'Twas the night before the day before Christmas,
When all through the workshop ...

The elves' heads are full of commercials from the information highway.

Kids young and old are confused by the media blitz.
Everything is one giant sales pitch.

What happened to peace and quiet.
The stores and streets are nothing short of a riot.

Traffic accidents abound and tempers flare.
It makes Old St. Nick sit and stare.

He contemplates what has happened to the Christmas spirit, joy and peace.
On life, he needs a new lease.

The North Pole isn't what it used to be.
There is a problem, and its plain to see.

Down below there is crime, violence, chaos and drugs.
On every corner there is a potential thug.

Theft is around every corner and in all the stores.
The police are hard pressed to keep the scores.

The innocence and true meaning are lost in our hearts.
We all need a fresh, new start.

Simple is the watchword of the day.
Back to the basics without delay.

Let's all close our eyes and pray as hard as we can,
For this, our troubled war torn land.
