A Marriageable Young Girl
Jeanne Poireau
(1647-1691)
Jeanne (Poirier) Poireau was born about 1647 in Saint-Nicolas de Brem, Les Sables-d'Olonne, Lucon, France; the daughter of Francois Poireau and Francoise Hucheloque.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Pierre Biron; who was then widowed from Barbe Martin, the daughter of Abraham Martin and Marguerite Langlois.  They were married December 19, 1662 in Ville De Quebec.

Pierre was born about 1627 in Ste-Hermine, Fontenay, Poitou, France; the son of Jean Biron and Marie Razee.  He and Jeanne would have three children but did not have a good marriage.  Jeanne actually had a daughter born out of wedlock on July 30, 1673, and it was said that the father was unknown.  Separated for many years, Pierre died on September 09, 1691 in Ville De Quebec and Jeanne followed soon after on November 02, 1691.
