This is the homepage of the Wenderoth Family. We are Steve, Valerie, Irina and of course, Casey Jones. Steve and I were married on October 2, 1999 in Alexandria, Virginia. We became the very proud parents of Irina Christiann on April 5, 2002 in Irkutsk, Russia. We started this site to keep our family and friends updated but if we can also help another child find their forever family, so much the better!
Irina was born in a small village on Lake Baikal in southern Siberia, in the Irkutsk oblast of Russia called Baikalsk. When Irina was 8 years old, she took part in a summer camp program called Bridge of Hope which is sponsored by Cradle of Hope Adoption Center. When Steve and I decided that it was time to become parents, we determined that a hosting program was the perfect way to find our child. Shortly after we signed up with Cradle to particpate in the next BOH program, we were shown a picture of Irina. We knew immediately that she was our daughter.
We first met Irina on September 21, 2001 in Baikalsk. She was very shy but after a while became more comfortable with us. We were forced to wait 6 months before Irina could officially join our family. After the court granted our adoption petition, the three of us then spent about three weeks getting to know each other in Russia before arriving home to start our new life as a family on April 24, 2003.
