There are two types of Welsh Corgis: Pembroke and Cardigan. Here are quick descriptions of each type.

Pembroke
This tailless dog is the favored breed of Queen Elizabeth II. Highly active and more outgoing than the Cardigan, this dog loves attention. Bold and fun-loving, this is a good pet for families with children. Welsh Corgis live happily in pairs.

Cardigan
Somewhat shorter than the Pembroke with a low-set, bushy tail. The Cardigan requires little care, but thrives on lots of affection. More reserved with strangers than the Pembroke. A good, devoted family dog that does very well in pairs.
