John's Bio
Hi, my name is John Haggerty. I am 15 years old and I live in Crofton, Maryland. My hobbies are music and... music. I write, play and hopefully, one day, conduct music. Your probably saying "what's thys city slickr' doin' in fostermusik," well, I'm in fostermusik because every once in a while my family takes a trip to Alabama to see our cousins, and every time we are down there we perform for the parents.

My musical focuses are the violin, piano, and Irish flute (AKA. Penny whistle). I have been into music ever since I was in elementary school. My best friend, Jonathan, had a piano. I loved to tinker with it. I remember the first song I could play was chopsticks. lol. Anyway when I went into third grade I began Violin lessons at my school. I fell in love with it and decided to keep it going. Then about 4 years ago I got another musical instrument for Christmas... a keyboard. I was thrilled and started playing around with it right away, while still practicing my violin. I didn't get serious about piano until I visited my cousin Wesley King (pretty much the president of fostermusik). When I heard him play it opened up another door of music and I decided to walk through it. The next year I began taking lessons in my schools piano classes and it really benefited me (Thank you Miss Grimm, Miss Zephir, and of course Wesley King!). Finally around the Christmas of 2003 I got very interested in the Irish flute because of Irish flute solo at the beginning of James Horner's "My Heart Will Go On" (performed by Celien Dion). I purchased my first Irish flute in Alabama and I have been hooked ever since. I then purchased two more from a man who sold them at a craft show and I have fallen even more head over heals with them. Although I play so many Instruments I practice them everyday because practice makes perfect.

I have made many accomplishments in my life, so far, as a musician, including:
- 2nd Violin Section leader in Arundel High School Orchestra
- 2nd Violinist in Arundel All County Orchestra
- 2nd Violinist in Arundel High School's String Quartet
- Performing in multiple shows including The Variety Show and Chorus Ensemble's Spring
  Concer
- Performing with fostermusik
- Writing songs for piano, and duets for violin and viola, etc.
- Arranging songs for violin and viola duets and many more
- Secretary of AIMA (Arundel Instrumental Music Association)

One day, I hope to make music my career and hopefully be an inspiration to young children and adults. I plan to go to college somewhere with my cousin Wesley, and major in music theory, composition, and music education. If for some reason or another, music does not work out for me, I plan to become a meteorologist and of course, end up living in Fosters, Alabama.
