‘Found Objects’

“Found objects” are objects that were originally created for a purpose other than art, and are usually every day objects, easily recognized for a utilitarian function. Their meaning in every day life is usually derived from their context in which we use them. By altering the objects’ context, or their form we can modify their meaning and significance. My ‘Found Objects’, Sunbird, consists of an old pair of tongs, an old ladle, a cold chisel, fiberglass rock, a manifold lug, a 5/16 domed nut. a flute sourced from the mudguard of a “GTR-XU1” (1970 Holden Torana part) as well as a bit of scrap 10 mm X 3mm flat bar. A couple of tack welds, a few drilled and tapped holes for anchoring to the background. The background is gyprock bog waste, and impasto, all painted in Payne’s Grey and gently rubbed with some of “Macka’s” recommended “Rub n Buff”.
