if I die tonight

chapter five

"I was left alone in a room in Nicky's house that night, and I was just sitting there for ages. I just wondered if I really should phone her. Then I just told myself to get a grip, the worst thing that could happen was that she didn't like me after all. And, well, if that happened, at least I'd know the truth.

"So, I ended up phoning her, and we were gonna meet at the train station the next morning. I was so nervous I'd be late and miss her I ended up being far too early. Mark came with me with Lorraine, his girlfriend. I was pacing around of nervousity, what if she didn't come? In the end, Lorraine had to tell me to calm down, the girl would come. I snapped at it, how could she know? In turn, Mark snapped at me for snapping at his girlfriend and it was all a bit of a mess till Lorraine managed to stop us. At the time, of course, I didn't know they knew each other, and I didn't know Nikki had been talking to her and that she knew Nikki'd come, definitely.

"She did come though, and after a bit of worrying about where Kian was and stuff, we finally arrived in Sligo. I was curious as to how she'd like it, but the expression on her face when she got of the train said everything, she definitely loved the place as much as me, even though she'd never been to Sligo before.

"We ended up having a picnic in Hazel Woods with Mark and Lorraine, and at least I had a great time. Then we had a walk in the woods, and it was all a quite cuddly affair, after all, there we were, two young, loving couples out together in such a beautiful place, of course it was something like a 'smooch' as Mark kept calling it!

"Afterwards, we ended up in the stables. Not surprisingly, ever since Nikki mentioned she liked horses I thought I'd bring here there. Sure, she liked horses, and the horses liked her! She had such a good hand with horses, I could tell the very first minute she entered the stables, just the look on her face when she inspected the place, she looked as if... well, she felt at home somehow. I've always felt at home in the stables, and I came to realise she did as well.

"We some how ended up the two of us on one horse, as she claimed she hadn't been riding for ages. Mark and Lorraine disappeared, we were left alone. After getting off the horse, we shared our first kiss. Before you ask, she was a good kisser, probably one of the better, even though she said she'd never kissed anyone before... well, she must have been a natural then! I think that's the weirdest kiss I've ever had, the two of us in riding hats and with me holding the horse... I'm glad no one saw us!

"How ever happy and wonderful that day was, it was time to drive her home sooner than I, we wanted. We had a safe journey back, and we were just chatting about anything. At the end of the day, I was convinced she had feelings for me as Shane Filan, not as Shane Westlife. The whole of that day, she'd not mentioned the band once, and after about a year of that, I was more than happy with it!
