The Weir Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects & serves the population of Weir, Kansas.  Weir is located in Cherokee County in the extreme Southeast corner of Kansas.  Weir's population is around 800 people and covers an area of almost 3 square miles.  Our current ISO rating is 6.

Our Department also assists the Cherokee Township Fire Department in protecting the 23 square miles surrounding the city of Weir, and is available to assist other surrounding fire departments.


Mission Statement:
The goal of the Weir Volunteer Fire Department is to minimize the loss of life and property to fire in our coverage area.  We seek to do this through public education of fire hazards, training our personnel to be effective in emergency situations, and delivering these services in a timely and professional manner.
