Early this week, a trough of low pressure affected the South China
coastal areas. On Sunday, it was cloudy with sunny intervals in this
district. There were showers at night, Throughout the day on Monday,
it was cloudy with some showers. On Tuesday, it was cloudy in the
morning. There were sunny periods in the afternoon. From Wednesday
till Friday, a ridge of high pressure covered southeastern China. It
became fine in the district. It was also hot and hazy in the afternoon.
However, relatively dry weather was observed on Friday. Over the weekend,
a fresh easterly airstream affected the coastal areas of Guangdong. It
remained fine and hot, but humidity rose. On the other hand, the
tropical depression over the central part of South China Sea intensified
into a typhoon and named Conson. Conson crossed the Luzon Strait and
moved in the direction of southern Japan. Meanwhile, another tropical
depression, named Chanthu developed over the central part of South
China Sea. Chanthu intensified into a severe tropical storm later
and landed Vietnam on Saturday evening.

星期六，一股清勁的偏東氣流影響廣東
沿岸地區，本區持續天晴及炎熱，但濕
度回升。另一方面，南海中部的熱帶低
氣壓增強為颱風，命名為康森；康森橫
過呂宋海峽，趨向日本南部。與此同時
，另一股熱帶低氣壓於南海中部形成，
命名為燦都；燦都稍後增強為強烈熱帶
風暴，並於週末傍晚在越南登陸。
