  • 6/1/03 - Joe Torre officially announced today that Jeff Weaver is headed to the bullpen allowing Jose Contreras to take his spot in the starting rotation.

  • 5/22/02 - Weaver had another sub-par outing yesterday, this time against the Boston Red Sox. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks.

  • 5/16/02 - Yesterday against the Anaheim Angels, Weaver got the win, going 6 and 2/3 innings and allowing 3 runs (only 2 earned). One of the runs came off of a solo home run by Jeff DaVanon. It was the first home run Weaver gave up all season. Stats, images and such updated.

  • 5/12/03 - Weaver's last start against the Oakland A's went great for 7 innings but fell apart in the 8th. He allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 7.2 innings. I've updated images and stats and again I apologize for the late update.

  • 4/29/03 - Weaver last outing was Sunday against the Texas Rangers. He went only four innings allowing nine runs (seven earned) off eleven hits and got the loss. Damn A-Rod. Anyway, I've updated stats, added an image and a link. I apologize for my tardiness, I'm in the middle of finals and stuff.

  • 4/23/03 - Weaver and the Yankees began a three game series with the World Champion Anahiem Angels with a win last night. He went 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks. I'ved updated stats and images.

  • 4/21/03 - Added an image of Weaver's start that I forgot to add last update. I'm swift.

  • 4/17/03 - Jeff SHUT DOWN the Toronto Blue Jays today. He went 7 and 2/3 inning allowing no runs and only 3 hits. Stats and images updated.

  • 4/12/03 - Weaver made his start today against the Devil Rays. He went 6 and 2/3 allowing 4 earned runs on on 8 hits. He did not factor into the decision again. I've updated stats and added an image from today's game.

  • 4/11/03 - Weaver's scheduled start against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays was rained out. The game will be made up on June 17th. Weaver and Tampa Bay's starter Joe Kennedy will start tomorrow's game.

  • 4/5/03 - Weaver pitched in his first game of the season tonight against the Devil Rays. He went seven innings, allowing three runs, striking out five and walking one. He did not factor into the decision. Stats have been updated to reflect this.

  • 3/29/03 - Today was the final game of Spring Training. Weaver pitched four innings against the Phillies, allowed 3 runs on four hits. He finished the preseason with 2-1 record and a 1.35 ERA. In 20 innings pitched, he allowed 16 hits, 4 runs, and only one walk while striking out 13. Wow.

  • 3/27/03 - Added a new image.

  • 3/26/03 - Well, it's official! Jeff Weaver has earned the fifth spot in the Yankee starting rotation. His first regular season start should be on April 5th against the Devil Rays.

  • 3/25/03 - Weaver took the mound last night against his old team, the Tigers. Though he ened up with the loss, Weaver pitched six innings allowing two runs (only one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out one. An image from that game has been added to the images page.

  • 3/23/03 - Added one new link to the articles page. Also, Weaver and the rest of the Yankees starting pitchers (minus David Wells) toke part in a photo shoot for what will probably be the cover of the baseball preview issue of Sports Illustrated. The issue will be appearing on newstands next wek. Let's hope that SI cover jinx doesn't really exist!

  • 3/16/03 - Added one new image from Weaver's start on Friday.

  • 3/09/03 - Weaver had another stellar outing today against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He allowed one run on five hits over 4 innings, striking out three and walking none. I also added two new images and a link to a new article.

  • 3/04/03 - Weaver pitched in his second spring training game today, this one against the Red Sox. He pitched three scoreless innings allowing only one hit, no walks, and striking out four. He faced just nine batters (the one hit being erased by a double play). His competitors for the fifth spot in the rotation, Jose Contreras and Sterling Hitchcock also pitched three innings each. Contreras allowed three runs on four hits and Hitchcock gave up one run on two hits. The Yanks went on to beat the Sox 7 to 4 with Weaver getting the win.

  • 3/02/03 - Added a new article to the articles page.

  • 2/27/03 - Weaver pitched two innings today against the Reds. He allowed one earned run (a homer by Reggie Taylor), four hits, and no walks. His primary competitor for the fifth starting spot, Jose Contreras, also pitched two innings. He allowed five runs on three hits and two walks.

  • 1/15/03- The Yankees traded El Duque in a three way deal with the Expos and White Sox today. So it now seems like the 5th spot in the rotation will go to either Contreras or Weaver. Here's an interesting quote from today's New York Times:
"I'll help make the decision easier for Joe by showing up and being ready," Weaver said in a telephone interview. "I'll go out there and do anything I have to. I have confidence in my abilities to pitch. I'll make it an easy decision for him and I'll be in the rotation." You can read the whole article here

  • 1/14/03- In a recent (Friday I think?) interview done by ESPN radio, Joe Torre said that Weaver will DEFINITLY be in the starting rotation next year despite the abundance of starting pitching. Apparently, Torre also expressed a similar sentiment to Mike from WFAN's Mike and the Mad Dog show in late December, saying "Weaver will be starting next year. You can take that to the bank!"

  • 12/18/02- Just a Note: the YES Network is replaying "classic" Yankees games from this season. The July 21st game which Weaver started against the Red Sox (the one where he gave up 5 homeruns) will premeire tonight at 7 and be on again this week on Thursday at 9 am and Sunday at noon. Undoubtedly, it'll be on many more times after this week since YES likes to replay things 100 times... or maybe it's just to torture us Weaver fans.

  • 12/16/02 - HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE! Not to mention happy hot stove baseball. And look, annoying "snow"!

  • 10/23/02 - Well, here's some random (and fairly ridiculous) information for you: Apparently, Weaver is quoted in the November issue of Cosmo in small blurb titled Why don't you...bat with the boys. It reads: "Join the guys' just-for-fun baseball game and you'll be his MVP for sure. To keep from throwing like a girl, the key to to do a complete 360-degree rotation with your arm (this works whether you're pitching or playing the outfield). 'Extend your arm all the way back and all the way forward instead of just thowing with your forearm and pushing off with your shoulder,' says Jeff Weaver, a pitcher for the New York Yankees." And better yet, the caption to the picture says "Skip the tabacco spitting, but definitely wear the tight outfit." Riiiiight.

  • 10/21/02 - Added a new article to the articles page. Also of note, Yankee pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre is returning next year despite his bout with cancer. Personally, I think this is great news for Jeff and the rest of the pitching staff. I apologize for the lack of updates, but obviously, there is not too much news to report about now that Weaver's season is over.

  • 10/14/02- Added another new articles to the Articles page.

  • 10/07/02 - Added a New Article to the Articles page. I'm also looking for ideas on what features to add to the site. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.

  • 10/06/02 - Well, I'm sure everyone knows by now that the Yankees lost their ALDS to the Anahiem Angels. So the season is over for Weaver and the rest. I added an image of cleaning Jeff out his locker at Yankee Stadium for the postseason. On the bright side, there's only a few more months until spring training...

  • 10/05/02 - Added 2 new Images from last night's game.

  • 10/04/02 - Weaver made another postseason relief appearance today. This time pitching 1 and 2/3 inning and allowing 1 ER on 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 1. Not the best outing for Jeff or the rest of the Yankees. They're now down 2 games to 1 in their ALDS.

  • 10/02/02 - Weaver made his very first postseason appearance tonight in the ALDS against the Angels. He pitched just one inning, the ninth, giving up 1 run on three hits and one walk (intentional). The Angels went on to win 8 to 6 and tie the series. I also fixed a problem with the AIM icons.

  • 9/29/02 - Weaver pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Mike Mussina today, allowing two hits, 1 walk and striking out three (stats updated to reflect this). With the win, the Yankees end the regular season and clinched home field advantage (and will thus not make up to make up Thursday's rainout which, apparently, Weaver would have started). Bring on the postseason!

  • 9/28/02 - Added 2 new wallpapers and a new AIM icon to the downloads section.

  • 9/27/02 - Added a shitload of links, possibly two shitloads. (Could some please quantify "shitload" for me?)

  • 9/25/02 - Weaver got the win tonight against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in relief of Roger Clemens. He pitched scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out two. I've updated the stats to reflect this. Also added a new image and some links.

  • 9/23/02 - Added 3 new wallpapers to the downloads section.

  • 9/22/02 - Added 3 new images and tinkered with the HTML because, lo and behold, this page looks like shit on Netscape. Also added a new article but don't get too excited, it's a week old.

  • 9/21/02 - CONGRATS TO THE NY YANKEES ON CLINCHING THE AL EAST! Added the contact and downloads pages

  • Updated the stats to include last night's game and added the tracker.

  • Weaver had a great start tonight, getting the win against the D-Rays. He did even better considering he only learned he was starting "ten minutes before BP." Way to go, Jeff. The Line: 7.2 6 1 1 1 2 1

  • Weaver will get an emergency start tonight (9/18/02) versus the Tampa Bay Devil rays. Original starter David Wells was scratched due to a stomach virus.

  • Weaver Fever is founded 9/17/02!
