Welcome to our newest section, the Handmaidens In History! Here we'll tell you about our fabolous nine's predecessors, just from the beginning!
In Homer's works, every queen or princess has her own handmaidens: in the vase you can see on the banner, Nausicaa's handmaidens and friends can be seen running away from Ulisses (soon I'll put the whole image online). Odyssey, V 7 :"...with her handmaidens, she went to the last room".
In the Argonautika, by Apollonio from Rodi, at the v.670, we can read about the four handmaidens at Lemno, the island of women.
More coming soon!
(as soon as we go through our exams!)
