The Weathersfield Music Festival in Vermont was inaugurated in January 1993 and will have its ninth season this year from June 17 to July 28.
The Music Festival was founded by Almita Vamos, Roland Vamos, and Eugenia Monacelli to provide an opportunity for serious students to study intensively for six weeks in an enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere.
Students will have private lessons, master classes, and performance opportunities. Chamber music will receive special emphasis this summer as Carter Enyeart, Distinguished Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory joins the faculty. All students are encouraged to participate as members of a chamber group that will rehearse daily and receive one weekly coaching. The festival has a rich concert program planned with performances on campus and in surrounding communities. Students join faculty in these performances and are invited to attend all scheduled events.
No consideration will be given to applicant’s age, as mastery of the instrument will be the only criteria for acceptance.
The Festival will provide a secure and self-contained environment for all students.
In our ninth season we will now be located on the campus of Castleton College. Castleton, the oldest college in Vermont, is located in a beautiful early-1800s village near Rutland (the second largest city in Vermont). It has wonderful facilities for our faculty and students, and beautiful venues for concerts. We are excited by the new possibilities.
Students will be housed in single and double rooms on the campus. Three meals a day will be provided. The campus has sports facilities, meeting rooms, concert halls, practice facilities, library, and trails for hiking and biking.
If there are any specific dietary requests, please include them with the application. The Festival will indicate in its response whether the request can be satisfied.
The fee for tuition, room, and board is $3000 for the six weeks. A separate check for $100 is required as security deposit.
Applicants need to send $850 deposit with their application to be applied towards tuition by April 15, 2001. The balance due for tuition, room, and board, and security deposit must be paid by June 1, 2001.
A tape of a recent performance should accompany this application. The selection of pieces is left to the discretion of the performer. Please send the tape, deposit, and completed application to:

Those applicants who wish to pay in full by May 1, 2001 will receive a tuition remission of $100.
All participants in the Festival must be covered by health insurance. Insurance information should be sent with the deposit. Parental permission for medical attention should be submitted before June 1, 2001.
