On June 22, 1941, Nazi Germany invaded Soviet Russia in what was to be the most devastating theater in the most devastating war in human history. Operation Barbarossa, codenamed after a Teutonic knight who himself had carved out an empire in the east, was to be the cause of Hitler's downfall. This project documents the war from the time the first shots were fired to the time the Red flag was raised over the Reichstag.
