1102/1145 drafting questions

*Note: A prospectus is a short paper that propose an issue, a topic, or a subject that the writer wants to focus on.
A prospectus is essentially the same as a proposal, but it tends to be more specific.
In order to complete this assignment properly you may find that you have to do some preliminary research beforehand since I want some idea of where you are going to end up at.
Also, the first example given here is intended to be a rough model. You will notice that this example does not tell us much about the writer's final conclusion(s).
You, on the other hand, will give me some idea of where you will end up at. Also, I want a tenative thesis, examples, and I want to know what specific issues or points you will discuss in your paper. Don't forget to indent the start of each paragraph. You may also include questions you will have to answer or points of difficulty you will have to resolve to write the paper. The best proposals will probably resemble mini-essays in terms of both wording, organization, and content.

There are a variety of ways to annotate sources. The three example below are examples of such ways. Once again, these examples are rough models. For example, in one of the models, you will see that the writer discusses how the sources are organized. For this assignment, I do not care how the source is organized. What I want is a brief, concise summary of the source and I want to know why the source is or is not useful for your research paper.

1102/1145 annotated bibliography questions

*Note: If you are taking a subject that you know little about, you may find it useful to use the first bibliography and abstract to find out some basic information about your subject. Then, you can use the second bibliography and abstract to concentrate on a specific issue. For example, perhaps you know nothing about Buddhism, but for some reason you are interested in it. The first abstract and bibliography might focus on Buddhism. The second abstract and bibliography might focus on the impact of the Tao Te Ching in ancient China. You will see the the first example focuses on the Anglo-Saxons. The second example looks at a particular element in the Anglo-Saxon poem The Dream of the Rood. Remember, your first and second bibliographies and abstracts do not have to be related, but they can be provided that the second abstract and bibliography are an extension, not a reworded and unresearched version, of the first.

The research paper will consist of an original topic that you choose. I do not expect you to be an expert on the subject. However, I want something that sounds educated, intelligent, and informed. A report merely summarizes and regurgitates information. I do not want something that reads like an encyclopedia entry. For this paper, I want you to infuse opinion and synthesize research into the paper.
