What's New?

I'm working on a total redesign of this page.

About Me

I was born in Bellefonte, PA. Since age 5, I have lived in Morgantown, WV, where I graduated from Morgantown High School in 1987.

I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in English from West Virginia University. I work for WVU as an editor.

Dan and I got married June 26, 1999. We're also new homeowners, and caring for, maintaining and decorating our house takes up more of our time than I ever would have imagined. I love flower gardening.

I am a cat lover. My beloved cat Vester died at age 15 several years ago. In 1999, we adopted two kittens, Cleo and Cornelius. Unfortunately, Cleo was apparently ill when we got her, and she died a couple of months later. That fall, we got another friend for Cornelius, Claudette. Their antics provide us endless entertainment.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but I do enjoy Survivor and The Amazing Race.

TV shows from the past that I enjoy still enjoy are The X-Files, Remember WENN and The Avengers. I also have a special place in my heart for Family Affair.

I love classic films, especially musicals and romantic comedies from the '30s and '40s. My favorite movie is His Girl Friday.

I love music, especially jazz.

I am a fiend for collecting! My collections--ranging from tiny to fairly large--include: Vintage and new Barbie dolls, old children's books, Shirley Temple memorabilia, TV show memorabilia, comic books (especially romance and female superheroes), Beanie Babies and some non-sports cards.

Besides playing around on the web, my favorite current hobby is scrapbooking. I'm also a voracious reader. Over time, my favorite authors have included William Faulkner, Jane Austen and Virginia Woolf. I used to be quite fascinated by the poetry of Sylvia Plath, but I haven't read much poetry at all lately. I read a lot of juvenile fiction (and especially love the works of L.M. Montgomery), as well as history (particularly the early 20th century through WWII) and books about popular culture.
