PICTURE TEXT: Anni-Frid Lyngstad helped the Ace of Base-star Jenny Berggren with good advice on how to take both the good and bad sides of fame. "It strengthened me to meet a person who has gone thru this kind of success and is still whole and clean", says Jenny.

Abba-Frida became Jenny's mentor

Jenny Berggren from Ace Of Base is now revealing her secret mentor: Anni-Frid Lyngstad from ABBA. "I don't know how I would have been wtihout her."
Jenny Berggren's career has been like a rollercoaster. In a short time, she became known all around the world and chased by the fans. One morning the Ace Of Base star woke up in her apartment with a crazy fan holding a knife to her throat. "It was so much for us in the beginning. I was a 21 year old girl out in the world and everything seemed to go upside down. I was used to having problems to fight with. When everything went well I couldn't handle it. It was very weird.

Contacted her idol
The turbulence made Jenny Berggren contact one of her biggest idols. A person who had already gone thru everything she was dealing with. "I met Frida when it was spinning the worst. We met in Stockholm and had coffee together."

The advice has helped
Jenny Berggren got advice that has helped her to take both the success and the bad moments. ABBA-Frida said, for example, "You should work with good people."
"She is an extremely intelligent, strong and beautiful person. I admire her a lot. It strengthened me to meet someone who has gone thru this success and is still whole and clean."
A few weeks ago Anni-Frids husband, the prince Ruzzo Reuss, died. Short afterwards the Ace Of Base star heard the news. "I became so sad when I heard about it. I'm very sorry for what happened."
Jenny Berggren is now promoting the band's fourth album, "Singles of the 90's". Although the two latest albums have been flops, Jenny Berggren feels calm.

She can relax now
"I can relax in my role now. Of course I hope it'll go good for us, but the most important thing is that I get to keep doing what I like. I'm really grateful for that."

Planning a new album
Ace of Base consists of Jonas Berggren, 32, Malin Berggren, 29, Jenny Berggren, 27, and Ulf Ekberg, 28. The quartet from Göteborg became world famous with their debut album "Happy Nation" that sold a record-breaking 23 million copies all over the world. The followers "The Bridge" and "Flowers" were flops in comparison, with five and two million copies sold, respectively. The best of-album "Singles of the 90's" will be released on Monday. If everything goes as planned, there will be another album with new songs next autumn.
