’, it was one of my favourite songs by Westlife, and it still is.
Shane put a smile on his face. He felt really flattered by what the young woman was telling him.
"Ok, I’ll do it, although Bryan and Mark sang it, too. I’ll do it for you. But then you have to promise to get some sleep afterwards. It’s very important" he said.
"It’s OK" Celine replied. She laid down in her bed while Shane performed the song for her. Her mood got better because of that.
The friends in Sligo had a great time. They were still outside the house talking to each other, when Nicky was sent a text message on his mobile. The message said: ‘Hi! Can you please bring Catherine, Mark and Yvonne with you and come to our house right now? Louise and I’ve got something to tell you. It’s very important.’.
Nicky became curious, and gave the others an excited look.
"We have to visit Louise and Bryan right now. They’ve got great news to share with us, and I would like to find out what they are" he said.
The others became curious as well.
"Come on, let’s go and find out" Catherine said.
They arrived at Louise’s and Bryan’s house about ten minutes later. They were smiling and were very happy.
"So, what do you want to tell us then?" Yvonne couldn’t wait to hear about it.
"We’ve just got a great piece of news from Norway. We received an e-mail telling us that Janne and Shane are expecting their third child. She’s 7 ½ month pregnant by now. They wanted to keep it a big secret, and I don’t know why. Maybe they wanted to give us a surprise" Louise beamed.
Everyone was smiling and looking at each other.
"That’s great news!!! I noticed that Janne’s stomach was quite big and round in my wedding, but I wasn’t too sure" Nicky said. He was very happy over the news.
"We have to celebrate this event. I want to give them a call to congratulate them" he continued.
With that, the friends started celebrating. They tried to give their friends several calls, but failed. Janne and Shane were at the hospital. But the friends in Sligo continued the celebration anyway. They agreed to call Janne later.
Heidi had left the Norwegian hospital to take care of and spend time with her own daughter and the twins. All the children needed someone to be with, but they were not grown enough to understand what had happened.
"Mama, my mama?" Cathy said in a worried voice.
"Take it easy, dear. Your mother will be back home tomorrow" was all Heidi wanted to tell her. The little girl stopped asking for her mother, and continued playing. Heidi was sitting in the living room with Cathy, Mairead and Thomas to give them company.
Shane had now made Celine’s wish come true.
"It was a pleasure performing for you. But now you need some sleep, and only that. I will be back later. Sleep well, and remember to let us know if anything happens, or if you want something" Shane told her.
"Yes, I will. Thank you, dr. Filan, I mean, Shane.." She was smiling shyly.
He gave her a smile in return before leaving the room. He closed the door behind her, and Celine finally fell asleep.

CHAPTER 7

At this time, Shane went back to his dear wife. He was supposed to go home, but he decided to be with her for a while. He stayed with her for the whole evening, while Heidi and her husband were going to look after the twins till the day after.
The celebration in Sligo continued in the evening, but around midnight, they all had to get some sleep. Mark was going back to work the next morning, and he had to feel fit.
The next morning, Mark went to the hospital along with his two colleagues and friends. They went to their section immediately. The first thing Bryan had to do, was to check on Monica and Tom.
"How are you?" he asked the girl. He wanted to cheer her up, and put a smile on his face.
"I am...fine, but I feel so tired" Monica managed to say. Bryan nodded.
"I know you are tired. Try to take it easy. You will be well
soon, I promise. I will be back later."
Tom was still asleep. It was early in the morning, and he didn’t suffer from the same pains that kept his sister awake most of the time.
Meanwhile, Nicky was in his office. He had to sort something out, and stayed there for a while. By pure chance, he noticed he’d received an e-mail from Heidi in Norway. The e-mail read:
‘Dear Nicky. You’re probably at the hospital when reading this. We’re all doing just fine, but a little scary event sent Janne to hospital yesterday. She will be fine, it was false alarm and the baby will arrive on time. We miss you all an awful lot, and are hoping to see you again soon. Kian is kept very busy at the moment, as is Shane. But like I said, we’re all doing great. The twins and my daughter get along great. They’re getting bigger and bigger as the time passes away. I am sorry, but I have to end now, because I’m looking after the twins at the moment. Janne will return from the hospital today. Give everyone loads of
greetings from all of us. See you soon, and take care. Love, Heidi.’
Nicky put a smile on his face when reading the e-mail, but he got worried about Janne. Luckily, he knew it was false alarm.
A little later on, Nicky left his office and went to work. In the corridor, he met Mark, who was really busy.
"I received an e-mail from Heidi, and was told to greet everyone from her and the rest of the gang in Norway. They’re doing just fine. But what’s going on, you look really busy?" Nicky asked.
"Yes, I am very busy. A little child is suffering and needs my help. I have to find out what has happened. See you later" Mark said, before rushing off.
A few minutes later, he met two very upset parents. Their daughter was lying in their arms, and Mark was told that she needed help immediately.
"Come with me, please. I’ll help her the very best I can" he replied.
He brought the parents and their daughter to a room, and he wanted to know what had happened to the little girl.
Mark realised that he had to check the girl’s condition straight away. The girl’s mother was very upset, but she was calmed down.
The situation had improved a lot in Norway. Janne was allowed to leave the hospital and go back home to the twins. Shane had to stay at the hospital because he was on duty, but Heidi had reassured him that she was going to take care of Janne the very best she could. Heidi was due to start late at work today, which made it possible for her to look after her friend before going.
Mairead and the twins were in the kindergarten by now, which meant that Heidi and Janne were left alone.
"I am so happy that you’re OK. Listen to me. I have to go to work in a couple of hours, but do you manage to be on your own after what has happened to you?" Heidi asked.
Janne nodded carefully.
"Yes, I am fine now. And I know Shane will be home in the afternoon anyway. Don’t worry, I’ll be just fine."
The two friends talked to each other for a while, and were taking it easy.
At the hospital, Kenneth walked past Natalie’s room by coincidence, and he decided to find out how she was doing. Her condition was still the same, and the nurses watched over her constantly.
Kian was busy somewhere else at the time, but he got to talk to Kenneth after a little while.
"How’s Natalie?" he asked.
"She’s fine, her condition has not aggravated. But she’s still very slack" Kenneth replied.
Kian was still very worried.
"I see. But that’s quite normal anyway. I’ll come back later to check on her."
A little later, he and Kenneth went to work more. Both of them had an awful lot to do this day.
Shane went to visit Celine. She beamed strongly when she saw him coming, despite the fact that she was very weak because of her illness.
"Hi" she said when he entered her room.
"Hello, Celine. Do you still feel weak?" he wanted to know. It was important, because he had to know if there was anything else he could do to help the young woman becoming healthy again.
She nodded immediately.
"Yes, I do." She wore a scared _expression in her face when saying that, but Shane reassured her that everything would be fine soon.
"But you have to stay at the hospital for a few more days. I’ll be back in two hours to do something for you. In the meantime, you have to rest" he said.

CHAPTER 8

Mark faced a tough job at the hospital in Sligo. The little baby girl was suffering, and her parents were still very scared and nervous.
When Mark had finished examining the girl, he looked very seriously at her parents.
"She's suffering from serious brething problems, and should stay at the hospital for a while."
The girl’s mother was strongly stamped by her daughter’s illness, and started crying. Her husband and Mark tried to comfort her.
"Don’t worry, everything will be OK. I’ll get a nurse to watch over Jackie. She’ll be healthy again. But it’s very important for her to stay here at the moment" he explained.
At the same time, Nicky decided to visit Monica and her brother again. The teenage girl slowly came back to reality after the tough operation, and everyone was very happy about that.
"You should be aware of one thing, though. You won’t be able to walk on your own for a long time from now on. The accident has not made you paralysed, but you have to spend time in a wheel chair for a long time. But I promise, in a few months, you will be able to walk just like before. Your legs are too weak right now" Nicky said.
Monica was relieved to hear that the situation was a bit better by now.
What he told her, was not fun, but it was better than being paralysed for the rest of the life, she thought. And she was right about that.
Catherine was now at the university in Sligo. She was studying really hard to become a teacher. It was her dream occupation, and Yvonne had given her much inspiration.
After a couple hours filled with tough studying, Catherine finally went back home. She was going to read her books, and wait for Nicky to arrive back from the hospital. He wasn’t due to quit as late today as earlier that week.
Louise was at home, and she had big plans for the future. She was so in love with Bryan that she wanted to share the rest of her life with him. They had been talking about getting married for a long time, but they didn’t have the time back then. Louise wanted to change that. It had to happen in a very special way.
Therefore, she started planning everything carefully.
The hours passed away, and in Norway, it was time for Heidi to go to work.
Janne remained lonely, but she was told to give her best friend a call if necessary.
"I’ll pick up the children when I’ve finished working. Have a nice day" Heidi said before leaving.
At the hospital, she met Shane. He asked her if his wife was all right.
"Yes. She’s at home resting. I told her to contact me if she needed to" Heidi replied. Shane was very grateful because he and his wife got so much help and support from their friends. When the conversation finally came to an end, Shane and Heidi went each to their own. Shane had to take care of several patients during the day, but everything went fine.
The day passed away quickly in Sligo and Norway. Everyone had an awful lot to do, and the afternoon arrived pretty quickly.
Around 4pm it was time for Kian and Shane to go back home. Heidi was going home as well, and went to pick up the children in the kindergarten.
Bryan, Mark and Nicky were also ready to go home at this time. They all had a very busy day at the hospital in Sligo, and were ready to have a nice, lovely evening with their loved ones at home.
Mark got a nurse to watch over Jackie, who was still suffering from breathing problems. The situation was very serious, but was not going to cause death.
The months passed away quickly, and Janne was only one week from giving birth to her third child. She was very excited about the forthcoming event.
Kenneth was taking care of his friend in a very good way, and made sure that the baby was fine. Luckily, it was that way, too. No one knew if the baby was a boy or a girl; Janne and Shane didn’t want to know that beforehand. But they have decided a girl’s name, and a boy’s name.
Shane and his friends had a lot to do at the Norwegian hospital. The times were pretty tough, and one day, he had to take care of a guy in his twenties. The guy had fallen down from a ladder when painting his house.
Big events were happening in Sligo as well. Monica and Tom, the two siblings that were badly hurt in the car accidents a couple of months earlier, were finally allowed to leave the hospital. Monica had to leave it in a wheel chair.
Both she, her brother and their parents were very grateful for all the help they’d got during the difficult time.
"We’re here to help, you know. Take care, both of you" Nicky and Bryan said as the siblings left the hospital.
When the two mates came back home that day, they had no idea what was going to happen. Louise was going to reveal a big surprise.
When Bryan entered his house, he couldn’t find Louise. She was nowhere to be seen at the time. The house was dark, and he didn’t understand what was going on.
"Louise, are you here? I’m back home!" he said.
He didn’t get a reply, and went to sit down in the living room. And then, all of a sudden, he got a huge surprise.
Louise was standing there, right in front of him. She went down on the floor and knelt.
"Bryan, will you marry me?" she asked.

CHAPTER 9

Bryan was crying tears of joy.
"Yes, I want to marry you. I love you" he replied as he embraced the girl that was now his fiancée. With that, the wedding was about to be planned.
Mark and the rest of their friends had no clue about this event just yet. They were kept busy at work and with the studies, and Janne was giving birth soon.
The happy couple revealed the news to Nicky and the others after a few hours.
Then they started partying to celebrate the event. A little later on, they decided to e-mail their friends in Norway, to let them know about this as well.
Heidi was very happy when reading the e-mail. She went to tell Janne about it straight away.
"Oh my God, are they getting married? That’s great news!" Janne beamed. The happiness got bigger because of that.
The two friends hardly managed to wait till their loved ones finally got home from work. They had to tell them about it as soon as possible.
Luckily, the time passed away quickly, and when Shane and Kian came home, they were given the good news immediately. The guys beamed of happiness when they got to know about it.
"That’s really amazing, it was about time it happened" they said happily.
With that, it was time to celebrate in Norway as well. Later in the evening, they gave Bryan and Louise a call to congratulate.
The next day, they had put the celebration aside, because everyone was going to the university and at work. But everyone was looking really forward to the wedding, which was due to take place two months later. At that time, no one knew that the wedding was going to be really, really special.
A week later, Janne woke up in the morning, suffering from big pains. She realised that the baby was about to arrive.
"Come on, we have to go to the hospital right now" Shane said. He was having a day off today, but accompanied his wife to the hospital. He’d given Kenneth a call beforehand to tell him that the baby was about to arrive. Heidi and Kian also got this message.
Janne was pale, exhausted and nervous when she and Shane arrived at the hospital. Their friends had driven by their own car all the way.
"Take it easy Janne, we will make this together. Soon, we have a baby here" Shane said as he smiled at his wife.
Kenneth brought Janne to the delivery room, and her dear husband Shane was allowed to stay there with her. They faced an exciting time together. The twins were taken care of by someone else, seeing as they couldn’t be at the hospital with their parents at the time.
Before the birth was due to start, Kenneth had to check on Janne’s condition.
He concluded that everything was fine, and the birth could start.
The birth was difficult, and it lasted for three hours. The baby was well and healthy.
Kenneth and the midwife gave the happy mother a huge smile.
"Congratulations. It’s my pleasure to say that you and Shane are now the proud parents of a
daughter" Kenneth said. He let Janne have her daughter in her arms. Shane was crying tears of joy.
"Welcome to the world, Georgina Filan" the happy parents beamed.
Heidi and Kian were sitting in the corridor outside the delivery room when they were given the happy piece of news about Georgina. They were allowed to give their friends in Sligo a call.
It was pretty hectic at the hospital in Sligo when the phone suddenly rang.
"Dr. Byrne, it’s a phone call for you. It’s your friend Heidi in Norway" a nurse said.
Nicky answered the phone and was cheering when he heard about the newborn baby.
"Say hi to them from us and give them our warmest greetings. We are so happy that everything went just fine" Nicky said.
When the conversation was over, he went to find his colleagues and friends.
They had to know about this straight away. By coincidence, he met Mark, who was on his way out from a room.
"Why are you smiling like that?" Mark asked curiously.
"Heidi just gave me a call to say that Janne just gave birth to a lovely girl. Her name is Georgina" Nicky said.
His mate put a smile on his face.
"I am so happy to hear that. I can’t wait to see the baby."
After this little conversation, they both had to go each to their own. Mark was on his way to work more when someone suddenly came towards him.
"Dr. Feehily, hurry up. The little girl needs you more than ever" a nurse said. Mark started running to her room, and kept thinking about her parents.

CHAPTER 10

As soon as he entered Jackie’s room, he did everything he could. It was a tough and difficult job, because the girl was still not out of danger yet. But after a few hours, he finally succeeded. The situation went from critical to stable.
"You may stay with your daughter if you like. I will be back later" Mark said, before leaving the room to do more work.
At the Norwegian hospital, Heidi and Kian were finally allowed to see the newborn baby. They were very happy, and couldn’t wait to see the baby.
The couple beamed when seeing the baby.
"Oh my God, she is beautiful!"
"This is Georgina" Janne said happily from where she was lying in her hospital bed. Heidi gave her a huge smile in return.
"Hello, little friend" Heidi said in a calm, but happy voice. She and Kian were allowed to stay with Janne and her baby for a while, before they had to leave the room. Janne was exhausted, so she needed to get some well-earned sleep.
Shane followed his friends out in the corridor.
"I am so happy, and I can’t wait to let the twins meet their sister" he said.
Heidi knew who was looking after the twins, and offered to pick them up. Shane smiled happily. Kian remained at the hospital with his mate, while Heidi went to pick up the children. Mairead were spending time with the twins.
When Heidi finally entered the house where the twins and her own daughter were staying, she told the woman what had happened. She added that she really wanted to bring the three children with her to the hospital. The woman smiled happily, and told Heidi to greet the happy parents and wish them the best of luck.
Heidi arrived at the hospital a few minutes later, this time joined by the three children. The twins were very happy when seeing their father.
"Hello, my dear children! I have a surprise for you" he said happily.
Heidi, Kian and their daughter sat in the corridor while Shane brought his children to let them meet their little sister.
"Baby?" the twins said joyfully. Their parents told them about the event, and the twins cheered an awful lot.
The time passed away, and Heidi brought her daughter home in the middle of the day to spend some time with her. Heidi was due to go to work in the evening, and wanted to spend as much time with her daughter as possible before leaving.
"Gina" the little girl giggled. She’d heard the name of the little baby, but it was too difficult for her to pronounce. Therefore, she kept nicknaming the baby ‘Gina’ for a while.
"That’s right, darling. The twins got a sister this morning" Heidi said smiling as she was having a cosy time with her daughter. Her husband Kian was still at work, but when he came back, she had to go to the hospital straight away.
Kian came back home a few hours later.
"Hello, my love. Janne is doing just fine. I’ll stay here with Mairead while you’re at work. See you when you get back, and remember that I love you" Kian said as he gave Heidi a kiss on her mouth. Their daughter was laughing and smiling when she saw what her parents were doing.
"I love you, too. See you later" Heidi replied.
Heidi went to the hospital, and was going to take care of the newborn children, as well as the older children. Natalie was the first one Heidi paid a visit.
Natalie was asleep, and Heidi was one of the nurses responsible for her. Heidi had to see if the condition was stable, and it was.
Later on, she went to take care of other babies and children. After that, she was going to visit the newborn baby Georgina and her mother.
"Hello there! Are you and your daughter OK?" Heidi asked smiling as she walked into the room where her friend and the baby were.
"Yes, we are. She is so beautiful!" a happy Janne replied. Heidi nodded in agreement, and made sure that both the mother and the baby really was fine.
"I can’t stay too long, because I have to take care of someone else. But I’ll come back later tonight. See you then" Heidi said. She closed the door behind her and continued working.
Shane was now at home, and the twins were staying with him. While having a great time with the twins, he sat thinking about the surprise he was going to give his wife and their friends. Now that Georgina was born, it was the right time to reveal the surprise.
Kian and his daughter were having a great time as well. One hour later, he suddenly got a message telling him to go to the hospital straight away. He got Shane to look after his daughter, and left. Something serious had happened, and Kian had to go.
He arrived at the hospital very quickly, and was met by a nurse and a young girl.
"I’m glad you could be here, dr. Egan. This girl got hurt on stairs in a house. Can you help her?" the nurse asked.
Kian nodded, and brought the young girl to a room to give her medical help. She wasn’ too keen on talking, but that’s only because she knew who Kian was.
"You have to tell me what happened. That way, I can help you. I promise I won’t do anything to hurt you" he reassured her.
A few minutes later, the girl had enough courage to talk.
"My name is Sally. Some friends of mine were throwing a party, which I attended. I fell down the stairs all of a sudden, and got hurt. I have a friend, whose mother drove me to the hospital" she said. Her voice was shaking.
Kian comforted her and promised to do his very best to make her healthy again.
She was very grateful because he wanted to help her.
"Do you know what?" Kian said after having examined the girl for half an hour.
"You can’t go home for a while yet. Your damage is too serious for you to stay home at the moment, but you will be fine. Where are your parents?"
Sally told him that her parents were on their way, and Kian promised to stay with her until they arrived. He had to talk to them.

CHAPTER 11

The situation was calm for everyone in Norway. When Heidi finally came back home in the middle of the night, she looked forward to spend time with her daughter. She had been told that her husband Kian had to go to the hospital, and would be home later.
Heidi picked up her daughter at Shane’s house, and had a few words with him. She’d noticed that he’d been very secretive lately.
"What’s going on?" she asked curiously.
Shane smiled cunningly.
"I can’t tell you that yet, because it’s going to be a big surprise. But everyone will love it" was all he wanted to say at the time.
A little later on, Heidi and Mairead went back to their house. They needed to get some sleep. They were exhausted after a long day that saw a great event happening.
The next morning, it was really hectic both in Sligo and in Norway. Mark was sitting in his office at the hospital in Sligo when he suddenly got a great idea. He was engaged to Yvonne, and their mate Bryan was going to marry Louise soon. Mark thought to himself: ‘Why not arrange a double wedding?’
Mark went to find Bryan, to tell him what he had been thinking about. They met in the corridor.
When Mark had revealed his idea, Bryan’s face suddenly lit up.
"Yes, of course we can arrange a double wedding. Louise and I are getting married within less than two months, and it would be great if you two got married at the same time and same place" he beamed happily.
The two of them could hardly wait to tell their loved ones about this. It was absolutely great.
Nicky was due to start late at work today, so he spent some time at home with his dear wife. They were having great fun together.
"It’s quite tough at the university, but I think it’s exciting anyway" Catherine said while smiling at her husband. She had to do a few more years at the university before she could start working as a teacher. But still, she was very satisfied with her choice of career.
It was a great activity at the Norwegian hospital. The first thing Shane did when he arrived, was to pay his wife and their newborn baby a visit. When he entered the room, Kenneth was there too.
"Hello, my dear. I am so happy to see you again" Janne beamed. The baby was lying in Janne’s arms, and Kenneth made sure that both of them were fine.
"I’ll leave you alone. I’ve been here for quite a while, and I need to check on other
patients. But I see you later" Kenneth told Shane. Then he left the family alone.
Heidi was at work as well. She made sure that Natalie got what she needed, and that the situation was under control. The little girl was awake when Heidi turned up in her room.
"It’s OK, honey. You’re as safe as you can be at the hospital" she comforted the little, scared baby.
The happiness was complete in Janne’s room. All of a sudden, Shane had to reveal the secret he’d been keeping for so long. He just had to tell his wife about it right now.
"Listen.. I’ve been thinking about something that I know you and the others will be very happy about. I’ve been thinking that after we’ve been to the wedding in Ireland, we’ll move back to Sligo and live there. I know very well how much you and Heidi enjoy being there" Shane said as he put a smile on his face.
Janne was now crying tears of joy.
"Are you really being serious about this? Great, that’s wonderful! Then you and Kian can start working with the other guys" she said smiling.
Shane looked at her.
"Yes, and I am really looking forward to that. But don’t say anything to the others yet, it’s too early."

CHAPTER 12

Janne promised to keep the secret to herself - for now.
When Heidi left Natalie’s room, she met her dear husband by coincidence.
"Hi, my love. I paid Natalie a visit. She’s lying in her bed, but seems to be very
upset and scared. The condition is stable" she said.
"Hello, sweetheart. I’m glad you did, I’ll go and see her in a while" he replied.
The time passed very quickly, and Janne and Georgina were allowed to leave the hospital a few days later. The twins beamed happily because their little sister was finally going to spend time with them.
The family was very happy, and Shane and Janne prepared to tell their friends about the plans they’d made.
Two months later, the two families went to Sligo to attend the wedding. A little earlier, they got to know that Mark and Yvonne would get married at the same time and same place. They thought it was a great idea to arrange a double wedding.
The wedding was an unforgettable memory for everyone, and the two newly wed couples beamed. Shane made a speech to the newly weds at the wedding reception.
In the middle of his speech, he suddenly revealed the secret he’d been keeping for so long.
"This is a day of joy and happiness. We’re here to celebrate that two couples -
very close friends of ours - got married. We wish them the best of luck. Besides, I’d like to reveal that I’ll be moving back to Sligo with my wife and our children soon. Heidi, Kian and their daughter will do the same" he said happily.
Their friends who were already living in Sligo, got very surprised. But they were also very happy about it.
"Does this mean that you are coming back to the hospital to work with us?" Bryan asked.
"Yes, that’s right. And we’re looking very forward to it" Shane replied.
Everyone was having a great time, and things couldn’t be better. It was a great day.
As time passed away, it was finally time for the two families to move to Ireland. The children were very excited about going to Ireland, their fathers’ native country.
Heidi and her best friend couldn’t wait to move to Ireland for good. They’d been waiting for this for a long time, and now it was finally going to happen.
Moving abroad meant that there were loads of things to do and take care of.
Nicky, Bryan, Mark and their wives were there to help. Janne and her husband were happy to show Georgina to their friends.
"She’s really beautiful" Yvonne said while smiling. She gave her husband a look.
"I know what you’re thinking, love" he said while smiling and laughing. Mark and Yvonne were going to have children later, but not now.
The two families that had moved down to Ireland, now lived in each their house, next to each other. The three other guys and their wives lived not far away.
They all had a great time, and enjoyed life.
After a little while, Heidi finally got herself a job at the hospital in Sligo, but she didn’t work at the same section as the five guys. Louise and Catherine were kept busy with studies, and Yvonne continued working as a teacher at the primary school.
The atmosphere with the five families in the Irish town was idyllic, and a few months later, it had grown strongly. Nicky and the rest of the guys were at work when Louise suddenly rang to say what she had found out.
"I need to talk to Bryan right now!" she begged. Her voice was very eager.
Nicky couldn’t understand anything, but went to see if he could find his mate.
When Bryan finally answered the phone, he got very curious. What did his wife want to tell him that quickly? It seemed to be very important.
"Bryan, I’ve got great news for you. I’m pregnant, we’re going to be parents!" she exclaimed.
With that, the happiness was completed to him and his wife. They were going to have a baby, at last.
