FRIENDS SAID GOODBYE TO DENNIZ POP
Yesterday stars said goodbye to Denniz Pop. Five, Ace Of Base and a big part of the rest of Sweden's music elite wanted to honour one of Sweden's greatest producer ever. Dag Volle, more known by the name Denniz Pop, died of cancer last Sunday, at only 35 years. He was buried yesterday in Kungsholm church in the centre of Stockholm. It was cloudy, a little gray, but still the sun came out just a bit.
The church was decorated with red and yellow flowers and there was a beautiful rose bouquet on the casket together with a toy lamb and enquin. Almost the whole artist elite of Sweden was there. E-Type, Dr Alban, Robyn, Kayo, Annika Ljungberg, Papa Dee, Leila K, DeDe, Tommy Ekman, Meja, D-flex, Vito and Nicola Ingrosso, and Ace of Base.
Jenny Berggren sang the hymn "Var inte rädd"(Don't be Afraid) with only a piano as backup. She held hands with her sister Malin when they said their goodbyes at the casket. Ace Of Base left the funeral together with their bodyguard in a dark blue limousine.
A string quintet performed a classical violin number that Dag Volle himself had written and Jan Olov Fors spoke about what a playful person Dag "Dagge" Volle was and how great the longing for him is.
The boyband Five from England interrupted their tour in the USA to be in the funeral. Dag Volle was behind their big hit "Slam Dunk". The five guys were dressed in similar black costumes and came to the church together right before the beginning of the ceremony.
Some who weren't there: the Backstreet Boys. They performed in the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles tonight and wanted to praise the man behind their success.
"We want to thank Jesus, our families and Denniz Pop for the fantastic job he did for us," they said in the live broadcast when they took their prize for best video. They sent flowers instead of coming to the funeral. To the right from the casket there was a bouquet with the text "We'll be missing you".
