Big Rig Run 2009

General Rules Scout Level

 

All trucks must be made from the components in the official Scout 18-wheeler kit Purchased from the Scout shop. (Wheels & Frame)

 

1.      18-wheeler is 48 cm in length, and 9 cm in width & 11.5 cm in height.

2.      Trailers will have a maximum weight of 725g to race

3.      Cabs will have a maximum weight of 300g to race

4.      The main parts of the kit that must be used are the 18 wheels and pins and the two chassis blocks

5.      All 18 wheels must be affixed to the truck, if any wheels fall off during the race, they must be fixed and that group of trucks must be re-raced

6.      All parts must be secured.

7.      All weight must be solid- NO LIQUID WEIGHT-

8.      Only liquid oil based lubricants can be used.

9.      All trucks must pivot where the cab and trailer connect.

10.  Wheels can't be modified with washers, bushings, bearings, etc. wheels may be rounded but not tapered. The wheels, axles and the chassis (wooden blocks that the axles fit into) that are supplied in the kits must be used. All other materials used in the completion and decoration of the trucks are open to creativity as long as you follow the specifications outlined within these rules.

11.  All trucks must be free wheeling and shall not use any type of spring system or self starting device.

12.  10 wheels must be used on the cab, and the other 8 on the trailer.

13.  Inspection: Each truck must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it may compete. The inspectors have the right to disqualify those models which do not meet these specifications. (time will be allowed to modify entries to meet specifications before a final ruling is decided)

14.  Ruling of the judge’s is final.

15.  Further most forward part of the truck must be the bumper

16.  Bumper can be no more than 1.5cm’s off the center of the track

17.  All Trucks must have been built within the 2008/ 2009 Scouting year.

18.   All truck’s and trailers will be included in the judging for prizes

 

* Please note all Scout Truck Cabs will be raced independent of the trailer.

Later racing will include the cab and trailer racing.
