A Marriageable Young Girl

Marie-Antoinette Durand (1635-1703)

Marie-Antoinette Durand was born about 1635, in the Parish of St. Godard, Rouen, Normandy, France; the daughter of Guillaume Durand and Marie Tellier.  She arrived in the Quebec Colony as a Filles A Marier, contracted to be the bride of Marin Duval.  They were married April 04, 1659 in Villes De Quebec, but Marin was killed soon after by the Iroquois, and the couple was childless. Antoinette would then be wed to Nicolas De Launay on August 13, 1661.  Nicolas was born in 1633 at St. Aubin de Tourouvre, Mortagne, Chartres, France.  The couple would have four children before Marie-Antoinette's death on February 15, 1703 in Ste-Famille.  Nicolas followed a few weeks later on March 7.

The Next Generation

Francoise De Launay - Was born on August 09, 1664 at Ste-Famille and died unknown.  She married Nicolas Cadrin and the couple had nine children. Nicolas De Launay II - Was born on January 08, 1667 and died on February 21, 1703 at Ste-Famille. Pierre De Launay - Was born on December 10, 1668 and died on August 17, 1699 at Ste-Famille. Marie-Madeleine De Launay - Was born on June 06, 1671 at Ste-Famille and died on June 18, 1743 at Ville De Quebec.  She married Francois Morvan and the couple had at least four children.
