A Marriageable Young Girl
Marie Metayer
(1626-1687)
Marie Metayer was born on September 12, 1626, at Embourie, Angouleme, Angoumois, France; the daughter of Etienne Metayer and Jeanne Robineau.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Mathurin Baillargeon.  They were married August 07, 1650 at Trois Rivieres.

Mathurin was born in 1621 in Angouleme, France; the son of Thomas Baillargeon and Marie Mignot.  Marie and Mathurin would have ten children before his death in 1681.  Marie followed on June 02, 1687 at Cap de Madeleine, Champlain, Quebec.
The Next Generation
Anne Baillargeon - Was born on November 28, 1651 in Trois-Rivieres and died on March 8, 1722.  She was kidnapped by the Iroquois when just a girl and held for seven years.  She later married Jacques Duguay on April 29, 1709.  

Catherine Baillargeon - Was born in 1652 at Trois-Rivieres and died on October 26, 1672 at Cap-De-Madeleine.  She married Francois Bigot on December 08, 1665.

Jeanne Baillargeon - Was born on November 05, 1654 in Trois-Rivieres and died on August 17, 1733 at Sorel.  She married Paul Hus and the couple had ten children.

Pierre Baillargeon - Was born on January 14, 1657 and died in 1665 at Trois-Rivieres.

Antoine Baillargeon - Was born on October 22, 1658 in Trois-Rivieres and died unknown in Kaskaskia, Illinois Territory.  He married a Native girl named Domithilde Choupingoua and the couple had five children.

Jean Baillargeon - Was born in 1659 and died unknown in Trois-Rivieres.

Nicolas Baillargeon - Was born in 1662 at Trois-Rivieres and died on June 09, 1742 in Sorel.  He married Marie-Therese Harel and the couple had ten children.

Marie-Anne Baillargeon
- Was born in 1663 and died unknown at Trois-Rivieres.

Ignace Baillargeon - Was born in 1664 and died unknown at Trois-Rivieres.

Madeleine Baillargeon - Was born in 1667 and died unknown at Trois-Rivieres.
