Three main elements of a Web Page

The three main elements of a Web page or site are: writing, design, and programming.

Writing

The person who does the writing for a company's Web page may need to have special writing skills and knowledge of the company and its product of service. For example, designing a Web page for a bank may require some knowledge of science or of a particular field of science such as electronics. If the Web page designer lacks the specific knowledge required by a company, he or she may work with a consultant to write the page. The text for a Web page must be easy to understand and grap people's attention. The style of writing will dpend on what the owner of the Web page wants it to convey to the viewer. Writing for a rock music company's Web page may be in the latest pop culture lingo. On the other hand, writing for a bank or insurance company's Web page will be less trendy and more formal. Web pages always start with a "home page." A home page describes what the owner of the page wants viewers to know about it. It can be like the listing of a table of contests in a book. Or a home page can be more exciting. It can be text and and/or illustrations that entice the viewer to learn more about the site.

Design

"Design" is a word for how the Web page looks. Since the text of a Web page may differ according to the nature of the owner of the page, its appearance also reflects the owner. A video game company's Web page looks. Since the text of a Web page may differ according to the nature of the owner of the page, its appearance also reflects the full of excitement in the text and illustrations. A museum's Web page may be "quiter" and look more like the musem's traditional-looking brochure. Web page design involves a blend of text, photos, and elements such as video and sound, if these are added.

Programming

Programming means putting instructions into a computer that tell it what to do. The instructions are written in any of several computer languages. In Web page design, progamming is instruction give in computer language that tells the comptuer how a Web page is to be designed. Web page designers should know the basics of all three skill--writing, design, and programming. They may not have to perform all three, but they should know enough about them to work with other who have those skills.
