We're worlds apart

chapter eight

Angel walked up the road, towards a group of girls. Camera flashes brightened the now early dark evening. She gathered that Westlife had come out to sign for their fans, which also meant that they were going somewhere. Angel got worried and looked at her pager for the time. "9" Angel knew that she was late, well Sara was but Angel knew that she had to somehow explain this to Shane. She quickened her pace and when she got nearer she saw Shane signing and taking photos with the fans. "Sara don't know how lucky she is," Angel said to herself. Shane looked up and seeing Angel, left after the last photo. He walked towards Angel smiling but when he realised that Sara wasn't with her that happiness faded into a mixture of hurt and confusion. "Where is..."

"Shane I am sorry..." Angel could no longer continue with the sentence. Shane face dropped and his eyes lost that sparkle. Angel had to think and fast. "Erm erm Sara wasn't feeling well, yeah that's it, she wasn't feeling well."
"Is she gonna be OK" Shane said looking concerned. "Yeah she is gonna be fine"
"That's good," Shane said softly looking at the floor. Angel saw for the first time Shane's venerability. He had seemed to her the strong one. The one that held everything together with a good head on his shoulders, but now she could see that she had never really known him and still doesn't, not fully. He looked lost and alone. Angel realised that being in the pop business had its drawbacks too. Constantly having to smile and constantly being alone. She felt sorry for Shane and felt very angry towards Sara.

"So where you off to then?" Angel asked trying to lighten the mood. "Some photo shoot of something. Will you tell Sara something for me?" Shane said finally taking his eyes off the floor. "Yeah sure what?" Angel said still feeling very guilty but at the same time really annoyed at Sara for leaving her with this. "I ... I ... nah, leave it" Shane sighed. After being called by Antone, he walked off leaving Angel to her own thoughts. As Angel looked away she saw a lone figure sitting on the wall opposite the hotel. As she walked closer, she realised that it was Sara. Angel ran across the road, getting nearly run over by a passing car.

"How the feck could you do that to him? He is so upset" Angel attacked Sara. Sara just stared past Angel and didn't respond. "Come on answer me" Angel tried again, still without success. Sara was still looking past Angel. Angel followed Sara's gaze and found Shane, it seems that the loud beep from the car that Angel had managed to dodge earlier had attracted the attention of all the people gathered outside the hotel including Shane. Sara and Shane's eyes met. This time Shane didn't laugh at her. His eyebrows just became closer together and Sara could see how much she had hurt him. She felt this huge pain inside her at the thought of having hurt him. Had she blown it? Only one way to find out. Sara jumped off the wall and across the road but as she did their tour manager packed them into their Preva and the door had been shut.

Sara just froze, everything had happened so quickly, she hadn't been able to take everything in but the one thing she knew was that she couldn't let Shane slip away from her so easily. There were people screaming all around her but Sara didn't hear of see them. There was only one person that Sara cared about. He had been the one thing in her life that she been waiting and searching for. She regretted never welcoming Shane into her life with open arms. Now there was no way that he would ever forgive her. She had hurt him a hundred times more then he had ever hurt her. He didn't deserve to be hurt and as the Preva drove off she realised that she didn't deserve him.
