chapter seven

We looked at each other shyly and he walked towards me. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me softly.
"You know, I’ve been wanting to do this for a long, long time," he said, looking deeply into my eyes. I didn’t respond to that but I put my head on his shoulders.
Then I decided to go shopping for Angel’s birthday present and he agreed to come along with me. First we went to look for a nice birthday card.
We found it after searching it for like half an hour. It was a very sweet card with a puppy in front. Then we went to look for a musical box, the kind with a ballerina inside. I knew my friend would love it coz she’s been telling me how much she wants one.

As we were searching for the musical box, we passed by a shop that sells silver and I picked up a necklace. The necklace was a darling but it was very expensive so I put it back and looked at it sadly. I pulled Kian out of the shop, hoping nobody would buy it before I did and before long, I had to go to a restroom so Kian waited for me outside a shop. When I came back, I met Toni and Mark. Turns out they were also shopping for a gift for Angel. "You came out alone?" Toni asked.
"No, I came out with Kian but he’s nowhere to be seen. I wonder where he went?" I replied. Then I spotted him walking towards me.
"Where did you go?" I asked him.
"Oh, I saw my friend so I went over and said hi," he replied. "Oh hey, Mark, Toni. I saw some musical boxes. It’s over there in that shop." We then went our separate ways and went over to the shop. There we found the perfect musical box. After buying it, we went to buy a big tub of Mövenpick chocolate ice cream, my favourite ice cream and went back home. My brother and parents won’t be back until evening so we had the whole house to ourselves. We sat in front of the television and started attacking the ice cream.

Before ten minutes had passed, the ice cream had vanished. Kian then switched off the television and said,
"Honey, I got something for you," and he pulled out a small box. I opened it eagerly and gasped. It was the necklace that I liked so much.
"Oh thank you thank you!" I exclaimed and I flung my arms around him.
"I love it!"
"I know. That’s why I bought it for you," he said, laughing at the same time.
"Oh you’re so sweet. You’re the darlingest darling that ever was! " I said and gave him a kiss. The kiss turned into a french kiss and lasted for about five minutes. By the time the kiss ended, we were both out of breath.
"Hmm…let’s try that again," he said. But before we could kiss again, his hand phone rang. Upon answering it, his face turned white.

chapter eight

I looked at him, concerned and asked him what had happened. He said that his mother was in the hospital with an accident. I offered to go with him and we set off immediately. On the way there, I kept glancing at him to make sure he’s okay and once he tried to assure me he’s okay but I knew he wasn’t. I knew that the most important person in his life was his mother and that he thought the world of her.

Once we reached the hospital, we asked the nurse where his mother was and when we reached there, what a relief! His mother had only sprained her ankle.
"Mom, are you okay? What happened?" He asked.
"I accidentally fell down the stairs but I’m okay now. And who’s this beautiful young lady with you?" his mother asked. I blushed and introduced myself.
"Hi Mrs. Egan, I’m Lindsay. Are you okay now?" I knew it was a stupid thing to say but I couldn’t think of anything else to say. Kian, seeing that I was embarrassed, changed the topic immediately.
"Where’s dad?" he asked
"He went to buy some fruits for me. He should be back soon." She answered.

Meeting one parent was enough for me so I told Kian that I would go first and that I would call him at night to make sure everything was all right. He agreed and told his mom that he would send me out. His face still looked sad so I hugged him and said, "Hey honey, everything’s gonna be all right. If you need me, just tell me okay?" I reached up to kiss him and I left.

That night when I called him, he was feeling better and even joked with me. I told him I would go to the hospital to visit his mom and he offered to pick me up at eleven.
"You know I wish you could be here right now. I just want you to be here beside me and tell me that everything’s gonna be all right." He said before we hung up. Then a brilliant idea came into my head. Why shouldn’t I go over to his house and comfort him? My parents are out of the country and my brother doesn’t care where I go and what I do. So I set off for his house immediately.
Before I went to his house, I bought a huge tub of cookies and cream ice cream, knowing that would cheer him up.

chapter nine

Finally, I reached his house and I rang the bell. He opened the door and looked surprised and happy to see me.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, inviting me to go into his house.
"Just here to tell you that everything’s gonna be all right…" I said with a wink and went inside the house. He saw the bag I was carrying and asked me what I bought so I took the ice cream out.
"It’s cookies and cream! My favourite!" he exclaimed.
"Yeah…guess why I bought it?" I said, rolling my eyes. Then to my horror, I could see tears in his eyes and I dropped the ice cream I was carrying.
"Hey Ki, what’s the matter?" I asked, horrified. I went over to him and hugged him, hoping it would make his tears go away. But instead, he cried even harder. I didn’t know what to do so I just went on hugging him, hoping he would just stop crying and tell me what the matter is.

A few moments later, he looked at me and said, "You know, whenever I have a problem, I’ll go to my mom and she’ll comfort me and tell me what to do. But now, I can’t go to her and as for my dad, I don’t want to trouble him about how I feel as he already has enough problems concerning Mom. So today after I left the hospital, I came home immediately and I was feeling so miserable. Then you called. Your voice was like the voice of an angel to me, one that comforts me and one that could fill my heart with warmth. And I merely just mentioned that I wish you could be here and you actually came here especially with my favourite ice cream, the one thing that could always cheer me up, no, I mean one of the three things." When he finished this long speech, tears were pouring down my cheeks and I asked him, "What are the other two things?"
